In laptops like the ezbook 3 pro…. and as a general rule…. I suggest you avoid all the heavy DE and WM.
XFCE has a very small footprint, its low on resources and more or less feature full. Ok it has some glitches there and there… but we have to take things under perspective.
I got a very fast 200 Euros laptop with great battery time and well build….. I cannot ask for more……

Dear Martin, in  my system there is no screen tearing, which is odd because the xfce compositor is terrible.

I am using the intel video driver, not the mesa one.

Since you are using gnome its most probably its compositor.

Go to the manjaro forums and you will find allot of threads regarding  screen tearing.
Some people  install compton as compositor.
I have the same exact issue in my desktop with manjaro xfce in firefox and some other programs.  When I disable the xcfe compositor it goes away. It also goes away when I enable compiz. But I dont like compiz….so……

    when i give

    “map fs1″
    it gives

    ” fs1 : Removable HardDisk – Alias hd19i0b blk1
    PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x15, 0x0) /usb(0x8, 0x0) /hd (1, MBR, 0x0000000000, 0x2, 0x3947b22)”
this must be my usb stick

    but when I give
    “ls fs1”
    i get
“ls/dir: Cannot open directory fs1 – No Mapping”

When I give map -r the screen cannot include all the drives ( I have 3 partitions on emmc, an m.2 and the usb).
Also it says that it “cannot find mapped device” whatever combination I give…..

    Sad…
so… according to your guide … if i choose the AfuEfix64.efi method, this file is in the tools of the first post right?

Can I put all the files in the usb stick? The modded bios, the original bios and the AfuEfix64.efi? shall I copy only the AfuEfix64.efi file or do I need anything else from the tools?

    Maestro Giovanni
May I interest you in something new for this thread?

I have a v6 (bios 5/12/2017) and I run linux on it (manjaro 17.1 xfce). Windows are completely removed and so is the windows efi partition. I created a new one and I boot it to linux with rEFInd.  Sadly I do not have any experience in flashing bioses.

So …..assuming that I download the already unlocked bios you posted. ….. could you please provide me with a step by step guide for flashing (i.e. necessary tools, and files and procedure)?

Lets make a guide for linux users…….!!!!

    Greetings form Crete, Greece……… !!!!

After 3 hours of working on google docs, during which I was listening to music for bout 30 minutes with audacious, I have 65 % battery:

    [dimitrios@dimitrios-laptop ~]$ uptime
    23:59:05 up 3:00, 1 user, load average: 1,79, 1,37, 1,20
    [dimitrios@dimitrios-laptop ~]$

All the tests I do for my type of usage result to more than 8 hours battery time……

I am truly amazed!!!!!!! Truly truly amazed….
Lets hope thee battery quallity is good, or that i can find a replacement when the time comes.

The only deeply deeply disturbing thing is the ()*&(^&$$#%^(&*() space bar and it;s often failure to register unless I give a firm press……….

    BEAUTIFICATION GUIDE – USEFUL APPS

Plain and simple: Manjaro is great……. but F.UGLY. I mean its a pain for the eyes. So lets try to change that.

    1. Enable AUR: Open Pacman-> preferences -> AUR-> enable AUR support.
    2. Fonts: Install noto fonts
    3. Style: Install osx-arc-plus
    4. Icons: Install elementary-xfce-icons
    5. Dock: install docky
    6. System info: install conky and conky-manager
    7. USEFUL APPS: This depends solely on how you use the laptop and what you want. However, there are some apps I consider universally useful:
For media consumption : clementine, audacius, spotify. For torrents (hmmmm…) deluge. For better flash videos flashplugin.
    8. After the installation finishes, go to settings manager -> appearance and in style choose OSX-Arc-Plus, in icons choose elementary Xfce darker, in fonts choose Noto Sans UI , enable anti-aliasing, hinting full, sub-pixel order RGB.
    9. Return to All settings and select desktop. In icons tab choose what you want to appear on the desktop and size of the icons (I prefer a clean desktop).
    10. Return to All settings and open Preferred Applications. go to Utilities tab and at the file manager press on Thunar , select other and type “thunar” (NO CAPITAL T and this is very important).
    11. Return to All settings, go to windows manager and in Style select OSX-Arc-White and then adjust the button layout as you see fit.
    12. Return to All settings, go to Window Manager Tweaks and in Compositor DESELECT Show shadows under dock windows.
    13. Close settings manager, right click on the panel, choose panel and open panel preferences. Untick Lock panel and drag the panel from the end right to where you want it to sit (I prefer the top). Tick lock panel again and close.
    14. Go to menu and type docky .The dock will open click on the first icon to the left to enter preferences and choose Start when user logs in. Customize the appearance to your liking. Close and drag from the menu any apps that you want to sit on the dock.
    15. Go to menu and type conky. Open the conky manager and select the theme you want and customize it.

    Thats it!!!
    Basic beautification over!!!!!!!
