Well, after a couple of repair shops (one of which has stolen the 128 GB microSD card in the tablet) one did manage to bring it back to live. It was the charging port. Now, a few months of mild usage later, yup, same issue. It seems like I’m not the only one, either.
I guess there is a reason why a branded tablet costs more… my Samsung Galaxy TabPro S has been running reliably for a long time now, and it’s often plugged in. I also don’t need a proprietary charger for it, any USB charger or powerbank will do (it just may not provide enough power to run and charge…). And the screen is on a different planet in terms of image quality…
March 11, 2017 at 11:12 am #63246Oh, I haven’t even thought about the phantom touch screen effect. I’m not in the US though, but thanks a lot for the hint with the adapter. Haven’t thought about that! 5.5 x 2.1 looks like the standard size used by external HDDs? Though they are usually not powerful enough, but this size should be MUCH easier to find.
I’m starting to have the suspicion though that the adapter is fine, but the tablet is defective. I remember hearing a high pitched sound in the days prior to the defect, but thought it came from the adapter. One of the new ones adapters seems to fit in and be long enough, but still doesn’t work… nothing happens.
March 5, 2017 at 3:55 pm #63041I did manage to find a power supply where the cable fits, but it’s 12V with 500 mA. Obviously that’s not enough, but will it at least work to charge the battery, slowly? Or do I risk damaging it? I keep hearing it is a bad idea to charge a laptop with an undersized power supply…
March 5, 2017 at 3:19 pm #63038Somehow I managed to get it removed… without opening the tablet. It wasn’t easy, but it was possible. Phew. Lesson learned. A bit of a design flaw, if it is possible to stick it in the wrong way.
June 8, 2016 at 12:22 pm #40259I have a Wacom pen from a real Wacom tablet (like those without screen), but the screen doesn’t react. Do I need a driver or anything?
May 29, 2016 at 10:58 pm #39079What kind of very thin tool did you use? I don’t care about cosmetic damages, I just want my card back… Shame about not being to use microSD cards though, I was planning on using it to extend storage (which it desperately needs… 64 GB just isn’t enough 🙁 especially considering that the OS takes up most of it, and the rest is taken by programs. Really these tablets should have 2 or 3 microSD slots, it’s not like they take up too much space… (and obviously they should be functional). Any idea why it isn’t working? Why it gets stuck? Maybe some pins are in the wrong place or bent…?

This is the current status. What the hell are they doing? Sending it from China to Holland, so that they can send it to Malaysia? That would be extremely stupid, because on the way back to Malaysia it would almost fly past China again…
I used Priority Direct Mail with insurance… supposed to take 6-9 days. According to Banggood the fastest method of shipment. I’ve had Xiaomi send a phone from China to Malaysia before… it took them 2 or 3 days. Now it’s already 17 (!) days, and it hasn’t even properly appeared in the PostNL system. Seriously?
If it takes much longer there won’t be anyone to receive the package, and it can go straight back to Banggood. Where it will probably arrive next year just in time for CNY.
March 10, 2016 at 2:42 pm #28724I ordered a Cube i7 Stylus, using expedited shipping. They sent it last week (Friday or Saturday), and gave me a tracking number, apparently with PostNL. But it can’t be found in their system. Is that normal or should I start to be worried?
