I’d love this too! But unfortunately it doesn’t come on the Xiaomi Notebook Pro, not sure about the Redmibook Pro, but probably also no charge limiting software.

There is a GitHub where you can find most BIOS versions: https://github.com/Cr0wTom/Mi-Notebook-Pro-Mods

With a quick Google search I found 2 pages for the drivers:

    Hi @johncarlo,

Thank you so much for taking your time to help me so extensively like that. You will be right about the hardware limitation of our laptop. This is the drawback of choosing the less expensive laptop I guess. Though I’m not even mad, it’s not a gaming machine and I can still play some games I like 🙂

    Cheers!

    Hello @johncarlo,

Thank you for your reply. I did some more research and it might have to do with CSGO as a game, but I’m not giving up yet.

In the Nvidia control panel (see attached screenshot), the MX150 is selected as preferred GPU, but the external display is still managed by the intel 620.

Would you mind looking into your Nvidia control panel on the PhysX tab to see if the display is also managed by the iGPU when connected via the type C port via the dongle and with a DP-cable? I’m hoping that by using such dongle, I can bypass the iGPU and connect the monitor directly to the MX150 for better performance.

    Thanks in advance.

(Extremely late to the party, but hey 🙂

    Hello,

I have a small request for you if you don’t mind.

Could you maybe test if your setup can output 1080p at 144 Hz (or even 120 Hz)?

I just bought a 144 Hz monitor that I plug in via HDMI and I can achieve 1080p 120 Hz. The problem I have is that when I try to play CSGO, my fps (and dGPU utilization) on the external monitor is way lower than when playing on the laptop display. This is because de HDMI is controlled by the integrated intel UHD 620 graphics and not the MX150. I would like to know if this can be bypassed by using the Choetech or Xiaomi adapter and a DisplayPort cable. The weird thing is that when playing Rocket League, my fps (and dGPU utilization) is about the same when playing on the external monitor as on the laptop display.

Alright, thank you for the info 🙂

There is also no way to use the BT from the ac 8256 and the wifi from the ax200? Just a random thought, I don’t really know how network cards work 😀

Thank you, I had already found that and it is a great source for mods. I would not upgrade to 906 since bad temperatures are reported here and the BIOS patches for undervolting don’t work on it. Did you update to 906? How is your experience?

Ow I see now. So no more BT at all when installing this WiFi 6 card?

Even CPUID HW monitor tells me my battery has only worn down by 3 % (and this already since first boot), is this even possible? I thought that batteries only held about 80 % of their capacity after 2 years.

Sidenote: I do take care of my batteries by not charging them higher than 60 % and discharging lower than 35 %. Occasionally I charge more when I know I wont have an outlet close by or when I’m gaming and plugged in for 2 hours.

After 2 years and 8 months my Mi Notebook Pro holds up pretty well. I don’t have dual boot, but I use it quite a lot during the day and by night I like to play CSGO and Rocket League with friends. This makes the laptop quite hot, so the battery might wear out a little faster than with regular use.

How do you check the wear of your battery? I checked it with the battery-report.html, but this doesn’t say much. It didn’t even count the cycles. The design capacity is 60 040 mWh and since the beginning (2018-04-02) it indicates a full charge capacity of 58 588 mWh, which is still the same? I suppose this is wrong and it has decreased over the years, but I have no idea how to check it.

Wow that’s amazing! I might try that to when I get a WiFi 6 router 😀

    Hi @freddycom,

I’m not very familiar with network cards, but I’m wondering why you are placing the AX200 card in the second PCIe slot instead of just replacing the old card. I’d love to do the upgrade to WiFi 6 too, but I would like to use my secondary M.2 slot as extra storage. I found online that the connection of the original AC 8265 is the same as th AX200 card, so why didn’t you just replace the network card? Is it because you need other antennas for WiFi 6?

Sorry for all the questions, cheers!

Hi, I know I’m very late on this topic, but I would also like to update my BIOS from 502 to 603 to be able to apply the voltage unlock patch to undervolt the CPU.

What happened after the fail message? You laptop didn’t brick? Are you still on 502?

Hi @felince, not sure if you bought the 970 evo, but I’m planning on buying it. What you can do is place the 970 evo in the secondary M.2 slot, migrate the partitions from your primary SSD (so also the OS) to the 970 evo and then swapping them from slot. This way you have the larger SSD in the primary x4 slot and the original smaller SSD in the secondary x2 slot 😉

Hope this helps, I know I’m a little late to the party 😀
