Hi all,
I’ve tried to run XJUbunTab ( latest build 07/09/2016 ) on my Mediacom W810 ( italian version of Chuwi Vi8 ) but without success π
To let it boot, the only way is to modify GRUB.CFG :
from…
linuxΒ Β Β /casper/vmlinuzΒ file=/cdrom/preseed/custom.seed boot=casper iso-scan/filename=${iso_path} quiet splash —
to…
linuxΒ Β Β /casper/vmlinuzΒ file=/cdrom/preseed/custom.seed boot=casper iso-scan/filename=${iso_path} video=VGA-1:800x1280e —
The strange thing is that for let other distros boot ( tried Mint, Ubuntu itself, Fedora, Fedlet, … ) the string must be :
video=VGA-1:1280x800e
while on XJUbunTab the values must be inverted. So… This is the only way to let XJU to boot but in effect, it doesn’t start. I see only the mouse ( that continues to move all around the screen if I move it, so it’s alive ) and a box bottom in the screen ( based on some screen shots of XJU, I suppose it’s the keyboard ). Well, at this point, the tablet hangs. No other things, no differences… Simply at this point, I cannot see anything else ( waiting 1 to 20 minutes ). Any help will be appreciated π
September 16, 2016 at 2:43 pm #49901I believe all three models, V3,V1 and A1 have 4G options.
Yep, these models are nice but the keyboard is not removable… Skipping the presence of 3G / 4G, there’r better solutions ? Chuwi V10 Plus eg ? Or something else ?
September 15, 2016 at 4:50 pm #49842The Voyoβs offer 4G option that my suit your needs. Only data, no voice.
Sure, nice ! Thx ! π Voyo… is the brand, ok. The model ?
September 14, 2016 at 12:04 pm #49747Just to know…
If I would waive to the 3G builted in module, keeping all other features, there’re some interesting tabs ?!
September 12, 2016 at 2:29 pm #49578The issue is 3G almost none have it.
Unfortunately I know but I need it π Coming from previous tablet Mediacom W810 with internal 3G support. But only 1 Gb ram…
September 8, 2016 at 3:04 pm #49234After some months with the new corporate notebook, I’ve to restart my search π
Looking again for a new tablet… :pSame gaps of my first post :
- good display, at least 10β³
- Intel Quad Core, possibly Cherry Trail models
- at least 4 Gb RAM
- at least 64 Gb SSD
- at least 2 USB ports ( 1 Micro USB + 1 Micro or Standard USB )
- 3G Module present ( I need it for job travels )
- HDMI Port ( Micro / Mini / Standard, it doesnβt matter but I need one port )
but with KEYBOARD ( of course )
February 2, 2016 at 4:45 pm #24784Any new advice regarding a future tablet ? π
December 14, 2015 at 1:27 pm #18571Uhm it’s not easy to find a Surface with 3G onestly… π Anyway it’s very expensive !!
I don’t want to replace my I7 with a new tablet with the same performance, it’s just to find a tablet not too slow to permit me to do more or less same things that I use to do with my old notebook ( it’s a home PC, no games, no heavy apps, no photoediting… just internet, movies, office, etc ) π

September 7, 2015 at 1:31 pm #11075Hi all,
my name is Cris, this’s my first post on your forum π
Nice, I would like to ask 1 thing and say my opinion. I’ve a Chuwi too, precisely a VX8 3G ( 1 Gb Ram & 16 Gb SSD ), so sorry if it’s not the same of this section, the VI10 but the topic is exactly the same… If I manage different values in bios USB options? What’s happens?Β I’m looking for a simple way to dump my bios in order to avoid problems in the future… I’ve looked for any updates in these last months but I was no lucky, nothing new regarding the bios…
I’ve been able to update my tablet to Win 10 TP this past winter, different builds, then to Win 10 RTM B10240 and actually I’m on B 10532. I’ve also managed different Linux distros like Ubuntu 15.04, Linux Mint 17.02, Fedora On Tablet 10.08.2015 but I’m still wishing to find a solution to charge the battery and, in the same time, to use OTG devices. And for this reason, I’m trying to mod the bios settings… This is the reason for which I would like to dump the original bios… ’cause if I’d have a disaster, I’ll have a good solution to unbrick the Chuwi π
