Chris, it’s not difficult to open. It took about 15 mins in total taking my time. Like all these things if you rush or use too much pressure you’ll break something. I used a plastic ipod spudger/ opening tool and a guitar pick to create a gap between the metal rear case and the plastic bezel. the metal case has hooks which clip in to spaces in the bezel and it ‘pops’ once you seperate the two. work around the tablet taking your time. As you can see there is noting attached to the metal case like ribbon cables etc. Good luck. R.
November 3, 2016 at 1:06 pm #56348Hello, I should post an update to my original post. I EVENTUALLY got a full refund back from gearbest + postage but it was a serious struggle that went on for about 8 weeks. That’s another story. I ordered another mini usb 3.0 through ebay but I got a ctype in the post. It only lasted 1 week before the same issue. Since I have made a living fixing mobile devices (and hence know a bit about them) I risked opening mine up and found a latent defect in the way the screen cable is designed and taped down. I have posted another thread about my rep a good charge air on this site. So reset and good charge isn’t going to cut that one. Point is, the device is under warranty and I shouldn’t have to open it up and risk warranty because of an assembly defect. That said, the tablet seems to now be running well and as expected for the money.
Here’s the link to the other post
I hope this helps.

September 22, 2016 at 5:37 am #50399Update: Gearbest have indicated they will honour their DOA policy and refund cost plus shipping once they recieve the tablet. I am still keen to buy one so looking for advice on whether to buy first version with mini usb 3 or ctype which seems to have more issues associatex with it. Any suggestions? Both are available in dual boot for similar money.
September 17, 2016 at 11:52 am #50011Mine is also DOA. I’ve bought a few tablets but first problem I’ve ever had. Here’s hoping Gearbest will honour their policy.
September 17, 2016 at 11:46 am #50010Sadly my Iwork 10 c-type arrived dead on arrival as well 3 days ago. It seems like it’s charging with the blue light flashing. It just won’t turn on. Just trying to get some sort of solution with Gearbest. They aren’t leaping to help me. Sad really.
