Try to format it to FAT32! Had some minor problems with NTFS, but nothing with FAT32 yet.
May 30, 2016 at 11:59 am #39131Hi to all,
i’m new and not a geek. pls help!
i’ve used my new cube iwork10 dual OS (bought from gearbest) without any problem for 2 months until yesterday.
I used 64 GB MicroSD SDXC (under fabric settings, i.e. without any formatting done before use) with videos and mp3s with VLC and others Apps: not any problem.
During the use of All connect to stream music to my Yamaha hi-fi it stopped working. I realized that the microSD is not working any more or better to say it is not read by the cube tablet. To summerize the situation:
- Windows10: it doesn’t read it. but if you insert or pull it you hear the typical windows sound, but it is not recognized under file explorer;
- Android: it doesn’t read it. if you insert it you see the message “preparing SD card – searching errors” and then “SD empty or filesystem not supported”. If you try to format it android crashes…
- On PC: the SDcard works perfectly: read/write/format
- I reformatted the SDcard FAT32 – exFAT – NFTS but always same problems like point 1-2-3
It doesn’t seems an hardware problem (the sound under windows and the message under android..) but i’m not sure
It seems to be that the tablet cannot read the SDcard so it should be software problem: SD card reader driver???
Can something be done for the SDcard?
Does a Android factory reset or hard reset could solve it?
Do I have to reinstall everything (win + android) on the tablet?
sorry but pls help cause i really do not know what to do….
many thanks

Put the sdcard in your main computer and press windows button + “R” without quotes.
Write “diskpart” and hit enter.
Write “list disk” and find your sd card.
Write “select disk x” with x replaced by the number of your sdcard.
Write “clean”.
Write “format fs=ntfs”
Write “create partition primary”
Write “exit”.
Done, everything should work again.May 30, 2016 at 7:59 pm #39187hi flubski, thanks for help. i can arrive to the command “format fs=ntfs” but the answer is “No volume selected Select a volume and retry”. the volume (2) s selected (* is there) but it doesn’t want to go ahead.
afer this the MicroSD card is not seen in Windows: i.e. i see it as sxdc card but do not see dimensions, cannot format it, cannot open t… how i can recover it?

May 30, 2016 at 8:16 pm #39191Micro Sd recovered with Windows (computer management and disk management) and formatted ntfs… now it is read by Windows
tried the diskpart dos command but the same problem as above…
May 31, 2016 at 12:19 pm #39326Try to do the same process again and leave out “format fs=ntfs”.
Just write “create partition primary” after you successfully cleaned the sdcard.May 31, 2016 at 7:36 pm #39379Try to do the same process again and leave out “format fs=ntfs”. Just write “create partition primary” after you successfully cleaned the sdcard.
“format fs=ntfs” should be after “create partition primary”. Otherwise thanks to “clean” command there will be nothing to format (no partitions). I don’t remember if there is need to select partition 1 before issuing format command but it might be selected by default.
May 31, 2016 at 8:57 pm #39392hi the solution of martin works: clean – create partition primary – format fs=ntfs. I will try if it works as soon as it is finished (the format process is long)
but by navigating through Windows 10 i realized that it could be a driver problem. I attach some pictures (they refer to another MicroSD card) that shows:
- Windows do not see the SD
- under “Hardware management” and “problem resoultion” (in italian Gestione dispositivi e risoluzione dei problemi hardware) you can see that something do not work for SD card reader driver. I tried to reinstall it theogh Windows but without any success: the message i got is “impossible to start the device (code 10)”
is it a driver problems? how i can get the right one? how i can install the driver (considering win10 is not able to do it)?

If you want a SD card will work without problem, a cheap 8GB (not SDHC, SDXC, and any other fancy SD names) will work without problem. It seems it has problem detecting SDHC/SDXC cards.
You can try to use another cards, or try to format the card at Android. Until now I still don’t know what exactly the problems, people at Cube forums said it just drive problems, they disabled driver signing and install old Windows 8 driver and the problem disappear.
June 1, 2016 at 9:31 pm #39531tried a cheap 2gb sd card but the results are the same.
it should be a driver/controller problem…does someone can hel to find the right drivers and how to install them?
thanks for help
June 1, 2016 at 11:21 pm #39553I have a PNY High performance 128GB which I got for this tablet and it works great. The speed I get from the tablet are ok, but not as good as the speed from a laptop using a USB3 microsd reader.
I have also used the PNY Turbo performance 32GB, which is faster on the laptop but gave the same speed on the tablet.
June 5, 2016 at 9:10 pm #39953my sandisk 64gb card was recognized in windows but not android on this tablet – it was formatted exfat when i used it in my old tablet…
Android detected the card but said not readable – I let android reformat it…then it worked in both android and Windows…looked at properties and saw android had formatted it in FAT32.

That is quite sad. From my experience this tablet can’t read NTFS and now it seems that exFAT also :(.
June 6, 2016 at 5:56 pm #40042NTFS and exFAT work fine in windows, but android wants FAT32 ( or FAT ) and nothing else.

That is true for this tablet and probably most of official firmwares on other devices with Android because NTFS and exFAT are licenced by Microsoft. Unofficial firmwares doesn’t have any problems with those file systems under Android.
