May 24, 2019 at 4:07 am #151950Thanks for your advice, since the battery is working fine, it can last many hours on ubuntu budgie, basically battery life hasn’t change. Therefore I don’t think i will spend money for a new one until battery life starts to get shorten.

May 9, 2019 at 9:37 am #151685really? I am planning to reset the bios by disconnecting battery for a while when I have time later this week.

May 9, 2019 at 4:46 am #151676thank, I have tried this brightness program in Lubuntu but I just couldn’t get the desire screen tone i want.
I go back to ubuntu budgie now.

May 8, 2019 at 7:22 am #151662It happens to other OS like deepin… it needs more treaks to make thing work. I gave up.

May 7, 2019 at 2:21 am #151647i am using ubuntu budgie on my 3 pro and it doesn’t lag. it has a 120GB Adata X600 SSD installed, though.
I need night light mode on at all time and i need my portable external monitor to work properly, I have tried Kubuntu, lubuntu, Manjaro budgie/KDE, ubuntu… ubuntu budgie is the one that seems to suit my needs. Lubuntu uses lxqt, i could get night light mode working as i desire ( redshift) and external portable monitor control brightness was not working properly, so I gave it up.
The track pad works but it’s kind of a bit inaccurate for all distro. I prefer to use a 5 buttons mouse myself.

May 6, 2019 at 5:33 am #151636installed ubuntu budgie 19.04 on a ADATA X600 SSD, wifi works 100% of the time, trackpad is working as well.
With TLP on, I got an estimated battery life of 12 hours when fully charged. after using it for around 3 hours yesterday in Starbucks for web surfing and reply emails (no youtube streaming..etc) , battery % was 73%. no bad.

April 20, 2019 at 1:06 pm #151444just did a fresh install on biwin 60GB SSD, it’s more sluggish than the ADATA X600 on ezbook 3 pro… maybe it has something to do with the distro’s kernal/driver….

February 1, 2019 at 1:55 am #150357I installed ubuntu 18.10 in minimal installation setting, everything seems to be working straight out of the box.
there is some delay when I open the app menu and I have yet figured out whether or not all drivers are properly installed, I am completely new to ubuntu and I need a bit more exploration before I can make further comment.
Trackpad is work but no gesture, wifi is working.
typing is smoother, it was terrible in window 10.
Playing videos in youtube is smooth, it was very slow in chrome to change the video to full screen mode, now is quicker
UPDATE: Intel wifi driver disconnection issue still exist in Ubuntu….

January 31, 2019 at 3:33 pm #150349I am very ignorant about Linux OS but I just “accidentally” wiped my win 10 drive and installed Cloudready OS… I tried to test it on USB or install it on my empty eMMc drive, so when I saw install, I clicked… I thought it would let me choose which drive I want to install the OS but it just didn’t… windows 10 drive gone!
well… since there was nothing much I could do at that point, I decided to try it out. It’s running smoothly but trackpad is not working at all, I have to use my wireless mouse but scolling is SLOW while browsing website…
Regarding the functionality of the OS, it is severally lacking, I installed VLC as an extension and downloaded the media codec pack in setting, and I cannot play the mp4 videos in my hdd.
I turned on Linux beta and managed to updated some files… sudo apt-get.. upgrade…etc….
up until now, I have yet figured out whether or not I can install some linux apps on this laptop….
UPDATE: the laptop just turned into sleep more while I am typing here and the screen is not blank, i cannot wake it up again…..
Shxt…. not so good so far…
might give Ubuntu 18.10 a shot….

January 23, 2019 at 11:03 am #150201after hearing what you have said, I decided to stuck with Win 10 for now.
Does it mean if I disable touchpad , the chance of having CPU loading issue will reduce significantly?
It’s hard to imagine how this touch pad can affect so much in this laptop. I will test it later.
thanks a lot.

January 18, 2019 at 8:05 am #150113Oh thank you so much for your detail reply, really appreciate indeed!
I am still on the fence, though. The biggest con of this laptop for me is actually the CPU, 100% workload “bottleneck” happens quite often, I did already disable quite a few unnncessary services already but still it can be laggy sometimes, alway the CPU.
This is the only reason why I was wondering whether or not a Linux OS would help a bit.
Based on your valuable experience, Cloudready is the best bet I have for smoother experience, does it use LESS CPU as well?
my ezbook 3 pro comes with a ssd, and I hate the touchpad on it, usually I use my own wireless mouse instead.
I will do a bit more researchon cloudready OS first, thanks again!

January 13, 2019 at 4:10 pm #150016I saw a 10000 mah power band from Xiaomi that has a output of 5.1V/2.4A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A…
1.5A might be charging at slower rate but it is 12V,though. I saw 3.5mm/1.35mm DC to USB cable for sale as well…
does they work with ezbook 3 pro? thanks
p.s. I found some portable power bank designed for laptop charging but they are generally very expensive.
