It looks like your screen is not rotating when you rotate the tablet. It could be a problem with the Accelerometer  which senses when the tablet is rotated.

    1. Have you tried removing the rotation lock in settings in Android?
    2. Is this a dual boot tablet? If it is boot into windows and see if the screen rotates when you rotate the tablet. If it does then the problem is in Android. If it does not, then the Accelerometer is not working.

    1. Uninstall the app and reboot. Check if the annoying window pops up. Then install the one I linked to. If it pops up then somewhere in Windows is a setting to run this file on startup. You will need to check where it is starting from. For that the best is Autoruns from Microsoft.  Link() Autoruns Using that you can find every program and service that starts up automatically. Find the app and you can then disable it from startup.
    2. This is a known problem with Android. It locks the SD port and will not release it till you reboot. Unfortunate but that is not a Win problem. No known workaround found as yet.

Anybody else noticed the malware on the android side of the tablet. Keep getting full sized adverts popping up from nowhere anyone know how to get rid of them . Tried antivirus and malware programs which find the problem but can’t delete them. Thanks

No malware comes with the tablet. This is from some APP you installed after that. The best way is to get CCCleaner and remove the apps YOU installed one by one and also check what is running in the background. If that fails then do a clean Refresh and get back to the Factory settings.

I’ve downloaded the driver from the link you give but I can’t seem to extract it. Double Driver also can’t recognize it. Is the archive broken?

Nope. Not corrupt. You need to download and use the LATEST version of Winrar. You are using an old version.

Thanks alot for the info, just ordered mine at geekbuying. 1 . Was referring to those severe problem where the temperature approach/reach Tjmax and throtting will occurs, such as those in the x98 pro (without heat mod). 2. Hmm.. thought acronis supported ext2,ext3 and ext4 for disk/partition level backing up and recovering, what file system is android using exactly? 3. I have trouble opening the downloaded drivers pack for some reason even though the full 60.5mb is downloaded, will have to try again later or another day on another connection, keeps showing as corrupted. And another question, what do I get if i factory reset the android system? Back to the state where bloatware and the windows/OS switcher is installed? Or to a state that even these 2 (the OS switcher is important) are gone?

    1. Not Sure
    2. Haven’t tried but you can.
    3. UPDATE your Winrar. This file was not uploaded by me and was also made using the latest version of Winrar which is not backward compatible. So get the latest official version. The file is NOT corrupt.

Factory reset is just that – the image stored on the hidden partitions are put back. ALL your apps will be removed. As though this is the first day you got your Chuwi. Of course after the reset you can download your apps as Google keeps a list of them.

Then this is what you do:

In Windows, restart to free the SD card.

Before switching to Android, remove the SD card.

When you switch back to windows, insert the card and windows will recognise it.

If someone else knows of any other “fix” please post it here.

    1. Yes. All these tablets suffer from heat especially if you are playing games. See if this helps: http://www76.zippyshare.com/v/fmAPgRzV/file.html
    2. Yes it works on the Windows side, not Android
    3. Don’t know but you can find the complete set of drivers in my tutorial, including the switcher here: http://techtablets.com/forums/topic/how-to-update-to-windows-10-on-chuwi-vi8/
    4. Not that you can delete/merge “Safely”
    5. There always is. Use a proper Partition manager, Although after upgrading to Windows 10 I had 18 gigs free in Windows AFTER installing the OS.
    6. Yes. I used the files here. Extract, and run the .BAT file. This worked for me. You will need to install the Android SDK. Included the needed windows drivers. http://www83.zippyshare.com/v/RdE4SlUs/file.html
    7. No. And I don’t think there will be.

This is a known problem. Android grabs and holds onto the SD card port and this is why.
To enable access, after you switch to Windows 8.1, Eject the card, re start Windows 8.1 and then re insert the card. Windows will now see it.

One thing you can try is to reinstall Windows 8.1 – the Original one that came with your Chuwi. These links will help you. Use Google translate to your language and see if it helps

His there anyway to get a fresh reset of win 8.1 bing as it was out of the box. Does this install of win 10 give you back some of your memory? Thanks

If you used a USB as extra storage as I detailed in my tut, then the upgrade will save a copy of your old OS on it in case you need to go back. So a restore to Windows 8.1 will be possible provided you have the USB stick used in the upgrade. But since you did a clean install, there is no way to go back from what you have.

There are some sites that detail how you can do a re-install of windows 8.1 and provide the files but I have never tried it. Mostly Non English – French, Russian and Chinese sites. See if this helps (use Google Translation if needed)

After upgrading to Wind0ws 10 I did get an increase of memory. The Windows drive now shows 18 gigs FREE.

Also check here. I have not Downloaded but it may be the files you are looking for to re-install windows 8.1?
