I have one of the tablets with only Windows (from the first batch, serial number below 2000) and I updated last night without a problem. Even more, before the update the tablet didn’t recognice the microphone, and now it works!!! I don’t know why, but I’m happy with it.
In your case I don’t know, I would probably wait before removing the Android partition, probable someone with more knowledge could advise you better. Good luck!
March 7, 2016 at 7:50 am #28260yes my microphone works. It is located at the bottom right corner. There is a small groove in the case. If I open the Windows mixer for recording device, I can see a Intel SST microphone and the mic level.
I tried recording with Audacity, it works without a problem.
Well, with that and the information in the other post in the forum (“Hi8 Pro dual boot os is here”), I think the conclusion is that the tablets with a serial number between 0 and 2000 might have some different hardware inside, and therefore a different BIOS. Mine is one of them, what makes me wonder now if it will end up receiving any BIOS update.
I am not sure, but I will try to open the tablet in the future to check if any different component is visible in the inside.March 6, 2016 at 7:44 pm #28228Hi!
Thanks for the pictures!!!
I have a question, have you tested if your tablet recognise a microphone as installed? Because mine doesn’t and if I am not wrong, in the last photo there is one soldered to the motherboard (lower right side of the photo).March 4, 2016 at 8:52 am #27938Hi!
As you will be opening the tablets, could you please, make some photos of the interior, I am just curious to check the interior and see if the motherboard has some connection unused.
Good luck with the repair!!!
February 3, 2016 at 5:21 pm #24871On the minus side, there is a spot on the screen that looks like a ~3mm bubble in the lamination.
Hi!
Check it, because maybe it is only a bubble or some stuff between the included screen protector and the screen itself (I had to remove a bubble myself on mine).February 2, 2016 at 8:47 am #24732Hi Dave . Are you still getting 5 hours on 95% to 100% via the battery care at 0% brightness?
Well, I have tested battery the old fashion way, just keep in mind that I have obtained this by using the tablet for comic reading only during the test, using the Comics++ application, with 0% brightness and with the wifi on but with little use, in this conditions the tablet has been working from 100% battery to 16% battery after 6 hours (total time of use, not in a single boot), and I stopped the test because I moved to a different location and needed to increase the brightness.
If the tablet is used for web browsing or some other thing the battery duration will be for sure different.January 23, 2016 at 9:30 am #23423Hi!
Not at all. I think the battery app I installed is not gettign along with the battery, it changes the battery estimation a little bit randomnly. The first estimation (around 4 hours) seems to be more accurate, but I will try to test the battery duration the old fashion way with a clock.January 11, 2016 at 6:34 pm #21928Yeah and about charging. I heared that such cheapmchineese tablets are still draining battery while beeing connected to power suply and even light using at the same time.
Well, I test it as well as I could. The logs of the programs I been using show that at heavy use (playing Anomaly Warzone Earth) it will charge the tablet without problem at minimum screen bright, but as you increase the bright it will arrive at full bright charging the battery at an extremely low speed (or even no charging but no discharging situation). I hope this help you to solve your question, no problem at all to use the tablet and charge it at the same time if you are making a normal use.
How much battery life can we expect from this tablet, have you done some tests?
With the battery fully charged, the windows app and the BatteryCare programs indicate approximately a battery life of 4 h 10 minutes. To charge completely the battery I think it takes approximately 3 hours, but I think it was while playing a video, so probably it will take less time with the tablet shutdown or hibernating.
### EDIT ###
Well, now it shows almost 5 hours with a 95% o battery charge (and 0% brightness), I will keep using it and see how it responds in reality…
### ###How did you get one so early?
I don’t know, I was checking out the store for the Vi8 Plus (as the previous day the Hi8 was out of stock) and then by curiosity, checking out the Hi8 Pro page I found out they were expecting to receive new stock, and then as soon as it arrived I placed the order.
Strange thing, as i know z8300 have 1.84 Ghz max frequency. But as i can see at your screenshots max frequency is 2113 !
Must be an old version of HWinfo miss reading the clock speeds?
I didn’t notice that either! Any idea of any other program to check it again, it’s weird.
January 10, 2016 at 2:49 pm #21776Hi!
About the disk speeds, I don’t know if the disk is fast or not, but the experience using it is good. Maybe it is because my regular laptop is not equipped with an SSD drive, but I’m not finding an incredible difference with the tablet (OK, there might be some differences, but what can you expect for a ~100$ computer? For that price, the experience is in my humble opinion really good). And when launching programs (normal programs, I’m not planning to use something as Inventor in the tablet) or using Internet (using Edge) it doesn’t feel slow, it is not instantaneous, but is quite fast.I’ve been trying to do some tests of the battery performance, but I’m quite busy these days. I hope in a few days I will be able to upload some data about it.January 8, 2016 at 7:06 pm #21579Well, my impression of the cameras is that the colours are a little too saturated in the automatic mode, but it allows you to use the manual settings for White balance, ISO, shutter speed and exposure, so the results might be better in manual mode. The images also present noise in low light environments.
And about the charging, I still need a little more time to check what you indicated, it does seems to charge right under heavy use (playing Anomaly Warzone Earth, which works perfectly) but I will try to gather some more data, as I usually have the tablet in the minimum bright setup and increasing the screen bright might lead to the situation you indicate.
January 8, 2016 at 6:38 pm #21576Hello Tarum!
I’m sorry to hear that your tablet is not working. Have you managed to fix it?If I remember well, each time I connect mine to the charger while it is turned off, the screen switches on for a couple of seconds showing a splash screen of Chuwi with text in Chinese, and for what I see your doesn’t do that, maybe it is something related with the screen not working?
I don’t have experience with this type of tablets, but it is probably a good idea to contact the seller as soon as possible!
January 6, 2016 at 8:16 pm #21412About the Windows 10 update, if Therehold2 is the Windows 10 Version 1511 as I read on Internet, I think it is included as all the updates make reference to it . As I read, other symbols of the update are the possibility to coloured title bars or the option “Find My Device”, all present in the tablet, so all seems to indicate that the Therehold2 update is installed.
About the photos, it doesn’t seem promising (or I am not a good photographer, which is quite possible 😉 ), but if tomorrow I have enough time I will try to make some and share them. And for the charging and simultaneous heavy-duty using, the only way I can think to do it is by gaming and charging at the same time. Is that what you have in mind? If I have time I will try to install Civilization V and test it.
January 6, 2016 at 10:23 am #21362Well, I found information in a Spanish forum (hispatablets) about a guy claiming that he bought it in that shop, so I check it on their website and they were expecting new stock for this model (I discovered as well that they have the vi8 plus and the hi10), when the tablets arrived I placed the order, and a couple of days later it arrived at my place.
I will try to make some photos of the tablet and post them soon. And if someone have some questions about the tablet I will try to answer them.(I don’t know how to remove the png files from the first post, but here you have the jpg equivalent)Attachments:
