Audio itself is not broken on the Hi10 . I tried Headphones and they do work, bluetooth too, so its not an driver problem. Its a problem in the Alsa-UCM files (basically the mapping/routes), thats where our speaker mapping is broken and needs to be fixed. Here is the relevant config which needs to be installed: https://github.com/plbossart/UCM/tree/master/bytcr-rt5651 Here is an GitHub issue about the rt5651 which is the audio hardware in our device. Maybe someone can work out a fix.

It seems we are close to get a fix. Did you try with the latest kernel (4.13-rc1) ?

The Cherry Trail support in the new kernels looks great, but unfortunately I haven’t got video to work with any kernel since 4.8.13 on my Hi10 pro (X5-Z8300). Modesetting sends me right to a black screen. I’ve tried loads of pci and graphics-related kernel parameter tweaks and the only way to boot with video is through nomodeset on the new kernels, while the new intel drivers work fine with the old kernels. My best guess right now is bad EDID. closest to 4.8.13 I tried was 4.10.1 (arch), no success; also tried 4.2.rc2 (ubuntu) with same error

First thing I would do is verify that you have the latest BIOS updates. There have been many different Hi10 versions (via serial numbers) and corresponding BIOS firmware, and also depending if it’s a dual-boot or single-boot Hi10. I’d also scan the Chuwi forum and ask if anyone else is seeing this same problem. http://forum.chuwi.com/forum.php?mod=forumdisplay&fid=83&filter=typeid&typeid=1

I have the same issue. I have installed Debian with kernel 4.9 but newer kernel versions fail always. To update the BIOS is not available in the Hi10 Pro because:

<span style=”color: red;”>To flash bios will erase the product key, so we don’t offer the Hi 10 pro bios in the forum. Besides, to flash bios is risky, it will brick your tablet if your use a incorrect bios. </span>

    Any workaround is welcome

do a google search for something like “Installing Remix OS on HDD using Ubuntu”

No, I don’t because RemixOS is already installed so I don’t want to installing anything, just configure Grub.

I have got dual OS finally: RemixOS and Debian 9. By default it boots on RemixOS (the white screen shows Android icon on init). I can choose Linux by pressing F7 when tablet is starting because is in the EFI entry list. I don’t know how to add RemixOS in the Grub config or set the Linux EFI entry with priority #1 in the UEFI configuration.

    Hi,

does anyone get Android or RemixOS boot from Grub?

I want to keep a dual system in my Hi10 Pro: RemixOS and Linux. I have installed Debian Stretch 9 rc2 sucessfully and removed Windows 10 partitions (NTFS and EFI). But Debian installation wizard doesn’t ask for the grub installation. Android-IA boot doesn’t work: booting is stopped in the Chuwi logo screen.

I have tried with several distributions: Linux Mint (kernel 4.4 so partitions modifications doesn’t work), Linuxium’s Ubuntu (only works with nomodeset kernel option, so it’s stalled in 800×600 resolution). Debian 9 seems to be fine for the basic features., just need to install the additional drivers like Wifi, touchscreen, etc.

Hello everyone and thanks for the website techtablets. I have bought a Chuwi vi8 plus that i’m using as i speak, i bought all kind of connectics and its perfect. I’d like to try a few things and for this i need to boot from a USB key. I have managed to go in the bios by pressing “esc” at startup and in the bios

Sorry, I cannot enter in BIOS by pressing Esc key. Sometimes I have entered in BIOS by pressing some volume keys, but I don’t know how to.

I have another issue: battery is discharged after some days power off. How much time would it takes the battery goes to 0% from 100% if the tablet is power off?
