    Devon,

Are you sure this is for the Hi8?

I’ve downloaded the main 500mb file and it’s named “img_S806_Chuwi_Super_DualOS_Wifi_V1.0.2”

This looks like the firmware for the “Chuwi VI8 Super DualOS” ?

I’ve uploaded it here anyway for others to see: https://mega.nz/#!fxQm0L6Q

Doing my best to download this, very slow from Baidu though. Will upload somewhere else once I get it.

No photos, apps, documents. So I think you’re right, they’ve changed it to English. Well that’s good then, thanks for the info guys 🙂

    And yes, love the site!

Case finally shipped July 4th, day after I posted this. As with before, the tracking number they’ve given me does’nt work anywhere, not even the mystery tracking site the rep gave me which worked for the tablet. Anyway, I’m sure it will arrive. GB just seem to have some teething issues..

Bummer. I did similar, but mine booted fine thankfully. I can’t seem to get newer drivers to install, and suspect this is for a reason.

If I were you, next step would be to plug in a keyboard and hold down erm.. F8? Or ESC… Whichever is the key that Windows 8 uses to get the special boot menu up. It should allow you to restore/recover or select SAFE MODE and from there you’ll be able to work on it further.

Ouch! Damn man…. sorry to see that, what a bummer 🙁

I’m looking for a case myself to try and protect it. Chinatabs don’t have Gorilla glass hey.

I know BangGood sells “Outer screen replacement parts” for the Chuwi VI8. I assume this means the glass and touch panel. I doubt it would fit the Hi8, but it does mean they might sell the Hi8 screens soon? Or Ali perhaps?

I’d highly recommend Banggood, when compared to other stores of it’s type. That is, cheap online Chinese electronics stores.

Unlike many online stores, I’ve found Banggood fairly trustworthy.

    Positives
+ If they say it’s in stock, it’s IN STOCK!
+ Order processing times displayed on each item, and are accurate. Eg. If it says “Ships within 24 hours” it will.
+ Website is great. Shows you all stages of processing items, refunds are made EASY, lots of detail on items, etc.
+ Support responds in 24 hours or less (I’ve used this 3 times, each time perfect)
+ Refunds are provided without much effort.
+ New items added almost daily, and every 7 days or so they have Deals which are usually quite interesting.

    Negatives

    – It’s still a Chinese online retailer, so don’t expect miracles. The products are cheap, and English is good but not great.
    – Occasionally they’ve sold counterfeit goods from what I’ve read, but resolved it with customers as soon as its identified. I suspect this is simply a case of suppliers/factories ripping off Banggood, and them not knowing any better, especially as it’s hard for me to even identify which item is real and which is fake (eg. Sunnysky motors)
    – I’ve seen many products with photos that imply several units are included in the purchase, but if you read the details it actually only includes one. I suspect the factoriesu7products with several items in the photo, but if you read the item it says it includes only one. Dodgy. I suspect there is factory/manufacturer involvement here, perhaps taking the photos, as it’s not really in BangGoods interest to be doing this.
    – Reboxing the items saves on postage but isn’t very nice for gifts, reviewers, or reselling.

Heres a list of my purchases this year

The “Processing” item above is due to 1 item out of the 4-5 in that order having a processing time of 1 week, which I knew before ordering. I can ask them to split, or just wait which I’m doing.
