leslie, i measured the current draw from the port and the tablet would happily provide, 220mA which should be okay for some thing like an Ethernet adapter; however, the shutdowns are largely dependent on what the tablet itself is doing. i.e screen and processor power draw.
i find that i still have to use a usb Y cable for power hungry devices like hdds
i dont have an usb to ethernet adapter to test unfortunately

your right regarding power hungry devices….works okay with peripherals such as simultaneously using a mouse, keyboard and memory stick via a bus powered hub but with something like my solid state hdd i have to ensure i have only one or two applications running whilst in use. otherwise the tablet shuts down.
this means the port is somewhat limited to low power devices only
January 6, 2016 at 10:26 pm #21422marco: i got my male usb port from an old usb extension cable , i am sure pcb mount versions are available at places like ebay…..just make that it is straight header port and not 90 degree.
jonathan is right there is no way this will work at usb3 speeds …as there are only two data lines…usb3 requires more
also the micro usb port only operates at usb2 speeds.
somebody else asked for a pin out or diagram …..there is nothing to it really. the solder tabs were clearly labelled on my pcb at least so i am assuming others will be the same. just match up the pins to the solder tabs on the pcb, a quick google search for ‘usb pinout’ will give you all the info you need.
December 15, 2015 at 10:41 am #18678are you not better off with a cheaper usb2 one? you will only be able to use the usb2 bus with the device. oh well if youve already purchased it then no point returning.. cheap enough anyway.
November 18, 2015 at 11:23 am #16046its very easy to do actually, the solder pads for the USB data and power are large enough to used a standard soldering iron tip if your careful. filing the aluminum case took all of ten mins, i did have to cut some of of the plastic on the back of the screen to allow the case to fit properly, just use a sharp blade for that.
easy mod in my opinion but you do lose your warranty and given the poor build quality of the tablet, you never know when you need to return for warranty purposed.

November 17, 2015 at 3:59 pm #15999guys any update on touch driver issue..? i too had the reverse touch screen control after a fresh windows 10 install and not touch driver doesn’t work at all in windows.
Look at the first post in this thread: http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/teclast-x98-pro-chinese-edition-how-to-do-a-fresh-win-10-install/ To restore the touch screen. Move the touchsetting.gt file (in the drivers download) after installing the goodix driver to C:/Windows/inf and reboot.
many thanks , just saw that a few minutes ago
