Yeah I can get about 2.5 with screen at about 40% brightness, if I connect to my xiaomi 10000mah power bank I can get 7-8 hours screen on time.

I found all Apps 2 SD applications to be pretty rubbish as they do not let you move the obb folders across to your SD card, only data folders.

I am using folder mount on a rooted HI8 and can store lots of games on my device, I have a few 2gb games and plenty of 1gb games on my device and they work great. I’m using a class 10 fast 32gb micro sd

    Reflashing Android Instructions.

So if your windows OS is fine but you are having trouble with Android then here’s how to reflash the Android side.

    1. Download Intel® Phone Flash Tool Lite ( https://01.org/android-ia/downloads/intel-phone-flash-tool-lite )- Click install Standard. This tool loads everything you will need.

2 Download the Android ROM  http://techtablets.com/chuwi-hi8/downloads/

3.Unzip the ROM to your desktop or a folder you can easily find and access.

    4. Open Intel® Phone Flash Tool Lite

    5. Click Browse (top Right of the tool) and find the folder with your ROM you previously downloaded and click on it, Find the flash.xml file and select it (dont worry its probably the only file you can see so its easy) – Now minimize this window as you will need it in a minute.

    6. Now make sure your device is on the booting into Android OS and not the Windows OS and go to developer option and select Android Debugging mode then Power the device OFF.

    7. Connect your device to your computer and boot into DnX mode – (Hold Volume up and Power)

    8. Maximize the Intel® Phone Flash Tool Lite and you now should see your device listed in the top of the window.

    9. Click “Flash” and it will run the program, once finished, close the program and unplug the Device.

    10. Assuming you followed these steps you should be good to go.

    Cheers

This is what im trying to do also. Windows is not very good on this tablet, extremely low quality wifi reception (but not on android) making windows very slow online unless your sitting next to the wifii router, I prefer the android OS.

It should be pretty easy to flash android on the whole system if we can get hold of the android firmware zip (not rar) but no one seems to have it. hopefully someone will mod a 5.1 version soon and we will be able to install it.

Oh and I forgot to say the HI8 comes with a years free Office 365 which you can also install on your main pc under the same license, it gives you all the office programs + 1tb of one drive storage and 60 minutes per month of Skype calls. What are you waiting for?
