Well, guess we will have to wait and see. But judging from the quality of the Kitkat implementation, how much effort went into this, I wouldn’t recommend holding your breath.
August 12, 2015 at 1:26 pm #9468August 10, 2015 at 5:00 pm #9306Like I said before, two pole, three pole, no remote, makes no difference for me. When ipush them all the way in, Android is going bat shit crazy. I suppose you could craft a tiny plastic ring as spacer, putting it over the plug before inserting.
August 9, 2015 at 12:08 pm #9137It doesn’t work that way.
August 9, 2015 at 12:04 pm #9136I have the same issue with any headphone cheap or quality, even with a dedicated microphone (which has another jack for regular headphones to turn them into a headset).
I just insert them very carefully, not all the way in but sticking 1-2 mm out, then all works just fine.
August 9, 2015 at 11:54 am #9134You can install programs anywhere you like with Windows, just not (yet) the apps from Windows Store. Also very easy to move the pictures, music, video and download folders to SD via context menu.
I don’t want a year of MS office because I can have a lifetime of Libre Office for free.
Easily the most useful tool I found was TouchMousePointer, which made the desktop usable without a mouse (which is still better, of course).
August 7, 2015 at 2:07 pm #8932How would anyone have tried? Android builds are device specific and cannot be distributed widely like Windows upgrades. Since there are no lollipop builds for Hi8, there is nothing to try.
August 6, 2015 at 2:46 pm #8799Well… just deal with it! Samsung implemented many things different from standard Android, some for the better (like this), most… not so well. On Samsung devices you can connect NTFS and VFAT formatted sticks for example, which regular Android can’t read because it requires a paid licence. Never tried connecting more than one storage device myself, but seems plausible it is what it tells you it is.
August 6, 2015 at 2:41 pm #8797I usually have it on 75% or 100%, which gives me a medium brightness.
If I need it brighter, I just turn off the auto brightness – if you crank it up to 100% then you will see what the screen is capable of. 😉
August 2, 2015 at 4:12 pm #8293It was already online, but the device thought it was May and located in China, so the activation server plain refused me before I changed that. 😉
No problem with the S user, everything got wiped with 10 anyway. Thanks for this forum BTW, lots of useful information here. 🙂
August 2, 2015 at 4:05 pm #8292I managed to run it without USB drive, had almost nothing installed. Running the media creation tool it filled up C drive to just 245 MB left, but went through the process. It just asked for additional space and I directed it to the micro sd card.
But probably due to low storage it didn’t offer to keep the few installed apps and programs I had, had to opt for a clean wipe. Not much of a problem. Starting up was a pain without a keyboard and with borked touch drivers. The first few questions until I could install the right one were cumbersome, find the right spot to touch (far from the actual screen location) to get the keyboard up, then use that with the mouse.
Anyway, everything works fine now. Safe way to install and keep Windows activated. Just install it right at the beginning.
August 1, 2015 at 1:54 pm #8193Thankfully, this resolved itself when I changed time zone and fetched the current time. Very crisp screen. Got so much to explore now… 😀
July 31, 2015 at 8:40 am #8056Also if you get deeper into that topic, you will see that AFAIK there is not a single device out there with Intel Graphics (*) running Android 5.X. I have backed a Kickstarter for an Intel focused Android build named ConsoleOS, and that dev reports every now and then how difficult it is to get Lollipop working on those chips. Android 5.0 is being skipped alltogether, making good progress with 5.1, but not quite there. And he is not alone, other devs also working closely with Intel on working drivers, coming to the same ends.
So if the Chuwi ever gets Lollipop, it will be 5.1, but I doubt Chuwi is putting any effort into this. Seeing that the Kitkat is also not bug free, freezing on Video playback for some due to overheating. I will keep it on my device if I can work around the limited space, but I will mostly use Windows (10).
(*) There are some devices like Asus Zenfone 2 with Intel Atom 35XX chips, those have PowerVR graphics and might have already been updated to Lollipop, not sure.
July 29, 2015 at 2:35 pm #7770So is it easily removeable or do I risk something with trying to get it off? Would like to know even though I am still waiting for my tablet to arrive. 🙂
