I have a Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard that is really nice, but that kinda kills the whole point of buying the keyboard to start with.  I really needed a clam style setup for the best productivity options.  I’ll just deal with it if it’s normal.  I assume it’s because there is just one normal trigger button for it underneath, and the bar is long so no real support on the sides.  I dunno.

Awesome find!!  I mean, boo on performance loss but stability is more important.  I would rather get used to a little less gaming/power rather than watch the battery like a hawk.  Are there any other settings?  1333mhz?  Maybe only loose a little performance, but only loose 5% rather than 10%?

I ordered a .3 off amazon for 10.99.  If it doesn’t work out, I’ll try the one you mentioned.

Ben may be on to something. Might be why they sent these out with the memory turned down.  If they used non low voltage memory it might be pulling too much on the system, so they had to underclock it to avoid that.  Can someone else who has this repeated issue also turn their memeory back down and try the same game/setup?

That’s great that they are willing to fix it, but it is going to be a pain to ship back to china and wait for it.  It also means it is more than just a simple software fix  🙁  Is this affecting all units?  I hope that maybe mine isn’t affected. I’ll find out when it arrives.

In the mean time, that should also mean they are going to apply this fix to the new tablets that are coming out with Remix OS.  I might upgrade to that just to get the new OS and fixes.  This can be passed to my wife, or sell it.

Awesome so if nothing else someone can make a backup from a factory reset and we should be able to just apply that. What recovery are you using ?  Or did you do an actual install using boot media ?

Well then it sounds like this new display that’s also a stylus support has revealed a weakness in the system. It must draw more power? Hopefully they can fix it, but if it is from a weak battery my thought would be a fix is to limit the display brightness ability..

Chris did you say in your review you thought the new screen was a little brighter? I’m not where I can look it up to verify.. If thst is true it might be pulling more juice.

According to their forum, you have to uninstall all antivirus software, disable windows defender, and turn the display brightness down when the battery gets lower.  Also, it seems you can’t run a lot of power from the tablet once it hits the lower end.

Based on this my guess is something to do with the quality of the battery.  If this was a premature failsafe it wouldn’t make the pop.  I talked to my brother who knows more about this than I do(taken classes on circuitry).  If it is coming through the speakers, he recommended trying to disable the audio in device manager in windows to see if it is the audio chip.  He thinks it is one of the processors in the system pulling too much on the battery.  When a battery gets low, the resistance goes up, making it harder to maintain voltage.  Normal batteries have many cells to keep the voltage up, and just loose amps. He said if the display dimming helps, that means it is better able to maintain the voltage at the low end of the battery.  This is all a result of a low-end battery according to him.

The problem is that I didn’t want to tie up a USB port all the time.  It’s a little bulky(even the nano sticks out some), and if I have to use a usb wifi dongle due to sharing the antenna I wouldn’t have anything left.  The USB 3 will be much faster, but I will sacrifice a few seconds loading to keep the functionality.  I am thinking I will partition the SD card and give Android an extra 20GB or so to install games and vudu movies.  I don’t like the windows vudu app. Horrible.  Keeps messing up and losing my downloaded movies on the netbooks I have.

There are custom screen covers on amazon, and a few Chinese sites.  Can anybody confirm they have tried one of these and it keeps the sensitivity?  User John said he used a SP3 screen, and it works even better than the built-in plastic cover.  Before ordering one on amazon I just wanted to confirm.  I have a stylus coming with the unit (unit shipped!), but I see from the review the plastic cover will not last.  Glass is a must.

Considering this is a big purchase for me and I could incur a lot of fee’s into issues sending it back,  I canceled my order at gear best and ordered with Banggood.  Cost me 20$ more, but with better packaging and someone checking it out to make sure it is good is worth the extra to avoid more room for problems.

After reading Johns review I am also getting more excited about it!

I’ve seen the root and tweak post for android, but what is this about the ram needing to be adjusted?  I thought the advice was to stay out of bios?
