I’ve opened a dispute on paypal and today I’ve had my money back. Obviously I will never order again from GearBest
I stopped using Gearbest as well, they are not trustworthy.
Tip for people that want to open a paypal claim for chargeback:
The smart way to go about this is :
- Respond to Gearbest that you don’t want the order to be sent any longer as you bought/will buy somewhere else. They breached sales agreement by not shipping within expected time.
- “Escalate” your Paypal claim immediately, don’t wait.
If you don’t do these steps, Gearbest will just take the time to still send the order weeks or even a month later as the Paypal claim is still running.
Don’t go along with that and immediately escalate the claim as that will still take a couple of weeks before it is resolved. But you will win and get your money back.
The ground of your claim escalation will be:
- breach of sales agreement as the expected shipping date is not respected and you had to resort to buying elsewhere.
You have to notify Gearbest not to send the order any longer.

Banggood also needs 3 days to refund my money to paypal. Its crazy. There is not a single Chinese website safe to buy after all. Its all about luck and lots of patience. Tried tinydeal, geekbuying and banggood. Few of my orders (small ones with cables etc.) were just fine. Problems started when ordering pre sale items or tablets.
December 12, 2015 at 10:33 pm #18337My first 3 orders from Gearbest went ok. Shipped using NL post… Took between 2-3 weeks to arrive. Then my last 2 X98 tablets took 5 weeks to arrive and looked like the dogs dinner when they finally came. Box was all chewed up, tablets looked like they had been used with back film peeling off…
Anyway. I was dumb enough to order 2 more AirIII units from Gearworst on the 26/11. 2 weeks went by and order is still “processing” contacted Gearworst some week ago and I was told that they are sorry but they are out of stock. Today however, they are having a Christmas sale with 20 units being sold at a special price…
My last order from Banggood was brilliant… Took 8 days to arrive… Also using postNL… Only downpart is that the original packaging is not included, Bang seem to repack certain items for better protection… I dont mind that but I would preferr if Bang could send the original box as well… Just put one box into the other or something…
December 15, 2015 at 9:31 pm #18745Preordered hi8 pro, after a month I canceled it, they would only refund the money to the in store wallet, after this was done they said they could refund it to a paypal account, so I told them to do that. They said ok and closed my ticket. On the 11th the in store credit was missing and it showed that the refund was completed and it is now the 16th and I still do not have the money in my account. The ticket I submitted about this has been ignored for 2 days as well, so lesson learned and fare warning to all with gearbest.com
December 15, 2015 at 10:46 pm #18755<p style=”text-align: right;”>@ Dan.

<p style=”text-align: right;”>Sorry to hear this Dan, something really rubbish is going on with Gearworst. I also contacted them some days ago to ask how come they have a Christmas sale on 20 pcs of X98 Air III units when I have been waiting for 3 weeks on my 2 paid for units to be dispatched… I was told that they are out of stock and I was offered store credit (wallet)… I paid with a VISA debit card… Think I need to start raising this as an issue…
December 17, 2015 at 7:15 pm #18986I initially ordered some cheap stuff (A micro usb to USB adapter and a 3D phone viwer) and everything went fine with Gearbest, though got a fake tracking number but the item arrived anyways. Then I decided to order a Chuwi Hi10 on pre-order, this is when the problems started. The shipping day of November 11 came and went, I asked after a week what had happened and they said “It was a hot sale and we are out, please wait or we can give you in-store credit”. WTF? I pre-ordered it and you filled orders for others that purchased? I waited, and waited, and waited. I asked again and they said it’d be in stock within 7-15 BUSINESS DAYS (not real days). It’s been over 18 business days since then and they still have my money via Paypal in their account and no shipment of product at all, despite saying on their website for over the past month that the item is for sale and ready to ship! I’m initiating a PayPal dispute for a full refund to my PayPal account and not to their in-store credit thing they call their “Gearbest wallet”. They will never get my business again. Beware buying expensive items, if anything, from Gearbest.
December 17, 2015 at 7:23 pm #18988IF WITHIN THREE DAYS OF ORDER, ask Gearbest for a refund…. you usually don’t have to lodge a PP dispute. Ask for the refund before Gearbest marks it “shipped” … then your problems begin. PP will make you wait for the item not to arrive.
December 17, 2015 at 8:06 pm #18997Blah! Paypal is giving gearbest 10 more days to ship out the tablet. What a ripoff. They are holding my money hostage!
December 17, 2015 at 8:14 pm #19001I already asked for a refund a week ago, and they only gave me three options… 1. continue to wait, 2. pick another item, 3. In-store credit (gearbest wallet). No refund even when I asked for one. No refund for not shipping out a product for over a month? They took my money, kept it, and never sent anything out.
December 18, 2015 at 7:45 pm #19106Guess what? I posted to Facebook’s page for PayPal about my plight, they blocked and deleted my comments! WTF is going on over there since they split from Ebay? Now I’m out the money from a rogue reseller and now a rogue “banking” company.
December 20, 2015 at 12:52 pm #19291Another one here… waiting for Teclast X2 since Nov.11th!!! And they just don’t reply to me anymore. Waiting on Paypal action now.
December 23, 2015 at 8:33 pm #19726Gearbest appears to use the float from credit card sales (charge at time of order, use the amount charged to buy inventory, then ship when inventory arrives) to help finance their business. This practice is prohibited by law in many countries, but not in China. Buyer Beware (caveat emptor).
December 31, 2015 at 2:06 am #20649I wish I had a more positive review. Here is my experience.
I ordered a Teclast X16 Power on 11/26.
11/29 – confirmation of payment
12/5 – email, product out of stock
12/10 – email, product ready to ship
12/16 – shipping notice received..tracking link was useless.
12/21 – finally got tracking information from gearbest..product shipped, received at airport in US somewhere, but tracking link still not working.
12/26 – got a working tracking link from gearbest, prodct last updated as shipped in US somewhere
12/30 – tracking info finally updated, product finally shows up.
Tablet was shipped in a thin layer of bubble wrap around the original packaging. I opened the box and the screen was completely smashed and cracked.
I’m now awaiting a response to my request for a refund. I will not be doing business with gearbest.com again.

Never before dealt with a company less interested in customer service and an absolute inability to read what is sent to them and respond appropriately. IF you are reading this, DON’T buy from Gearbest (oops GearWORST)
January 3, 2016 at 4:23 pm #21093Jepp. I second that! Took me a week to get my refund instead of a store credit (wallet) and I had to contact my bank and ask them to cancel the VISA transaction. Banggood seems a whole lot better.
BTW. I gave Gearpest a bad review on Trustpilot but surprisingly enough, Trustpilot decided to ask me for proof of purchase (this has happened to me in the past and it was all good) I sent Truspilot everything, order# and the whole ticket conversation with Gearpest but Truspilot wrote me that it is “not what they need” to publish my review?! Seems like someone is in someones pocket….
