This hub works great on the thinker. I tested HDMI external display (24″ 1080p) and worked perfectlyJuly 1, 2018 at 8:46 pm #144289Gearbest:Xiaomi USB Type-C to Mini DisplayPort Adaptor Converter - WHITE https://gearbest.app.link/OAN39lMQcONot sure if it will work with the external display I’m yet to receive
June 28, 2018 at 2:53 am #144214Hey Tibor, i got my Thinker in May and same as you, other than a few missed keystroke is a perfect ultrabook.
Question, when connecting the Thinker to a 4K display, are you doing it over DP or HDMI? I want to know if its ok with DP as it supports higher res than hdmi according to specs of its intel hd 615. I’ve managed to connect ok via hdmi and charge via usb but sometimes it will make a high pitch noise and get really hot while charging using a 45w xiaomi PD charger, DC charger is ok though)
June 23, 2018 at 6:54 pm #144100I’m afraid all Thinker keyboards are bad, because there are many bad reviews online and mine is also far from good, although is still usable but it misses keystrokes when writing fast and the right shift get stuck sometimes. Note that I am using the Thinker mostly mounted on a VESA arm so I use it with an external keyboard and only when I am out I will use its keyboard, so I am not too bothered about it so I guess there is a chance for the keyboard to get worse after more frequent use.
It would be great to have same specs on the Thinker but with a keyboard like the chuwi lapbook 12.3 which is very good.
June 23, 2018 at 6:45 pm #144099Hi Luis,
Here is the output:
lsusb -t

It says 5000, so I guess It is only 5 Gbit speed
June 23, 2018 at 6:41 pm #144098Hi,
Following your suggestion, I’ve added a plastic pad on the ssd slot and now I am not seeing the error (sata link down on dmesg) however I started to get other libata related errors like “localhost kernel: ata1.00: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x44050000 action 0xa frozen)” which will crash the system forcing me to do a hard reboot. Luckily, after reading several similar, yet ambiguous, bug reports I have apparently managed to fix the ata related crashes (no crashes for a day, before crashes every few mins) for this i’ve added some parameters to the kernel on /etc/default/grub
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=”quiet splash libata.force=<device_number>:noncq,3.0Gbps,udma133″
June 20, 2018 at 9:26 am #144033Hi and thanks for your reply.
Thing is I never noticed this when I used the OS installed on the emmc. It started happening after ssd installation (both on win 10 and ubuntu). I am sure the SSD is making it crash whenever there is some significant move because when I used it on top of the desktop (almost no movements there) it worked stable for weeks without any crash. ThenI would put it on my lap and just the vibration that happens when typing over the lap, will crash it, I can even make it crash at will by moving it fast in the air, so is definitely the SSD under movement (issues with movements had already been mentioned on some threads e.g. https://techtablets.com/forum/topic/second-ssd-does-not-work-on-my-air-13-3-2017/#74792)
My question is if changing to another better brand as Trascend will increase stability? or would still crash due to ssd loosening and movements?
June 18, 2018 at 8:08 pm #144005Really nice thread. Loving the i35 with linux. I have tried ubuntu 18.04 and the touchpad is working fine although i have some issues like random reboots, a few seconds or minutes after session start, or sometimes it will just loop over the display manager (login screen). So I have rolled back to ubuntu 16.04 and hope a newer kernel on 18.04 will fix these issues soon.
