So, how can I tell? I recieved mine yesterday
on mine windows defender didn’t complain about anything, but checking for the key with a keyfinder tells me mine s BBBBB repeated 5 times.
a little searching implies that it was a windows 8.1 probably volume license install to windows 10 although i have read of a couple reports that even installs from ms with a valid key will do this.
i’ll try spybot scan when i get the chance, i.e. i’m treating it as a compromised machine atm. i suspect that they all have this semi-bogus windows install. no idea if they have valid licenses and are just being incompetent or if they’re maliciously ripping us off. i tend in favor of sheer incompetence as someone reported receiving a valid win10 key from them but only home version.
almost forgot i could’ve sworn one of the metro about systems panes once showed win10 preview plus the notifications, settings and some other things were subtly different than on my dell but after updates looked like they did on the dell.
November 5, 2015 at 3:44 am #14973well defender didn’t complain but I have the BBBBB license…
Adding to that when I first received it the metro shit settings looked nothing at all like what I had gifted to me on the Dell 7140(yes back in August M$ apparently also unhid and forced updates to w10 even with them ‘hidden’ however fortunately with the 7140 everything worked afterwards.
I guess time for spybot and request a partial refund/legit key although from what I’ve read here I’d rather have a partial refund rather than a win10 home key.
October 30, 2015 at 11:25 pm #14559well, I macgyvered it out courtesy of of two very tiny paper clips, needle nose pliers to bend one to a very slight L as gripper, the other to wedge on the far side(thanks God the Chinese aren’t good on tolerances), pulled it up enough to expose it, swiss army knife small blade hooked card and popped out, which is how I extracted the 64GB card BEFORE I had that tingling about the gentouch’s card slot.
The gentouch just had even way worse tolerances so it was possible to shove the card right inside of the casing where it rattled around, fortunately this wasn’t as bad.
The gap on mine is between the screen side and the ‘bottom’ side of the tablet. I guess that I just got lucky on the first card insert.
It’s still apparently electrically/mechanically intact as the springs worked(first hint of you missed the slot, no usual spring resistance to card insertion, but see above I figured cheap card slot and the springs had already broken) and upon power up, no magic smoke, no abnormal heat, and the card was readable/writeable.
At this point I’m thinking best to just cut my losses and not even try cracking open the case as murphy will probably strike then releasing the magic smoke, cracking the display, or some other nastiness.
October 29, 2015 at 4:03 am #14405compared to my dell venue 11 pro 7140 the touchscreen is MUCH LESS RESPONSIVE.
Brightness seems to be higher on the i7, and as far as light web browsing is concerned it’s only a few hours shorter of the 7140.
That said I have concerns about OS validity as some metro UI shit says windows 10 preview, meanwhile the regular windows CP OKS it. That said I haven’t scavenged out chibna duplicitinous.
October 29, 2015 at 3:47 am #14403Adding to this reading their ‘if you can’t afford it get someone else to buy it for you…’ line makes me at best queasy
October 27, 2015 at 11:37 am #14305I was refunded in full for my recent order by geekbuying. No problems, although I was prepared to escalate in several ways.
[EDIT]
I suppose that I should also mention that the order never shipped.
[/EDIT]
October 25, 2015 at 2:43 am #14094Yeah. I got a refund for two orders from them earlier this week, paid via paypal, and quickly refunded although they provided an entirely bogus waybill for my first order that they claimed shipped via DHL…
That said, my money’s back, I re-ordered via banggood and have a tracking waybil # via DHL WHICH they did NOT charge EXTRA for.. apparently c. $350+ and it’s ‘free’ DHL/whatever europe is AFAICT…
October 25, 2015 at 2:38 am #14093They refunded me my total amounts w/o any further action.
The DHL waybill # was utterly bogus.
That said, they may have shipped through some china thing or other as my prior shipments from them via dhl came via dhl at my house.
At the end of the day I ordered from banggood and my items are on the way tracking since shipped via DHL… which was “free” from my order amount, apparently > $~350 USD…
[EDIT]
I’d REALLY LIKE TO HOPE that geekbuying is still good. They refunded me, OTOH they handed me some BS on shipping, and other complaints.
[/EDIT]
[EDIT2]
Well they refunded me in full. I’m still not sure about them though after this experience reading some other items about them but OTOH I can’t help but wonder if it’s because they’ve got noone with decent english skills for when things don’t quite go right. i.e. my first order from them went through with zero problems.
Additionally it seems like questions come up with almost every other chinese seller, although for gaming handhelds and a few other tablets willgoo was good, but last I checked their store their general tablet selection was pretty limited as they specialize in handheld gaming oriented mainly android devices, i.e. smaller form factor(usually) tablets with dedicated gaming buttons, sticks, etc. Also had luck with ordering smaller items from sellers on aliexpress, e.g. gameboy colour(note the added u essentially a gameboy color clone didn’t have much of a choice of seller as few vendors sold them), cases, etc.
[/EDIT2]
October 20, 2015 at 12:22 am #13696OK yeah, I placed another order with banggood but initially trying by their shitty mobile app it claimed OOS for the cube i7 stylus, but by adding them on desktop, *BINGO* in cart, apply 10% discount ship it, or so I fscking hope this time ffs!
[EDIT]
these fscking china dealers need a fscking lesson in how to not fsck yourself IMNHO…
[/EDIT]October 19, 2015 at 11:43 pm #13693Yeah. OK.
They’re claiming to refund the order.
I’ve also sent a query off to DHL since they claim that the delay was down to them not being able to contact me. As to why they wanted to contact me I have no idea however I suspect that it was complete and total BS.
I’ll wait the 48h that as of 2am EDT that I received for them to receive my refund, although I am VERY saddened by this BUT I guess not ALL that surprised.
fsckers!October 18, 2015 at 2:32 am #13489I’m beginning to have 2nd thoughts about geekbuying as they’ve sent me an email requesting that I give them a different name than ordered under because apparently for some mystical reason dhl wanted to contact me, but couldn’t get a hold of me and phailed to leave a message.
Apparently I was incorrect as geekbuying is beginning to postiviely reek.

[/EDIT]
[EDIT2]
WTF is that NEW NAME BS and wtf would dhl want to contact me in the first place?! they NEVER have before!
[/EDIT2][EDIT3]
Upon further reflection this morning, I wonder if possibly, for some reason DHL didn’t try to contact me. Why they suddenly want to this time when they never have before I don’t know. I’ll have to call them today and see if I can get anyone, failing that go to lunch somewhere I can get cell service and see if they really know anything, in which case it MIGHT just be that geekbuying completely suck at english and couldn’t convey the entirety of the problem coupled with utter skepticism that DHL would actually try to contact me suddenly.I’ll update IF I can find anything out from DHL. The only thing that I can say is that in the past I have arranged to be available at home or wherever I had the package shipped to as they do tend to require signatures whereas it’s very rare for other carriers nowadays, typically only USPS and DHL.
It’s just the wording of that email that throws me off. Or what I mean to say is that it’s entirely likely that I’ve been influenced to think the worst given that suddenly so many people posting in forums seem to be skeptical of geekbuying now. I guess that I’ll see. Although up to this point it seemed to be mainly people trying to return something or getting a tablet with a hacked windows install which seems to just be common to almost all of the china sellers that I have read about. I mean I’ve even seen references of tablets from banggood using that kmspro hacktivation… but I guess that the damage has been done.
[/EDIT3]October 17, 2015 at 4:33 pm #13435even the notebookcheck review of the t100ha gets up to 83C and iirc chris says his hit 85C, so it seems to be endemic to cherry trail.
they are rated to 90C.
October 15, 2015 at 2:57 pm #13300i just posted in general, but ami duos
works pretty well on my dell 7140 5y10/4GB/win10
they just changed the pricing so it’s not as cheap as it used to be, $15 for lollipop, $10 for 4.4 iirc.
October 12, 2015 at 4:15 pm #13106so far i’ve only ordered and received a teclast x80h from them. they shipped fairly quickly and it came pretty well packaged with all original materials. they’re a little slow to ship after purchase, but so are many china sellers ime.
they did respond to my questions regarding product pricing specs re cube i7 when they were frst coming out, but it took them a while.
i’ve recently also ordered an x98 pro, want to try out the cherry trails via dhl. we’ll see how it goes.
October 11, 2015 at 4:31 pm #13042my dell venue 11 pro 7140 5y10 will peak at c. 6W on battery and c. 12W on ac under stress. a01 bios atm, latest is a08 which i will update after charging.
a t300 chi that i briefly had original bios would throttle to c. 5W on batt and c. 12W on ac. it had horrible batt runtime too, little over 4h on win8.1, it also had horrible wifi range and was relatively huge so it went back. 5y10c too.
i have an x98 pro on order as i have an x80h which i found surprisingly snappy, but want 4GB ram. 2GB is a joke, and anything better than an atom realistically should start at 8GB ep. considering that they’re soldered. the dell is stuck with 4GB, but i got it for 450 usd
