goo.gl/YJCQq7 2 Amps charging my *ss.
I’ve opened up the device and checked the components.
luckily I have proper understanding of SMD components.
There is a usb 3.0 controller in the usb hub, sadly the chuwi itself is held back with a usb 2.0 controller.
Maybe in the future I’ll try crafting a proper usb hub with an extra cable supplying power to the chuwi (a bit like the old portable hdd cables).September 11, 2016 at 12:58 pm #49450Paid 15 euro for a charging hub, works great except when you plug in a usb, the charging will go to 0.5 amp.
Bought for 30 euros a bluetooth mouse-keyboard combination and get severe lag once a key is pressed. Also this tablet states it supports bluetooth 4.0. It doesn’t work at all if you connect 2 bluetooth devices at the same time
lots of interference and decreased performance. If i’m forced to use a tablet only made for webbrowsing I’ve bought a android tablet instead.
I thought this was the perfect answer for lanning with friends, playing minecraft, LOL, counter-strike, etc.April 15, 2016 at 2:35 pm #33661I got the second batch from banggood (dualboot chuwi) it seems better as the first batch. sadly it shuts off at 15/16%, batterybar tells me the battery has 10% wear (3800Mah available of 4300Mah)
Completely draining and recharging didn’t helped maybe the problem can be solved just by changing some bios setting (a ton of features which are unknown to me)
March 5, 2016 at 3:43 pm #28106I presume the defective units are mainly caused by bad batteries, giving false readings and leading to spikes causing the mainboard to short out. Their also probably using an almost identical bios to the vi8 plus causing problems with the FHD screen.
Maybe the charger and cables should be avoided, can’t imagine that, cause my vi8 charger and cable was fine.
They should add a voltage regulator and better batteries to the hi8pro, that would probably solve most of the issues.February 23, 2016 at 12:47 pm #26786I just received this email from Chuwi
Dear Daan,
Thank you for your e-mail.
I am sorry for delaying replying you due to Chinese New Year.
Our engineers are trying to fix those problems and I am not sure whether these problems can be fixed or not.
I would like to apologize to you again.
Sincerely yours,
AlisaOh boy if they aren’t being able to fix those problems we all got expensive paperweights.
February 2, 2016 at 5:36 pm #24788Good to see the tablet is finally genuinely available to the public.
I’d really like to see it running some commonly used programs.
Could you perhaps show the thermals by using HWinfo?
Hwinfo – http://www.hwinfo.com/download.phpAlso you probably want to use these programs to stress the cpu/gpu to the max (at least 30 minutes).
Valley benchmark – https://unigine.com/products/benchmarks/valley/
3DMark – http://www.futuremark.com/benchmarks/3dmark?_ga=1.106412486.433093590.1451846730
(please post these results, a video would be even better)September 20, 2015 at 1:06 am #11668Good to know it’s smart to wait for a month or two. 😉
I do wish they put hynix emmc storage in the upcoming version they know we’ll pay the extra $10/15 difference!
