This issue has now be resolved. TecLast has removed the faulty driver. but the problem was that WIndows update would automatically download and update with a bad driver which would cause your device to never boot again

I have confirmation from Chuwi and customers with CHuwi tablets that the problem has been resolved for them. You should wait for Teclast customers to confirm before opening he flood gates again.

According to CHuwi this faulty driver has been removed and its safe to use Windows update and driver updates. I have no confirmation of this from actual customers.
Safest thing is to turn on and don’t connect to internet until you have disabled automatic driver updates. Then you can connect and you can update anything except the drivers in the “Firmware” category.

For modern PC, driver updates can update UEFI (modern BIOS replacement). Properly implemented, this should never cause a bricked device because the firmware is supposed to store the previous version and rollback on bad boot. Obviously TecLast and Chuwi share a bad design.

WHo knows? Shamefully, neither TecLast nor Chuwi has even acknowledge that they release a driver which bricked their tablets. SO there will be no news from the companies. Someone will have to try it to see if its safe.

This method will not protect you because it is used after the fact. Once your tablet installs this update which it can automatically , you will be bricked and unable to “uninstall” the driver.
Do wha tI said as preventive action turn off DISABLE automatic driver updates in system settings.

    Warning !
The Chuwi HiBook has the exact same problem, because they share a common driver.
When you get it immediately turn off automatic driver updates.
Offending driver is TecLast firmware 3.04 which is used by both companies.

BangGood will promptly deny your PayPal claim so be prepared to escalate through PayPal.

BangGood’s policy is to stall, treat the customer as a liar and attempt to never refund anything. They actually demanded that I make a video of a dead tablet keyboard on a dead tablet to show the keyboard was dead.
You will have to force them to do anything through PayPal escalation.
THen never buy from BangGood again unless its cheap trinkets that you really don’t care about if they are junk or broken.

Chuwi and TecLast have both issued a faulty driver which write corrupt firmware into the secure boot ROM , thereby bricking their tablets.

The Only way to recover from this is by opening up the device and using an external EPROM programmer .

    See my notes here.

After charging for a few hours, you may have to do this.

Hold the power button down for 30 seconds then release. Now let the tablet set for a 3 minutes and don’t touch any buttons.

    Now attempt normal power up.

    ATTENTION:
Until there is a solution to the x98- Windows update sudden death syndrome., I highly recommend that everyone disable automatic driver updates in Windows 10. It appears that TecLast may have published a faulty firmware update driver that Windows update may automatically install for you and upon reboot your device will be bricked, dead, unable to power up or to charge.  once this happens, there is no way for the user to correct the problem, you cannot boot into BIOS and the device is completely unresponsive.
Read this for the method to do this. Its quite easy.

NOTE: This is not the same as postponing Windows Updates, I don’t recommend stopping all windows updates, just drivers.

Unlikely that any local repair shop can fix this without replacing the motherboard which they will not have.
