Is it possible to obtain root permissions with this rom ?
August 8, 2016 at 7:08 am #46076Yes, from the jide link I posted above, it looks like version 3 is not supported for x98 plus yet.
August 6, 2016 at 6:34 am #45835http://www.jide.com/remixos/devices — shows that RemixOS2 is still the supported os for x98-plus. Last time when I tried RemixOS2, I was facing problems with not being able to use camera for any apps (I tried to use a auto-brightness app which uses camera).
and also device crashed when trying to play music in backgroundIf anyone tries, please check if the above issues are solved.
June 7, 2016 at 3:37 pm #40192Would it be possible to include the newest version of Teclast rom v1.07 in this. Thanks.
June 3, 2016 at 3:32 pm #39719Thanks,
Flashing the boot.img from the teclast stock rom did help with my music/display issues.
I found another issue with RemixOS (both with jide & stock boot.img), the camera is not accessible to other apps. the camera works well with the camera_app, but when I tried to install lux/velis (to adjust auto-brightness based on camera sensor), or snapchat, the app doesn’t have access to the camera. Is anyone else facing this issue. Also is it possible to bring the boot-to-windows app/script which was present in the stock rom to RemixOS.
May 16, 2016 at 12:17 pm #37537I today installed the RemixOS 2.0 rom from the jide website in my A5C8. The method that worked for me was do a fresh install of mirek’s v3.0 rom. select option 2 in mirek’s installation script, it deletes all your existing data. and when mirek’s rom boots to the android setup screen, don’t do any thing, and install the RemixOS using the intel flash tool. After installation, and android icon with rotating cube runs for about 10 mins, and then the RemixOS boot screen for another 5 mins.
Experiences so for, the graphics works better with this rom. I use a painting app, in mirek’s rom there used to be a 1 second lag after I draw and the line to appear in the screen. In this rom, the lag is significantly less, but not as instant as in ios.
There are few other problems also, because of which I am planning to revert back to mirek’s rom. I reported these issues in the xda remixos forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/remix/supported-devices/teclast-x98-plus-play-music-stops-t3380215
Pasting it here.
In my teclast x98 plus dual-boot tablet. I recently installed remix-os 2.0.
When I run play-music, and if I turn off the screen using the power button, the music stops, no automatic os reboot happens. But if I let the screen turn off by itself after sometime, the music stops, and also the remix os reboots.Another wifi related problem, wifi doesn’t connect automatically, when I open the tablet after sleep.
Also sometime after reboot, I am not able to turn on the wifi at all, it is like the wifi driver itself crashed, and the tablet looks like it doesn’t have any wifi hardware.April 7, 2016 at 11:24 am #32430Guys, I am using the latest v2.1 rom. I see that the auto-brightness option is not visible in the settings menu.
I didn’t check if it was available in the stock Teclast rom.
It looks like x98 plus does have a hardware support for auto-brightness function – http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/x98-plus-does-it-not-have-light-sensor/#post-32428 .
Can anyone confirm if this issue is also seen in the stock rom also.
April 7, 2016 at 11:18 am #32428Do you see any noticable battery usage because of this app.
Also reading vicuzoho’s comment in this thread http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/screen-flickering/ , it mentions that x98 plus does have a backlight managing circuit called PWM.
I wonder if the auto-brightness not visible is only an issue in Mirek’s rom.
Can anyone using the stock Teclast rom confirm if they can see auto-brighness option in their settings ?
