I gave up on using the sd card slot. It is just not working. I was using Android, but after some time the sd card won’t be recognized anymore. If I need to access something, I use a pendrive + OTG cable. Works much better.
June 8, 2017 at 8:51 am #67938So. few days ago I put my tablet on my audio system’s subwoofer(30W) and I noticed that my tablet was constantly waking up and having various malfunctions and restarts….
Great! now I need to take care not put any close to a magnetic field….
June 8, 2017 at 8:46 am #67937If you want to try Remix 3.0 on the tablet, you can install it on a Usb stick and boot from it. Then you can check if everything is working as expected
May 15, 2017 at 2:03 pm #67003“The 802.11b standard has a maximum raw data rate of 11 Mbit/s”
– I have no idea how you call this good 😀
Windows driver is better that Linux driver, but you really need to solder another antenna to get a good improvement.
April 13, 2017 at 12:47 pm #65223I am sorry to tell you, but Teclast is not going to offer you any help( many users have different issues and I don’t know a single one that received help).
This is the risk you take when you go for something cheap: No warranty and very high failure rate.
Even if my tablet is still working, I am looking to ditch it and buy something else, with warranty and known manufacturer.
April 10, 2017 at 7:55 am #64996As part of my second experiment, I bought this one from Aliexpress:
I soldered it in parallel with the original antenna and I didn’t see any improvement. I started to read some papers about wifi and signal and a big fat wire has more gain than this “antennas”.
If you guys have a problem, just find the thickest copper or aluminum wire that can fir inside the tablet and solder it to the (+) side, and keep in in the plastic area at the top.
April 10, 2017 at 7:50 am #64995I have no experience with flashing BIOS on this tablet. It seems that you disabled the RAM bank that was defective. I suggest you to stop here, otherwise you risk a total brick and BIOS will not solve hardware problems in RAM.
You should not mention that you messed with BIOS, because there is no way of them telling you that you did that. Sending it to warranty is still possible as far as your tablet does not have any physical damage.
Even if you get a replacement you will still be annoyed with poor WIFI and other problems. If the shop where you bought the tablet allows you to get another device in return, I highly suggest that, even if it will cost you 20-30 euros more.
I asked Chris to remove this device from suggested list, because it is really bad, but I got not reaction(or maybe other devices are even worse).
April 7, 2017 at 12:25 pm #64839The reason why it shows 3000mAh is because inside there are 2 batteries, but only one is connected to the battery monitoring(Don’t ask why they did it, it is already shitty design that could lead to so many problems).
I don’t know if this could fit:
April 7, 2017 at 12:15 pm #64838Hey, sorry, I didn’t read this forum in a while.
I am sorry to tell you, but from what I read you have a hardware problem with your RAM( from memtest). This means that the tablet is not usable and you can not fix it(unless you replace the whole board). I suggest you to get a replacement, if the tablet is new.
Before I was talking about voltage drops under load, which could(and will) lead to freezes and crashes, but so far my tablet was stable(reboots were on android, maybe once every 3-4 days) under normal use.
March 6, 2017 at 8:26 am #63083Did somebody succeed in installing the Phoenix Rom?
February 17, 2017 at 4:21 pm #62358Google play store, you need to have root access
February 17, 2017 at 12:23 pm #62345Actually the fota app was keeping my device awake all the time, so I deleted it with root uninstaller. Tablet works fine without it. OTA update was not working before also.
January 31, 2017 at 7:53 am #61276What impacts the credibility even more is turning a blind eye on what users are saying.
If you go to the recommended page, it says that Teclast X98 Plus II has custom roms. Can you point me to a single custom rom?
It is not about reversing the recommendation, it is about updating the recommendation, because he constantly reviews more stuff and new devices should be better.
And yes, I bought the Teclast from Chris’s recommendation list. If I knew, I would go for Xiaomi.
Also, I did not expect to get Android updates like MM, Nougat etc, but I expected at least the hardware to perform OK.
January 30, 2017 at 11:39 am #61226I would never buy Teclast again. I had to open the tablet and manually solder wi-fi antennas to get some internet, than I had to set the processor limit to 1.44Ghz to get a little bit of stability. I gave up on making sd-card working.
The back camera is useless. I would be much happier with a front-facing one and better quality for skyping.
How do you expect a normal user to deal with this?
Give us a full HD screen and only 3 GB of RAM, but make sure the rest is working.
Next time I am going to Xiaomi. At least they don’t fuck up with hardware. But I really wanted a 10 inch tablet.
Chris G, please remove the Teclast X98 Plus II from the recommended list. This thing is not even close to be recommended
