I abandoned this machine quite a while ago. Even after getting the new batteries sorted it still always ended up being a hassle to use and I got tired of the frustration.  I’m sorry to hear about your batteries, but it may be a sign to finally move on to something better.

    Just FYI for you all…

I’ve ordered batteries from this seller multiple times.  The batteries are Chinese but the seller is very reliable and I haven’t had any of his batteries crap out on me.

It looks like those batteries on AliExpress that used to be marked with Japan cells are now only available with Chinese cells… Should we still trust these? I have just received my Ezbook 3 Pro (I don’t know how to check what version it is) which I had ordered before reading about this problem. It’s not a huge deal for me, as I seldom use the laptop on batteries, but still it bothers me as I am not good with soldering… ?

Dude I don’t solder either and I replaced mine with no problems.

Mine also only shows 48 mWh max even though the new batteries I installed should be more than that.  I’ve also noticed that the green light will come on but after I boot up it says the battery isn’t full.  If I unplug it and plug it back in the light turns red again and it charges the rest of the way.  Strange but I can definitely live with it since I don’t have to be plugged in all the time anymore.  I’m on my second battery cycle now.  After the third I’ll post what I’m getting for average lifespan.

cardoso ignore the white just cover them with tape walter there might be a problem your batteries have charging controllers and you soldered them to the main charging controller. that might not work. if it does not work, you have to bypass either the battery controller or the main controller and connect directly to the red and black cables what go to the jumper.

I was curious about that but was leery of messing with the batteries without them so I did it the way I did.  Like I said, I have no experience with this stuff and I didn’t want to start a fire or something.  lol  It got late last night so I didn’t have a chance to test it out yet, although the charging light did turn green and I unplugged it just before bed.  I have to wait until I get home from work tonight to test it out.  If it doesn’t work I’ll open it back up again and remove the ones from the batteries.

UPDATE: Booted up and is working great.  It’s the first time in months I’ve been able to use it without it being plugged in.  The Windows battery meter in the taskbar is only reading 78% and telling me I only have an hour and 38 minutes left but I don’t think it’s correct.

Ok my batteries finally came and I’m getting ready to replace now.  I’ve never soldered anything before but I bought a small soldering iron and some solder and I’m getting down to business.  I’ll post pictures when I’m finished.  Thank you euplio and Chupa.  Your posts gave me the encouragement I needed to actually do this, having never done anything like this before.

    EDIT:

I followed all of euplio’s directions.  The new batteries fit in the frame so I reused it.  I just plugged it in and the red charging light came on so I think it’s okay for now.  It was a fairly easy fix, although my solder job looks like crap.  Anyway I’ll update later to confirm if it works without the charger being plugged in or not.  These are the batteries I used:  https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3580110-5000MAH-lithium-battery-3-7V-The-tablet-battery-8-inches-N83-N86-A86-A85-Rechargeable/955308174.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.1e674c4dXIQ0Pu

Well, I took mine apart yesterday but then realized I only ordered one battery not two.  I didn’t want to replace only one so I ordered another one and am waiting for it to arrive before I install…

This is my first post here and I signed up to the forum just because of this thread.

Initially I thought it was a Windows 10 update that was making Windows read my battery wrong and shut off without notice.  The battery has since degraded to the point that the Jumper won’t work at all without being plugged in and the battery is swollen pretty badly.  I bought a new battery from AliExpress that just came this week and I plan to go at it tomorrow.  I have no experience whatsoever with this stuff so this thread is a life saver.  I’ll post an update with the battery link after I get it installed and make sure it works correctly.
