I have had the Thinker i35 since June. It is a good device. Obviously the major plus for it is the amazing screen. It is great looking and I have had no structural problems with mine at all (I have seen the videos where the screen pops out the housing, and keyboard problems, but I don’t have these issues). Only negatives I can find –
1) While the alloy build looks fantastic, it is a soft and thin alloy and does scratch quite easily. It is not nearly as solid as the macBook Pro. I often have the Thinker and my MacBook Pro side by side, and sometimes the MacBook has rubbed against the Thinker, leaving scratches…but zero scratches on the MacBook.
2) The touchpad. I like the fingerprint reader, but the touchpad could really use a glass surface like the MacBook Pro. I find it has a very plastic feel to it. Not smooth like my MacBook Pro. The response to two finger scrolling is not that good. Where my MacBook glides when scrolling, the Thinker scrolls like a tractor.
Apart from the two points above, it is an excellent laptop and well worth purchasing – I would purchase it again if I had the decision again.
Oh, the battery life – not that great, I get 4.5 hours. Now, if they were to bring out a MK 2 version of this laptop, I would like to see: 1) Micro SD card slot 2) HDMI slot. 3) Glass surface on the trackpad 4) Better battery life. Then it would pretty much be the best laptop out there.
September 3, 2017 at 1:52 pm #71443I bought this http://www.gearbest.com/chargers-cables/pp_624045.html For some reason the description has been changed to some nonsense. How can it be 45W charger if the output is only 5V and 3.6A? Look at the fourth picture, that is what I got. I guess it is charging at 12V and 3A for thinker. Maximum is 20 V and 2.25A. You can also charge phones with it.
You’re right – I don’t think the Gearbest staff know what they are talking about – no surprises here. That question was repeatedly asked on Gearbest but the staff member said it is only a 5 volt charger. Firstly, it does not make sense – it is a 45 watt charger. If it could only do 5 volt at 3 amps then it would be a 15 watt charger. The fourth picture clearly shows that it can do 12 volts at 3 amps, which is 36 watts. And it will go even higher to 20 volts at 2.25 amps which gives the rated 45 watts. I think I will buy one of these chargers, looks handy to charge any Type-C device…phones, tablets or laptops. The voltage it supplies is controlled by your devices processor.
August 23, 2017 at 1:48 pm #70902Yes, I stumbled on it last night – settings>display>contrast and colour. There is a slider that adjusts from warm to cool tones. I moved my slider right the way over to freezing cold. It has improved, however, it is still not quite as brilliant white as my Xiaomi Note 4. If you looked at my Mi Max 2 on it’s own, with the setting all the way over to cold, it would look quite acceptable and not noticeable. However, if I put a Note 4 right next to it, I can still see a small difference
August 21, 2017 at 8:32 am #70834Who did the shipping for you ? I insist on only using DHL Expedited. It is very expensive, but well worth it for the ease of mind. It takes 2 (two) days from the time DHL pick it up from GB to the time that DHL are waiting at my front gate here in Africa with the goods. VAT and duty payments get done while the parcel is in the air somewhere.
I doubt very much it was GearBest that sent an empty box. It would have happened somewhere after leaving GB. Did you inspect the parcel seals ?
July 18, 2017 at 12:36 pm #69392@Chris G I bought the Cube Thinker i35. Nice laptop, excellent display screen. But I have found that the alloy build they use is quite soft and very easy to scratch and mark. Even with 3 weeks of care when using it, I have picked up some scratches on the alloy. I compare it to my MacBook Pro 15 ” which is 2.5 years old, and has been on 6 overseas trips to the UK, one to the USA and one to New Zealand North and South Island and Australia from here in Africa. It is used daily, and still has no marks on the alloy body. I wonder if Jumper use the same alloy as the Cube Thinker – I think it might do. I am going to have to be ultra careful with my Thinker now, because just touching up against a wall or other hard surface leaves marks on it that can’t polish out. That is my only real negative with this laptop. Other things they could improve on is the touchpad – layer it with glass and have better two finger scrolling, backlighting the keyboard and add a Micro SD card slot…then the Thinker would be perfect.
July 5, 2017 at 8:04 am #68754Yes, the price for the Jumper EZbook 3 Plus is not what we will be paying when it finally hits the streets. GearBest always list the price of tech very high before it is released. Take a look at the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 smart phone – it will be released in November, but GearBest have listed the price at $ 1900.00 !!!! It will be less than half that amount when it’s released..
I estimate that the Jumper EZbook Plus will retail for around $ 395.00. It would be fair value at that price, because the bigger SSD inside would be worth at least $ 150.00
June 22, 2017 at 8:31 am #68395Okay, so according to the GearBest website this morning, there will be a new version of the Jumper EZbook 3 Pro, but it will now be called the Jumper EZbook 3 PLUS – It will come standard with 128 GB (no longer 64 GB), it will have 8 GB RAM (no longer 6GB) upgradeable to 16 GB RAM, and will sport a 14.1″ 1920×1080 FHD display !!!!!! ??????? and then of course it will carry forward the features from version 3….M.2 SSD bay, dual band wifi etc etc. If this is true, this is a MAJOR upgrade.
But, that is the latest from Gearbest, and they are not very reliable with information, so the jury is out. I agree with Wolf – they should label each version #1, #2,#3 or#4, so we know what we are buying. But at least, with this latest iteration, they are changing the name slightly to the Jumper EZbook 3 PLUS.
This new PLUS version is priced at a pre-release of $ 613.79. That price will obviously fall dramatically once it is released.
June 21, 2017 at 9:26 pm #68384Thanks Chris, those Gearbest support staff really are nitwits – I have seen them contradict themselves so many times, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they have stuffed up again.
I don’t know if I can delete this thread, but if you find out that Gearbest gave fake news, perhaps it would be best to delete it, to avoid confusion for other guys reading this.
June 21, 2017 at 7:20 pm #68382Well, maybe it was meant to be. Since being desperate to buy the Jumper EZbook 3 Pro, thanks to one of Chris’ videos, I discovered the Cube Thinker – awesome features and specs. Double the price of the Jumper, but what the heck, so I have just ordered and paid for the Cube Thinker. But I will watch the Jumper to see what they come up with next.
