Now I can add the Cube iWork 10 Ultimate to the list of duds I’ve experienced.
Sadly, I’ve gone back to the mainstream PC area – using emulators to get Android. It was nice dabbling with Chinese tech – maybe I’ll come back in a few months / years when quality assurance improves!
April 25, 2017 at 11:53 am #65990Thanks for the reply – glad to hear I’m not the only one. I’d love to hear that Chinese branded tablets have become more consistent in their quality… but right now, I’m still wary.
October 8, 2016 at 2:24 am #54470One thing I’m trying now is uninstalling Tunnelbear (a VPN program). This thread https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/4o0v01/windows_firewall_keeps_asking_for_permission_to/ seems to point to Tunnelbear as the problem, and when I contacted Tunnelbear’s support, they acknowledged that they are investigating the issue.
Since uninstalling Tunnelbear, I haven’t had any problems – but it’s too early to tell if it was the culprit.
Would you have Tunnelbear installed @Joe?
September 28, 2016 at 9:07 am #51210I’ve got the same problem in Windows on my A5C8. I can resolve it by ‘Troubleshooting problems’, or by disabling and re-enabling the network adapter – but it’s a pain. Sorry, I have no solution.
I think this started happening after the latest Windows 10 upgrade to anniversary edition (1607, build 14393.187). Same for you @Joe?
June 7, 2016 at 11:30 pm #40227@Brian, have you tried reseting the bios to default settings? I think I did that in all my fiddling.
June 7, 2016 at 11:57 am #40144After upgrading to Windows 10 Build 1511, Windows did not recognize my SD card. To fix this, I had to go to device manager, right click on Firmware and update it. When updated, it now showed Teclast Firmware. The updated firmware (bios, I think) made the SD card work for me.
(I have the A5C8 model.)
May 12, 2016 at 4:34 am #36908Work on A5C6/A5C7 (with dualbios) A6C7/A6C9 (cam not working) and A5C8 clic here for the remix os with google installer, official version with Gapps enjoy !
flash with intal flash tools with Update option, and when boot finished do a Remix Os factory reset …. Can you please tell us where you got this ROM from, and how it differs from the one hosted by Jide here, http://www.jide.com/remixos/devices/teclastx98plus ?
May 11, 2016 at 12:30 pm #36821Thanks @Mo for alerting us to the official Remix 2.0 download for the x98 Plus here, http://www.jide.com/remixos/devices/teclastx98plus
Has anyone else tried to install it? How does it differ from that referenced in the OP? (And what is the source of the Remix OS referenced in the OP?)
I’d love to try it – but I don’t have time just now. It took long enough figuring out how to instal the Remix linked in the OP.
May 10, 2016 at 11:37 am #36635@Mattias, I used the Intel Flash Tool, but I didn’t encounter your problem. (The only thing I can think of is: are you sure your ROM download is complete?)
May 10, 2016 at 10:58 am #36631Finally got Remix OS 2.0 installed and rooted on my A5C8, with help from @Yi-Ping Huang (thanks!).
My impressions are that the Rom is zippier than stock or Mirek’s, but I’ve come across two annoyances for me:
- Paragon NTFS can only get read access, not write access, to the Windows partition.
- Swiftkey displays all messed up – seems this is due to some DPI / resolution setting.
If anyone has suggestions to overcome those issues, I’d love to hear them.
(With Paragon NTFS, I can read my NTFS sd card – haven’t tried writing to it yet.)
May 5, 2016 at 6:57 pm #36211OK, it didn’t work. But now I got the point. First adb reboot bootloader. Then when in bootloader, fastboot oem unlock. This will erase userdata. Then the patch V3 will work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/x98-air/help/root-teclast-x98-plus-t3313339
I tried following your steps, but ended up with the Android figure with its torso open (sorry, don’t know the name of that error). Can you help me please?
I installed Remix OS 2.0 successfully.
I turned on USB debugging.
I typed ‘adb reboot bootloader’. Once I was in bootloader, I typed ‘fastboot oem unlock’. As you said, this erased user data. Then I tried two things on two separate occasions, but both resulted in the Android with its torso open: first I tried running ROOT.bat (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/x98-air/help/root-teclast-x98-plus-t3313339) while still in the bootloader; second I tried typing ‘fastboot reboot’. Both times I ended up with the Android with its torso open.
Can anyone help me root this please?
May 4, 2016 at 9:49 pm #36088I consistently get a ‘failed’ error while flashing system.img.
Previously, I used Mirek’s flash tool to repartition the device, and the system partition was 1 GB which I resized to 2 GB using Gparted. I thought 2 GB should be enough for the system.img (which is 1.2 GB) in the Remix ROM.
Any ideas?
May 4, 2016 at 2:50 pm #36035@Mirek, I used your flash tool for this ROM and loved it – but I also want to try Remix OS just to see it. But the flash tool has made my system partition 1GB and the Remix OS system is larger than 1GB – can you tell me how to resize my system partition so that I can try installing Remix OS please?
May 2, 2016 at 12:36 am #35768UI is very nice and the ROM very promising. Will go back to stock, though: -Lost audio after wake up from sleep -Easy Eyes screen filter doesn’t work -Not possible to use widgets
What model of Teclast x98 Plus are you using?
Anyone else experience the same?
March 29, 2016 at 11:11 am #31239Thanks!
