I have the same problem, charge light not coming on after maybe 30 hours use (right side charge port), charger seems to be ok green LED on, charge wire not damaged, but dead laptop, no power, was not damaged or shorted in any obvious way. Have opened a ticket, they offered repair or $20 credit (ha ha)
I can ship it back for repair, but has anyone had a good repair experience? and is it Jumper or gearbest doing the repair? If the motherboard was shorted as was suggested to me, will they be able to fix it? Or should I bring it into a shop to diagnose? (gearbest says warranty voided if opened)
I can ship surface insured for about 45 bucks, so definitely better than scrapping 250$ unit. Air is $100, too expensive
November 25, 2017 at 4:07 pm #75347Thanks Juan,
“No way to fix.” explanation? why?
And would a bios fix be able to solve it?
November 25, 2017 at 3:43 pm #75344HELP – Anybody who has technical skills, is there any way to enable these combo keys or are those keystrokes simple not possible on arrow keys dues to physical keyboard issue or BIOS
has anyone found a way of getting combo keys to work, like ctrl + shft + right or left arrow etc. to select words at a time, up \down etc. There was a workaround with keyboard manager software but still cannot make use of the arrrow keys in 3 key combos and you have to buy the software. Also missing page up\down home\end. As a writer this is a complete deal breaker, would have not bought this laptop had I known.
September 21, 2017 at 5:07 pm #72446I haven’t tested this but doing the re-install of windows 10 I feel like it increased the jumpers battery life by about 1 hour- 1:30
Please note re-installing windows 10 is completely optional, I have done this 1000 times so do this step with caution if you know what you are doing.- James, this is a very interesting observation. I wasn’t really interested in doing a clean install until now but do you have any measurements that led you to the idea there was a 1.5 hour battery improvement?
September 21, 2017 at 5:03 pm #72445Thanks for all the suggestions. Given the influence of pc channels like this one on non-asian buyers for chinese pc makers, is there any direct line of support to jumper support engineers to have them fix these half-baked touchpad and keyboard issues? Chris, what are the available channels if any besides GB? I sent an email to an address from jumper’s alleged support page googled into English, and it just bounced.
maybe jumper doesn’t care, i don’t know, or they’re “not there yet”, but i’ve seen the pictures of its ceo walking around with Nadella at events. I’m assuming they’re into the 7 figure unit volume for this laptop series, so even if non asia sales are minimal, if you mess up the mission-critical input capabilities of the PC in an otherwise pretty good hardware package, it becomes a real usability issue that does not have to exist.
As far as the touchpad, (my V3 with june 22 bios, no windows reinstall), i think it actually moves around ok with the basic settings, but the instability\imprecision to select anything is a problem. I’ve solved the problem for now by using one of my kensington orbit trackballs (i never use a mouse), which i also use at my desk. Its an extra piece, but its very precise and you don’t need much space for it since it doesnt need to move and have a readable surface. If sitting on a chair or couch i can still put it next to my thigh.Having said that, my last 2 laptops, a core i5 lenovo 2-in-1 from 2015 and a 2016 asus transformer flip (beautiful build but grossly underpowered atom) both had trackpad issues, although not selection related.
So my main problem is the keyboard, and the unexpected lack of end/home, pg up/down, combo keys crtl + shift + arrow that are absolutely mission critical to editing documents (i never thought to check before buying) . I tried freeware Key manager software (highly recommended), and was able to remap those functions to other keys, but it looks like the arrow keys for example, are incapable of supporting more than 2 key combos, so i remapped the 3 key combos bracket keys and others, but this is a mediocre workaround (going back and forth between these new key sequences and arrow keys) to a problem that should never have come about. The lower row of keys is either reserved and/or not usable with 3 key combos, and i don’t know enough about keyboard design to understand if this can be fixed with a bios update or not.
Some of you have created scripts, i have asked if possible to script the 3 part combo with the arrow keys, waiting for a response. I’m anticipating i may not be possible if that sequence cannot be registered in hardware.
September 16, 2017 at 4:37 pm #72204“I discovered that using custom equlizer settings can boost speakers output by 30-40% with not much noticable distortion. To do this right click on speaker icon in taskbar ->playback devices-> speakers->properties->equlizer->click 3 dots and put all 10 frequency band to max and save.”
Hi i have ezbook 3 pro, don’t seem to have the 3 … to show the equalizer. What am I missing? thx
September 16, 2017 at 4:32 pm #72203Thanks for the script, need your help and a couple of questions for NON DIYers-
- the other 2 critical ones are the ctrl + shift (left shift button) + left or right arrow – Is it possible to add those to the script and post it here? I’m not really a DIY to that extent. I’m wondering why jumper did not include those basic keystrokes or how they could even manage to not include them in the english keyboard setup when any sub $200 laptop has them included on english keyboards, but I digress. Maybe its easy to overlook the basic but critical details such as keystrokes and mouse input when you’Re more focused on hardware specs and design?
- Is there any lag when using those scripts when typing? i assume they are not integrated in the OS
- On the subject of input, has any better trackpad driver been found? cannot really select anything without frustration, using a big trackball right now but not always practical.
- Is there any chance they will put out a bios update to fix these issues? and is there any way to reach jumper support or is it only in chinese? I looked on the aliexpress page but the contact support link or email dont do anything.
Thanks much
