The eMMC/SSD are not the reason your laptop is so slow.

Windows update should have you covered. Otherwise you can just look up the model through the device manager and download it from the manufacturers website.

Well, it was actually 10 USD for me. 😉

There is a registry change you can make to make it less frustrating; it’s on the forums here somewhere.

fn+F12 switches the touchpad on and off.

I’m not sure what you were expecting. Fast eMMC and below average SSD’s don’t have a world of difference between them in terms of perceived speed. Booting is also not solely based on disk performance, but also heavily dependent on the CPU – which is of course relatively slow. You will probably only see a small boost in performance on really disk-heavy tasks.

On the other hand it’s quite possible that the keyboard issue also has an impact on the performance, because my V3 has much slower eMMC but faster boot times.

There are indeed no gestures, besides the basic ones like scrolling. However, the accuracy is much improved for me and cursor acceleration got enabled (which is the biggest bonus, imo).

What drivers are you using on your V3 machine?

None; just the default Windows stuff.

And in regards to the keyboard: it’s not a fix, but a shaky workaround. The brightness control of the screen is incredibly laggy, even with the registry changes.

You can quite simply improve the touchpad of the V3 with a few registry keys. The way I discovered this is through the V4: after configuring Windows on the V4, some settings were synchronised to my V3 which vastly improved the touchpad.

These are the keys I was able to find in the registry of the V3. I’m not 100% sure whether it works, but it’s worth a try (save the attachments as .reg files and apply them, or otherwise add them manually).

I wonder if it even is an issue with the keyboard itself; I suspect it’s the firmware/BIOS rather than the keyboard hardware. It would be near impossible to find out though without replacement parts or official support from Jumper (which doesn’t exist, it seems).

It indisputably is a hardware issue in this batch of the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro; it even happens in the BIOS.

So I contacted Gearbest support November 1st about the defective keyboard, they told me this:

We need to confirm this issue with our technical team and will get back to you with an update as soon as possible. We will then resolve this issue to your satisfaction.

They didn’t get back to me, so November 14th I contacted support again. They gave me the same copy/pasted reply and, again, I didn’t receive any follow-up. The 28th I asked for an another update, now they give me this gem:

Please restart it to try again.

Thanks for your understanding and assistance.

After insisting it is an actual hardware issue, they have now offered me a ‘partial’ refund of 10 USD (!!). Pathetic.

Have any of you had better luck with Gearbest support regarding this keyboard issue?

You should download AS SSD and benchmark it with that.

What often happens when cloning a drive, is that the 4K alignment of the partitions is wrong. This has an incredible impact on the performance of the drive. AS SSD tells you when this is misaligned with red/green text on the left hand side.

Please post a screenshot of the AS SSD benchmark; it’ll help us diagnose the problem.

Do any of you two have problems with the keyboard (like has been described on this forum)? This new BIOS may have been put in place to fix that.

The panels Jumper (and pretty much all cheap Chinese tech products) use are rejects from the bigger brands. This means you’ll always have backlight bleed and/or some dead pixels, though in your case it seems a bit extreme.

There isn’t much you can do about it, other than to just lower the screen brightness.

I can get a 128gb Toshiba THNSNK128GVN8 for $40 & a Toshiba XG3 128GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD – THNSN5128GPU7 for $85. I think they would both work & I know te XG3 is faster but is it really worth more than double the price?

The Jumper’s M.2 slot is SATA600, not PCIe. So go for the first, cheaper one.
