No. This is wrong. Of course the CPU is not at max power when not in use. It’s easy to see in the task manager threads graph. So the temperature is caused by something else. The memory or graphics processor perhaps?
Ok, the Graphic Processor could be, but the problem is the same: There are still not the right Linux drivers for our hardware
May 17, 2017 at 2:32 pm #67085I have the creators update and the original keyboard and I am not having any problem with the trackpad. Everything works like before the update, but I am having actually an issue. Sometimes the keyboard is automatically “disconnected” (I hear the windows sound like when you disconnect some peripheric). I have to detach and retach the keyboard and then it works again.
I have Windows 10 Pro doing a clean install of it
May 17, 2017 at 2:25 pm #67083The Keyboard is not that heavy IMO, but the tablet is… Thus the Keyboard has to be solid to give a stable stand, which it does very well in spite of the heavy tablet unit.
So if you want to spare weight, i think you`d have to start with another – then most likely much more expensive) tablet.
Exactly. If the keyboard is not “heavy” as it is, it could not stand the tablet. I am really happy with the keyboard. But yes, it would be perfect if it would have an extra battery inside…
May 17, 2017 at 2:19 pm #67082You can try to reinstall windows (there is a post with all the steps you should follow for that). But it seems that there is something wrong with the hardware…
Normally GearBest recommend to go to a computer repair service and let them see what is the problem and the possible solution. Then, before they try to repair the tablet, you should contact GearBest again with the information about the detected problem, the solution and the costs of the repairs and them they decide if they pay you the repair or if you should send the tablet to GearBeast. In the case you have to send it back, if you have payed using PayPal, you can retrieve the costs of the send.May 17, 2017 at 2:08 pm #67081It seem as your memory is fault but I doesn’t explain why your temp always 80C in Linux?
That is because Linux has not the proper drivers to handle our processor and it os probably using always the processor at maximum power, even if you are not executing nothing
May 17, 2017 at 2:05 pm #67079Do you mean that the iclever takes 44 minutes to charge the remaining 33%? My original charger takes about 2 hours (full charge), and the same with the innergie 45W charger. I measured the 45W charger using a usb-c pd analyser and it’s running at 20V (at less than 1A with the tablet powered off).
Yea it said 44 min to charge the rest of the remaining 33%. But I timed it and it actually fully charged in about 25 min. I have no tool to really measure the actual voltage output, but based off the 25 min to charge 33% then I can assume it would only take no more than 1 hour and 30 min to charge from 0%. I’ll test it again to be sure.
It’s back down to 64% battery left so I will recharge and set a 30 min reminder so I can check how much it goes up in 30 min. The cube is set to sleep in 45 min so during this test it will be on but the screen will be off.
UPDATE: Looks like it only went up to 90% in 30 min. So that’s 26% in 30 min. I’m going to test the OEM charger next. So with the OEM charger, I only went up 15% in 30 min. From 67% to 81%. I’m off work now and will run the same tests again tomorrow but so far it looks like I made a good investment in the iclever.
You should measure the charge time from 0% to 100% because the time to charge the first 20% (starting at 0%) of the battery is probably not the same as to charge the last 20% (starting at 80%) of the battery.
May 11, 2017 at 9:14 am #667751. Well, you know mine – 97 degrees C max as per my review. 2. In balanced mode it will stay cooler, but if you game or encode a video (something taxing) it will still get into the 90’s 3. Yes it can to some degree using Intel XTU, it will lower temps a few degrees. 4. The easiest mod would be to just add a large thermal pad.
I’ve ordered a cube i7 book. I’m concerned about the heat issues I’ve read about here. I’m not going to use this little tablet for gaming but I will definitely watch HD video on it. I think that option 4 might be OK for me? Has anyone tried this option and if so, what results are you getting? Does it make much difference to temperatures? Thanks
Don’t worry. I use mine just for videos with no mod and the heat does not bother me. My cooling pad arrived but I’m too lazy to do the mod… you can do the easy one if you are concerned.
Exactly the same as me. When I ordered the Mix Plus, after reading all post about the thermal problem, I also bougth cooling pad, copper shame, etc… They are still in their respective boxes because I do not feel the need to do the thermal mod. Even if I play some “small” games, the tablet is not warm enough to think in open the tablet with the risk it means. I have to say that I used to use the tablet with the original keyboard and I dont need to have it in my hands the whole time
May 3, 2017 at 7:09 am #66398I couldn’t perform a good calibration of the Wacom stylus. Did you do something special?
May 3, 2017 at 6:53 am #66397so i just reopened the new tablet, replaced the 0,5 mm plate between the cpu and the original heatsink with a 0,8mm one and the 0,5mm one between the heatsink and the big copper plate to 0,7mm, the cooling is slightly better, but still not as good as the first mod i did on the first tablet, still occt can only run good 4 minutes before it reaches 87 degrees, while the old one still can do almost 6 minutes. im not sure where this comes from, as now the new one has almost 2 times the copper in it as the old one (still without the screen getting bent).
The microprocessors are not 100% identical. Each microprocessor could be overcklocked with different results, even if they are te same. One of them has better thermal characteristics, thats all.
It is also possible that the first copper plate do a better contact with the microprocessor or even you have applied the thermal paste you are using in a better manner. There are a lot of small things which all together could perform a really different behaviour.
April 28, 2017 at 6:54 am #66205I just unboxed it today.
i did a parallel importation alongside the cdk09 keyboard for cube i7.
well the keyboard is a bit disappointing since the mouse has a funny behavior.
anyone using the keyboard can share the experience
The trackpad of that keyboard is not the best… but the “funny behavior” can be “fixed”. The problem is that there are some windows gestures which are to easy to perform with that trackpad by mistake or without the intention to do that. But fortunately there are some solutions to avoid that behavior. You can find some of that solutions on that forum. I am using a script which disables the windows gestures at startup.
Actually I am very happy with the keyboard, even if the trackpad is not the best. Probably it should be even better for the price it has, but IMHO it was a good choice.
April 24, 2017 at 7:24 am #65928Have you paid it with Paypal? In my country if you pay something with paypal, they pay the retourning costs. Im not sure if that rule is valid worldwide or not. In any case, try to contact Paypal in case you have payed with it.
April 24, 2017 at 7:21 am #65927@virgo: Yes, the original screen cracked. I replaced it with a new screen, but it’s the new screen that is giving me the error 10.
I tried a BIOS reset, but no luck. The screen will work for a short while, but will die after a long sleep or restart.
For me it is clearly a Hardware problem. Try to talk with the vendor in order to get a new one.
April 20, 2017 at 11:28 am #65736Hi xioh,
I’m considering getting a chuwi /teclast/Cube tablet and your review has been really helpful so far. Thanks for the awesome review and the time you spent.
One of my main concerns is charging via external power bank as I travel extensively and need the portability. Been looking through many forums and reviews but havn’t seen anything specifically addressing this. I’m sure that many others would have the same question.
You mentioned that you got it working with your Google nexus 5x charger, that’s 5v/3a right?
On another thread, Chris also said that the hi13 would only charge with 12v/2a or greater than 2a.
Right now, is there any powerbank that you’ve been or would be able to test with the tablet that would work and what outputs does it support?
Specifically, I’m looking to be using a Xiaomi 1st gen 20000mah powerbank. With output 5v/2.1a. Which doesn’t seem to fit the specs.
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-High-Capacity-Portable/dp/B014ZO46LK
Would this with a 5v/3a output work?
I’m afraid this question mainly stems from my lack of understanding of the usb PD standard.
I’m sorry if this question seems a little ridiculous but I’d really appreciate your input.
And maybe Chris though if you happen to come across this =)
I am owner of a Cube Mix Plus (as you can read in the message before this) and I also own a powerbank which works really well with the tablet. Read the following thread and there I explain which one I own and the most important things about it. I hope it helps:
Accessories for cube i7 book (powerbanks, chargers, hdmi etc)
April 20, 2017 at 11:24 am #65732Main reason to buy this tablet is the Wacom stylus. So with this price, it is the only choice and it is usable
Backlight bleed is the common issue.
Shutdown is unreliable, battery drain overnight from 100% to 20% while the tablet is warming until the morning
I think you shouldn’t call it “common issue”. I have not any of the issues you mentioned. The blacklight bleed is a common issue in almost every device with the same type of screen in specific situations (in the darkness, with a lot of brightness you can see the backlight bleed). As I have read in other post, it seems to be a real issue “only” in your device, because nobody else has wrote to tell that he has also that issue.
I have read about the shutdown battery drain issue, but I have never experienced it. When I shutdown my Cube Mix Plus, it has the same battery level the day after.
In my opinion the Cube Mix Plus is more than only a Wacom tablet. Indeed I have no Stylus at all and I am very very happy with the tablet. I can do everything what I do with my laptop. For me the most important thing is that I can play my Steam-games when I am in the train to go to my work and to comeback home.

Hi all again.
As I said, I received the powerbank and it is amazing. It charges the Cube Mix Plus without any problem. It also charges the tablet while I am playing some games (I didnt try with a really demanded game, but I dont need it anyway). The charger that comes with the powerbank is also suitable to charge the tablet directly.
It is also possible to charge the powerbank while connected to the tablet, but I didnt test if it really charges the powerbank or if it only decrease the time to discharge the powerbank.Edit: It is not possible to charge the tablet while charging the powerbank. I have tried only with the normal usb (to charge the smartphone) and it works. I just tried to charge the tablet (via usb c) while charging the powerbank (via micro usb input) and it doesnt seems to work. But in any case, if you are able to charge the powerbank, you are also able to charge the tablet directly (you could also charge the tablet with the charger that comes with the powerbank and simultaneously charge the powerbank using a normal smartphone charger (of course slowly) while charging the smartphone, so I dont see hier a problematic point. In any case, IMO this is actually the best powerbank for our tablets. It is a little bit pricely, but it worth due to the 26.800mAh and the charger which comes with the powerbank. And the most important thing, it works!
I also ordered the following usb type c cable: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01EMIIFCU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I hope it helps
