Uh … mine is now apparently dead-dead. Waiting a day (three, actually) didn’t help at all this time. Enough with this! Just got myself a Samsung S2.

Pity – I really liked the X98 Pro for the past few months. At least I don’t have to wait vor Mirek’s new rom anylonger.

PS: Is there somebody in the EU who is able to repair Teclast tablets?

I had the same a few weeks ago – tablet had turned itself off (about 35 % charge, I believe) and wouldn’t turn on at all. It didn’t react (at first glance) to charging nor to it being connected to a PC.

There’s a few posts here describing the phenomenon, so I read about things like various button combos etc. but it made no difference. What worked for me, though, was to give it (a little less) ~24 hrs rest after charging it fully. I noticed that it drew power when connected to the charger (it got warm) and stopped doing that after a few hours, so I knew that some of the circuits were still functioning properly.

The next day, just when I was ready to buy a new tablet – I just held down the power button once more and – boom! – it started booting again without any problem. Happened to me only once within 9 months or so.

Keep the faith! (And have patience?!) – Good luck to you all.

… have just done a dirty upgrade from v5 to v6 – works like a charm so far. Thanks a lot again, Mirek. You are the man!

Thank you for another great update, Mirek! Battery and RAM improvements are massive – unfortunately I already had my first black screen crash, though overall stability also seems to be significantly improved.

Could VIPER be the culprit? Have you had any experience with it on the X98 Pro by any chance?

If anyone wants to remove the Camera/Volume from the navbar, I have just released the first of my rom patches for this device here

Thank you, Karl – I would love to geht rid of the ‘camera’ only and have everything else centered. Is that doable as well? Cheers, F

Yeah I can do that, I will update my patcher to have that option.

    Awesome!

Thank you so much once again, Mirek. I wrote it before but your work alone has turned a costly but unusable piece of silicon into a great Android tablet. ‘Haven’t really been able to test-drive v3 much but the upgrade (“dirty” again from v2.01 to v3 – based on a clean v1 install) was hassle-free as expected and the table definitely feels “snappier” yet again.

My AntuTuTu score remains somewhere between 71K and 72K – I’ve never been able to get close to the ~80K as reported elsewhere but I am still having the “Turbo” turned off in BIOS; not sure that is still recommended?

In any case: I think another round of donations to Mirek is due! 🙂

Thanks for v2. Will I get the full benefits etc by doing the dirty update to v2, I did v1 as a clean install.

I had no problems with my dirty upgrade from V1, Richard – works PERFECTLY. Mirek deserves loads of donations!

I had initially the same issue but could download both Antutu as well as Rayman Adventures yesterday. I ‘only’ geht about 75,000 points, though.

What I struggled with is how to press both “Volume up and down” at the same time but one can actually just press the rocker right in the middle. And I also didn’t understand why the mode was either referred to DvN or DnX. It showed “DnX” on mine. What additionally puzzled me was whether I had to do anything else after connecting the X98 Pro to the PC and running Mirek’s tool. The answer is: Just wait. And don’t panic – I’ve also had error messages. And longer phases of “nothing happening”. But all went fine. Oh, and you can select the re-boot options with the volume rocker and the power button once you’re done.

    It’s all worth it! 🙂

    Hi Mirek –

First of all thank you [and Chris] very, very much for turning the X98 Pro from being almost completely useless (in Android) to a very smooth high end machine. I’ve been travelling for a week and just returned from abroad – couldn’t wait to update my tablet. The process went really smooth – so far, so great! Haven’t really been able to do much with it yet. 🙂

Do you accept donations? Do you have a PP address you want to share?

I do have a question or two: Is there any chance you could add the Widevine DRM library to the ROM? Among other things it’s used by Google Movies. And is it possible to edit the build-prop to be able to download the latest Rayman game, Antutu version etc?

    Cheers!

Windows runs much better on my X98 Pro – I am also an Android fan but it cannot hold a candle to Win10 at the moment.

Thank you, Juan! Maybe disabling the IGD Turbo mode is actually teh solution to my stability problems … I sure hope so. So far the X98 Pro is completely useless for me, I’m afraid …

Same here – I was expecting to see the version numbers dicussed elsewehere but also found the v1.62 … funny enough, after exiting the BIOS and rebooting Android – and then downloading updates from Google Play, it completely crashed and ended hung up on the Intel logo. I had to force rest it and was expecting it to not boot into Android anymore but it actually DID restart w/o any problem (a few hours later, though) – and then went through the “apps optimization procedure” that one usually only experiences after updating the OS.

It somehow feels sightly more stable now … ? Not sure if I triggered something when I entered/exited the BIOS set-up or whether it was total coincidence.

Still the worst China tablet in a long time. Oh, and the most expensive as well. (At least for me.)
