That’s a good hint. I also found this for the Chuwi vi10 Ultimate with has the same x5-z8300 processor so I imagine the results will be the same.

It’s not very encouraging. I might be better off with the Hibook Pro or Cube iwork 10 that use the Realtek RTL8723BS WiFi. At least there seems to be more development work going on there.
July 10, 2016 at 9:39 am #43064Thanks. I’m not having much luck finding support for the chip under Linux unless you are installing on a rasberry pi which is ARM based.
June 18, 2016 at 6:31 pm #41418I plugged the keyboard in again today and it started working intermittently, but the keys repeat sometimes and the touch pad goes in and out. Do it’s flaky now, not completely dead in both android and Windows. My problem is banggood wants me to take it locally to get repaired and I have no idea who in LA would be able to fix this.
June 18, 2016 at 12:53 am #41356I did try reinstalling the Windows keyboard driver, but that didn’t help. The keyboard doesn’t respond during the BIOS post either nor does it work in Android. So far I’ve requested a replacement with bandggood.com twice and I haven’t received a single response from them. I’m not very encouraged.
June 17, 2016 at 3:04 am #41270Dead as a door nail. Even the two USB ports stopped responding. The magnets still work ☺. When the pogo pins make contact windows detects a USB device, but it says it malfunctioned.
March 17, 2016 at 3:42 pm #29797I would definitely recommend insurance. My tablet arrived with a smashed display. When I ordered it, I was looking for an option to include insurance and expedited shipping, but for some reason the website wasn’t letting me choose those options.
March 17, 2016 at 3:39 pm #29796I would be very careful about opening a dispute. PayPal only allows one dispute per trasaction. I did exactly what you are asking, then once gearbest shipped my tablet I closed the dispute. When the tablet arrived about 30 days later the display was smashed and I couldn’t reopen the dispute. Fortunately, my PayPal account was backed by a credit card and I was able to dispute the charge through VISA. I did eventually get my money back.
January 7, 2016 at 3:47 pm #21481I tried the sgs screen booster and set it to super optimized but I’m still getting touch misses and often have to tap two or three times. Just typing this message was hard because I had to retype letters about 6 times.
I think I’ll sell this one on eBay and get a Xiaomi Mi Pad 2.
January 3, 2016 at 10:51 pm #21145By the way, here is a video I made showing the poor touch responsiveness.

January 3, 2016 at 10:47 pm #21144I guess it’s nice to see I’m not the only one having these issues. I’ve run into the majority of issues others have experienced. My biggest issue, and why I’m going to try and return or sell mine is the touch screen responsiveness. I’ve found that the touch screen doesn’t respond consistently especially when tapping more quickly. It’s more pronouced in Android, but also happens in Windows. I think plugging in the power adapter helps reduce ths prolem, but it’s still there and anyway who wants to have the tablet plugged in all the time. There’s nothing worse with a tablet than having to tap 2, 3 or 4 times to get a response.
I also have the annoying issue of the power cable not staying plugged in. A very poor design over all and I wish I had known ahead of time.
Regarding the rear camera focus. I had that problem as well, but some how by zooming in or taking a picture, the focus fixed itself.
Don’t get me started on gearbest.com. They really live up to their name gearWORST. I bought one of these tablets from them, it took over a month to arrive and then the screen was cracked. I’m still waiting for them to respond to my request for a refund. They seem to be ignoring me. I ended up buying a the X16 Pro from someone local who had and extra, but now I’m sorry I did. This is the last time I’ll buy a cheap Chinese tablet. I guess there is a reason they are so cheap. I got the impression from Chris that these tablets were more usable, but they aren’t good enough for me. The only reason I bought a Chinese tablet was so I could dual boot with Android. I wouln’t mind paying more for a Japanese or Korean tablet if it would dual boot.
December 31, 2015 at 2:06 am #20649I wish I had a more positive review. Here is my experience.
I ordered a Teclast X16 Power on 11/26.
11/29 – confirmation of payment
12/5 – email, product out of stock
12/10 – email, product ready to ship
12/16 – shipping notice received..tracking link was useless.
12/21 – finally got tracking information from gearbest..product shipped, received at airport in US somewhere, but tracking link still not working.
12/26 – got a working tracking link from gearbest, prodct last updated as shipped in US somewhere
12/30 – tracking info finally updated, product finally shows up.
Tablet was shipped in a thin layer of bubble wrap around the original packaging. I opened the box and the screen was completely smashed and cracked.
I’m now awaiting a response to my request for a refund. I will not be doing business with gearbest.com again.
