    This works great!!

I bought one with a non booting Windows 10.  I wanted to fix it with dual boot but decided Android is superior for a 8″ tablet.

I had another Teclast before that required a new board after I follow their Windows 10 upgrade.  Android was fine, but it won’t detect Windows.  I reflash etc.  Yours might be that problem.

Depends if you are using the factory image.  If so, follow the link above.

If not, the Google “Rufus Windows 10” and there’s instructions to create one.  You get into the bios and then boot from USB Override.

I just installed X98 PRO (K9C3)-Windows10 Part1-4 from Here and it still won’t activate. I just tried to insert the key using slmgr.vbs and it said I am using a non-core Windows. Perhaps I need a Single Language iso, I will try that.

Clean install on an English Single Language Windows 10 doesn’t work too. I also tried to SLMGR my bios OEM key and it said it’s a non-core edition. My next step is to get the original image from Teclast.

Alright, so my X98 Pro is a Win 10 Home Single Language, Simplified Chinese only. That image works. It’s now activated but I am looking for ways to change it to English.

Could you take a screenshot of your system’s properties ? I want to know of Windows versión appears as SL (single languaje) or not. Mine only says “Windows 10 home” Or in command line (cmd) type “systeminfo” and enter. May be some of us have normal versión and others SL versions Hope your answer

I am not using that copy anymore. I remember it said “Windows 10 Home Chinese Version” written in Chinese.

I did similar mod but with a tiny MicroSD reader. It works until it goes to sleep. After I wake it, it won’t show the SD card.

    • Card reader still in Device Manager
    • Card reader still in Disk Management but shows “no media”

Restarting the computer will show the MicroSD Card again. Do you run into this problem with your full port mod?

I solved it, it was the card reader that was the problem.  I used another model and it wakes up fine.

Here’s what I did.  The X98 PRO (K9C3)-Windows10 Part1-4 is the multi language install.  The same as X98 PRO (K9C3)-Windows10 (多语言版)-安装文件 (含WINPE和images).part1-4 from Teclast Baidu

    1. Windows: Format FAT32 and name it WINPE (not WINRE as above)
    2. Copy the extract files over
    3. USB Hub with keyboard and USB Drive from above
    4. Boot to BIOS (I did it from Windows Recovery -> UEFI Firmware
    5. Select override boot to USB Drive
    6. let it run and after 1st boot, it should pop up a OOBE, just press okay and it will install and reboot again.

I’ve attached the Official guide from Teclast in Chinese, but you can just follow the photos and get a good idea of what you need to do.

Here’s Teclast official link for the Win 10 image.  If your come with Single Language, then you need to flash that or else it won’t activate.

Have you installed Windows 10 HOME? I have erased my X98 Pro completly and installed Windows 10 10586 and it activated with no problem. Try to activate using the automatic phone system, it has worked for me on other cases where it said that the Windows key could not be used to activate Windows (because it was a OEM key).

Yep, Win 10 Home ISO from MS.com  I tried the phone system twice and doesn’t work.
If the system image WinPE doesn’t work, I am gonna use a loader.

The quality of USB cables and length has played a big part in charging speed for mobile phones, it’s no surprise it applies to tablets.

I have access to a 0.8mm copper, should I use that instead of 1mm?

Pretty cool, it reminds me when the EEE701 came out and people were modding bluetooth and USB drives in there.

Maybe I will mod a Microsd reader and make Windows see it as permanent storage. http://www.etcwiki.org/wiki/Cfadisk_usb_driver
