I also have a kb malfunction due to a tiny drop of coffee getting dropped on it. As a result one row of keys have stopped working. I have also taken it partly apart but have stopped when I saw all the little welded spots. I would love to buy a new kb but can’t  find one anywhere. If anyone knows of one for sale please post here ?.

I just could not live without the form factor in my life so have been forced to go out and get a Surface Pro. I have to say that whilst I really liked the Cube, the genuine Microsoft original is just fantastic ?

Hi Mike, sorry I should have made it clear – I was using a Lavalier mic which is optionally powered (which most cameras that have an external mic option require).  It was this that was on when I plugged the mic in. It is only 1.5 volts so I hope I have not damaged anything !

As regards any software settings I have not been able to find anything much in sound manager.

I can confirm that AUKEY USB C HUB Ethernet 3 Port USB 3.0 + USB C Port with PD Product ref: CB-C25 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01G1LNVZM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

works although I have not been able to try the PD (power delivery).

As a matter of interest I have been having a few errors with both this hub and the supplied USB adapter cable when plugging in a micro SD card (obviously using an adapter). These errors range from not being able to see the card to not being able to read the format and in two cases writing to the card without first asking me and corrupting the card. Last week this cost me two days of action cam video footage of our holiday – grrr. Am not sure if this is a Windows error or the Cube. Have lost a bit of confidence in the Cube as a result and waited until I got home to download all my DSLR exposures to my main pc.

Did you pay by Debit card or Credit card ? If credit card you might have insurance – check your card details.

I think only the Type-c port will provide the full range of 12V 1.5A/9V 2A/5V 2A. The Type A port should only provide 5V 2A. Therefore you should get a Type-C to Type-C cable instead

It would be useful to post any c0nfirmed Type-C to Type-C cables as the cable market is a minefield with some cables claiming to be ‘high speed’ and which are not.

Really useful thread by Sing Along 🙂 I will contribute later.

And Win10 was reinstalled ? Without asking for the key/licence?

Yes – you are given two choices, reinstall and keep your programs or full install and lose everything bar files. As I said there must be an option to roll back as there is a Windows.old created when you have done it. I must admit I was a bit nervous because of the driver issue which I had not got before I did it but everything went smoothly. I took various system images and created a startup disk using an old USB cd drive but did not need any in the end.

However I made a mistake in my previous post. The option to reinstall is not in the old W7 backup but in the new W10 Settings/Update & Security/Recovery and then Reset this PC. It does not ask for a key. Sorry for the mistake 🙂

Sorry to keeping banging on about this case but I have just noticed another nice feature. When I started to use the case I was never sure which was the top and bottom when I came to open it. I got round this by marking the velcro on the inside of one of the handles. However just now I noticed that the top cover is different to the bottom one as it has a semi-circle of extra thickness whereas the bottom just has the two horizontal bars. You can see this reinforcement on the two product photos on the Gearbest site (there is no photo of the bottom !). On the Everbuying site there are two photos of the bottom (and none of the top !). Anyway, the extra padding is obviously there to give extra protection to the screen.  A nice touch on a cheap £7.50 case 🙂

I will shut up now !

When I got my book from Gearbest it had obviously been turned on after leaving the factory as the start up procedure that is detailed in the paperwork supplied was different and also it asked me on several occasions if I wanted to install some dodgy task bar (cannot remember name but a Google search showed it to be something nasty). I assumed this was Gearbest trying to be helpful by having it configured in English but nevertheless I didn’t like it. So I went into the old style Control Panel and then Windows 7 Backup/Restore and did a factory reset there. It reinstalled a completely fresh Windows and left a Windows.old. Did not need to reinstall drivers or anything else.

Think I read somewhere that on some of the 10 builds there is a folder you can copy which will  contain the drivers for that install. Seems a very sensible idea but have no idea what it is !

The case fits the Book (when docked with it’s keyboard) like a glove. This is what make the case so good, you are getting the protection without significantly increasing the size. There is room in the mesh compartment (you can see in the pictures in the links above) for the stylus and the USB-C adapter and a few papers. Anything else you need such as the charger, USB HD or mouse etc would have to be kept in a separate bag.

Hope this makes it clear 🙂

Yes, I saw they did black and red and of course black goes with anything !

I keep my Book in the case all the time now and I find the hard edges are good to rest the bottom of my palms/top of wrists when half typing and half reading.

I am going to order a black one so I have a replacement when this starts to look a bit scruffy !

Thanks Arga F but that is way past my pay grade with my brand new book. Maybe when it gets a bit older 🙂

For now all I want is to find how to integrate the Bluetooth GPS (which the book can see) with any mapping software or apps. I just cannot understand why this should be so hard as Android devices use GPS in so many ways and yet Windows 10 it appears nowt !

    …..

The USB C-USB 3.1 cable I bought https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B016LT3MZS doesn’t seem to charge with my Power Bank. Guess I’m going to have to wait on Banggood replying to me (still waiting!) and China Post ? Beginning to regret my purchase now!

Have you tried this cable with a reasonable powerful (2A rather than 1A) ordinary USB mains charger ?

I have got a Bluetooth GPS but amazingly Windows 10 does not have a simple solution to use this GPS with mapping – does anyone know how it can be done please ?

I have managed to poll it and get a single Lat & Long but as to integrating it with W10 no luck at all

I don’t understand – if the keyboard arrived with the touchpad not working it is not your responsibility to send it back – the vendor should pay. If it failed after you have has it for a while then it is a warrantee claim but again it should not leave you out of pocket
