In reply to: Running Linux on the EZBook 2?
I found a more explicit directions for getting the Broadcom B43 driver installed…
output of the lspci -nn -d 14e4: command should look something like this, does it?…
02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Limited BCM4313 802.11bgn Wireless Network Adapter [14e4:4727] (rev 01)
If yes, then follow these steps: [edit:] damn, I forgot without internet connection this won’t work. Can you use a USB Wifi adapter or some other way to get internet connection?…
sudo apt-get purge bcmwl-kernel-source sudo apt-get update sudo update-pciids sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer sudo rebootOctober 12, 2016 at 3:33 pm #54712In reply to: Running Linux on the EZBook 2?
For any BayTrail and CherryTrail devices this would be my recommendation to start with: http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/ubuntu-16-10-beta-2-for-intel-baytrail-and-cherrytrail-devices-2/
I’ve tried th new Ubuntu 16.10 Beta 2 for Intel Baytrail and Cherrytrail Devices from linuxium booting from a live usb and still no wi-fi, no sound, and no touchpad
Do you think it’s advisable to try to install it and then look for patches?
Yes. Install it. Then you can attempt to install the drivers/patches. Which WiFi device do you have? Is it the Realtek rtl8723bs? Open a Terminal window (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run this command and paste the output here:
lshw > lshwinfo.txt && gedit lshwinfo.txtOctober 11, 2016 at 5:25 pm #54680In reply to: Stuck in bootloop after win 10 reset
Yea!! I restored the oem WIN 10 without using 2 usb sticks and the Chuwi forum procedure .I tried but kept getting the ‘drive not found cannot create directory’ error .
You can install any Win 10 (pro ,home ,8.1 enterprise didn’t work) using Rufus tool and a ISO image of Win 10 .Problem installing other Win10s is its laggy when playing certain games and thats sucks ,The wifi is also spotty also you have to manually install every driver.
To reinstall the original OS you need to download from Chuwi forums http://forum.chuwi.com/thread-15-1-1.html the WIN 10 firmware in it includes the boot files (usb1) and image( usb2) you only need the image.wim file.
Download an Win 10 installation iso from anywhere (PB is good) . Get the Rufus tool to create a usb bootable win install disk. After you created a bootable
usb disk with your downloaded Win 10 ISO , open the usb to find the folder sources , replace the image.esd with image.wim you downloaded at Chuwi Forums .Rename image.esd to something else since you won’t be using it.rename image.wim to image.esd. Plug it in to your Hi10 and boot to usb and install .That easy
Hope that helps someone with a serial 421608xxxxx and that can’t install the way instructed at Chuwi Forums.
October 10, 2016 at 7:53 am #54569Hi, SK. About your questions:
1.- You can update to Windows 10 anniversary update. But don’t use Windows update. If you do so, Windows downloads about 8 Gb of data at your storage memory, and then it makes a full copy of your old operating system (can be almost 20 Gb more), so the internal storage memory will be full and the update will fail (after some hours working). So the right way to do this is to use the Microsoft media tool to create from a computer an USB installation drive of Windows 10 Anniversary Update, then use the OGT to connect this USB to the tablet, and launch the setup from Windows in your device. It’s also sightly faster, about 1 hour and a half “only”.
2.- If you want update Android, go to http://www.teclast.com/en/firmware/showtools.php, and then at the upper menu select Download – Firmware, and write the code from your model (for example, C2D4 or C2D6). You’ll find some files, you only need the Android one, Windows is not neccesary if you’ve updated to anniversary update (it’s an older version). There is also a DOC file containing instructions to manage the process to update. Follow it and you’ll sucessfully finish the update without problems.
3.- I don’t know the Driver Boost you’re talking about. All the drivers for the tablet are already installed, and as long as I know, you don’t need any aditional driver. But, as I already said, I don’t know how Driver Boost works.
4.- About wifi, I think it’s a hardware problem, so the only thing you could do is to open your tablet and make some DIY inside your device to improve it. There are some guides in the forum. However, I didn’t notice any wifi problem at my tablet, maybe because I’m working fairly near my router (about 20-30m), or maybe because they’ve solved the problem in newers models, I don’t know. And about the speakers issue, I didn’t read nothing about that, I don’t know what’re you talking about.
5.- I suppose all your gadgets must work in your new device. But I can’t be sure, obviously. About the keyboard, any bluetooth keyboard should work (in theory), with the SD card and the cable is the same (should work), and with the case you could find some problems with size or mismatched holes for the connectors, but it’s all in my opinion.

ParticipantHi,
I’m a first time Teclast tablet owner, and my tablet will be arriving tomorrow. Just looking for instructions/advice/tips on getting my X98 Plus II setup and up to date properly. I’m fairly computer and Windows/Android savvy.
A couple of questions that I have, 1: does the Windows 10 Anniversary update and standard Windows updates work, if so, is it just a standard install after doing windows updates etc.? related to this, will I need to reinstall the button that switches between operating systems, I think the anniversary update erases it?
2: I’ve been reading here about an Android 1.05 update firmware, but I don’t quite understanding the process, and files needed to do all of that, or if it’s recommended. Does the Android update automatically with Teclast or do I need to download some files?
3: On the Windows side, does using an automatic search+update driver updater like Driver Booster work or cause problems? I use this on PC and a previous Windows tablet without issues. Are there any drivers I should manually update first?
4: I’ve been reading here about wifi issues, and issues with the headphones/speaker, what steps should I take to enhance and improve the speakers and wifi?
5: I have a standard Android/Windows Bluetooth 3.0 keyboard w touchpad, a Micro HDMI cable, 32 GB Micro SD/TF card, a micro USB/USB adapter cable, and a case that is for the X98 Plus 9.7, all for the tablet, should these devices/accessories work easily? anything I need to know?
Thanks in advance for the replies.
October 8, 2016 at 12:34 pm #54489In reply to: Poor Wifi performance
That’s the same problem i have.
The workaround i have adopted until the present time, is using only USB 2.0 devices, or if i need to connect a USB 3.0, i will only do it when i am not needing the Wifi connecting… because it’s going to drop!
Also the Wifi tops speed is around 45Mbits, but it drops to around 20Mbits when using a Bluetooth mouse with the built-in cube Bluetooth connection.
I guess the Wifi is the biggest drawback of this device.
Does anyone here has replaced the Wifi card?

I also have problems with wifi when usb 3.0 flash drive is plugged in on my cube i9. Internet just stops working but as soon as I take away usb flash it immediately starts working again and pages load as usual.
Then I tried old usb 2.0 flash drive and the was no any issues at all!
It is very annoying. Have not tried usb c.
October 7, 2016 at 10:14 am #54043In reply to: USB 2.0 port and bluetooth issues
I reply myself, just in case someone is experiencing the same issue.
I bought a new bluetooth mouse for 11 bugs and works like a charm, it seems the older one was “too old”, works well with other pcs though, so it must be something with drivers of both card chipset and mouse . As to sound no bluetooth headset, not tried again, better wired.
Wifi still estable, though not much speed, up to 32 at it best. I got a 5G usb adapter, let’s see how it works. Once tested I will report.
USB 2.0 port still the same, no clue or explanation why it works like that yet.
Cheers!
October 5, 2016 at 9:46 am #52852Hi,
I tried 16.04.1 LTS image from Linuxium website (https://linuxiumcomau.blogspot.com/2016/10/running-ubuntu-on-intel-bay-trail-and.html) and I can confirm HDMI audio, ethernet and wifi works out of the box. However, Bluetooth does not work.
I downloaded ISO image and have written it to USB with mkusb application (Under Ubuntu Linux).
I tried this on PCG02U Stick PC by MeLE company (on Aliexpress it is called Fanless Ubuntu 14.04 Intel PC Stick Star Cloud PCG02U Mini PC Bay Trail Z3735F 2GB DDR3 32GB eMMC HDMI LAN WiFi).
I also tried Ubuntu 16.10 Beta 2, but it does not boot.
Regards,
M.

If you have internet access from a USB WiFi NIC, here is something to try…
sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer
then unplug USB wifi and rebootif it’s still not working then run that wireless-info script above and post the output here.

@Laroslav, Also, right after booting up and before doing anything, run the dmesg command in a Terminal and put the log file on Pastebin and post the URL:
cd ~ dmesg > dmesg.log.txtThere you go.
It’s missing the firmware files for the WiFi module…
[ 28.225758] rtl8723bs mmc2:0001:1: Direct firmware load for rtlwifi/rtl8723bs_nic.bin failed with error -2
You could probably pull these files off of the USB boot disk or get them from the github repo. In the Wifi driver Make file you can see where these files are copied during installation, and so I guess you can find them in this location on the USB boot drive. Are they at this location on your installed HD drive? I think not.cp -n rtl8723bs_nic.bin /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/rtl8723bs_nic.bin
cp -n rtl8723bs_wowlan.bin /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/rtl8723bs_wowlan.binedit: you can pull them from the driver dev’s github repo if needed:
cd ~ wget https://github.com/hadess/rtl8723bs/raw/master/rtl8723bs_nic.bin sudo cp -n rtl8723bs_nic.bin /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/rtl8723bs_nic.bin wget https://github.com/hadess/rtl8723bs/raw/master/rtl8723bs_wowlan.bin sudo cp -n rtl8723bs_wowlan.bin /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/rtl8723bs_wowlan.bin sudo rebootOctober 4, 2016 at 7:33 pm #52662In reply to: Linux on EZPad 5S
Well, at least now we know which WiFi NIC you have – Atheros AR9271.
Sorry, I should have edited last post.
That one is my USB Wifi dongle, to keep me online. The one from the tablet is a Broadcom 4343.
I’ve seen drivers, even for the SDIO one, but I got nothing.I got nothing about this card, not even errors on dmesg or something (https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=370108).
I saw some scrips for wifi debuging, will try to run them and see the output after cleanup things from touchscreen 😉October 4, 2016 at 7:21 pm #52661In reply to: Linux on EZPad 5S
Yes I tried it… why you don’t believe me? lol.. I simply got lucky by visiting their website yesterday morning.
It boots up normally, but what’s not working on any other distro isn’t working here too. Just that. No wifi, sound, touch, sdcard…
In fact now I have that version installed and dual booting along with win10 on my machine. Here’s the output:

What is your output from running this Terminal command?:

Hi! I’m new here, but have been following since a couple days ago and tried some of your methods. Changing the BIOS ACPI to PCI setting got the wifi to work, but audio is nonfunctional even with latest 16.10 beta 2 distro on liveUSB. Bluetooth only functioned with Linuxium’s alterations to the iso [\url]
I know I shouldn’t be booting up unofficial kernels, but I went for it anyway. Though my display is recognized as “unknown” it boots up on full 1920 x 1200, albeit it’s recognized as an “unknown display”. There is a decent amount of screen tearing, but I’m going to go back to the BIOS settings and tinker around with them to see if i can get GFX support on to help with that (I read elsewhere that that setting helped with Chuwi Hi10 on Remix OS to fix display issues and freezes, though apples to oranges I guess).
Cheers!
