I agree 100% with qsqa : I have had 2x Chuwi tablets fail miserably on me (a Hi10 and a Hi8 Pro), so that’s a failure rate of 2 out of 2 and enough for me to realize that I need to stay away from Chuwi and spend my money on other brands.
Chuwi are a bunch of incompetent amateurs whose company motto is to sell “Chinese Quality” (as in “total and utter CRAP“) products, and they sure are doing a fantastic job doing EXACTLY that… Look at the number of complaints and problems in this subforum with their products.

My advice : STAY AWAY FROM CHUWI PRODUCTS

Does it works interchangeably on Windows and Android? Because it works until I change to Android and Windows multiple times.

I have a Windows 10 (x64) only Cube iWork10 Ultimate so I cannot comment on switching back and forth between OS’s and using microSD cards.

It may be the continuous switching that is causing the problem for you ? I don’t know how reliable Android works with “foreign” file system formats (like NTFS)…

Is Samsung SD Card bad? Because when I see on Amazon Review Page, Samsung has so much better review compared to Sandisk cards. Based on that, I believe Samsung is better card than Sandisk. I will probably try Sandisk SD Card next time, probably the tablet has a bad compatibility with Samsung one.

Samsung is considered to be a good brand name, I believe… I cannot comment on how good or bad Samsung SD/microSD cards are because I have never used them since I have excellent track records with all my SanDisk SD and microSD cards (and I have a lot of them and use them heavily), so I see no reason to change brand names since the ones that I use work flawlessly (I haven’t had 1 single SanDisk SD/microSD card fail on me so far).

Also : make sure that you buy your (micro)SD cards from a reliable source (not the cheap/fake crap you find on ebay or Chinese websites).

I reinstalled Windows 10 (x64) immediately after I received my tablet (after making backups and copying the drivers and touch screen settings file, of course).
So it’s not my reinstalled OS that is causing the problem since you have it with the stock OS.
I also believe that it’s not the Flash software since I also experienced the issue in VLC when playing a movie.

I have noticed that it’s been a while since I had a display driver crash, though… Maybe some of the latest Windows updates solved the issue ?

I have a SanDisk Ultra 64GB (NTFS-formatted) microSD card in my Cube iWork10 Ultimate tablet and it works perfectly. 8 haven’t had any problems with it yet. I personally have very good experiences with SanDisk microSD and SD cards, I haven’t had a single card fail on me in my tablets and video cameras.
I suggest that you try to stick with well known and established brand names, they seem to be more reliable than the cheaper/unknown brands.

@Mike : I have the same issues, sometimes the display driver software seems to crash for some reason. It seems to happen only when I’m playing back videos in fullscreen mode (in VLC or YouTube).

BTW : do you have Windows 10 that came with the tablet installed on it or did you reinstall Windows 10 from scratch ?

I would like to change the layout in order to have an AZERTY keyboard without having to put stickers on the Keys. Thank you

@Henry Atcorner : take a look at the keyboard dock cover picture that I posted in my original post and notice the spacing in between the keys and how it is constructed. You will see that the keys are “sunken” into the top cover which has key cutouts for each individual key. You will face a lot of difficulties removing the keys from this keyboard dock because there is not enough room to get your key removal tool legs underneath the actual keys, unless you disassemble the keyboard dock itself and remove the top cover… So I recommend that you go with the sticker option if you want to avoid the trouble and the risk of damaging your keyboard dock.

Also keep in mind that these small sized QWERTY keyboards are missing 1 key when compared to our AZERTY counterparts (in between the left Shift key and the Z key) : they have a much larger left Shift key in place of the 2 keys that we have. And that 1 specific key that is missing happens to be very important for those who do a lot of programming with an AZERTY keyboard layout… 🙁 🙁 🙁

Is this one better than the Chuwi HI10? i have to admit i like the products Chuwi make, they look like they were well built.

I highly recommend that you stay away from Chuwi, they produce CRAP that doesn’t work properly. Take a look at the Chuwi Hi10 and Hi8 Pro subforums and count the number of posts about problems, then you’ll see what I mean (I myself was forced to return a Hi10 and a Hi8 Pro back to China because of serious issues that can’t be fixed). Then take a look at this Cube iWork10 Ultimate subforum and count the number of problem posts in there.
I haven’t had a single issue yet with my Cube iWork10 Ultimate tablet, and the build quality is definitely a whole lot better than Chuwi (Cube’s engineers seem to know what they’re doing and know how to build properly working tablets, that’s something that I cannot say about Chuwi).
I cannot comment on the Teclast Tbook 11 because I don’t own it, but Teclast’s reputation is also better than Chuwi so it might be worth checking out.

I think that the number of these problems posts will immediately reveal what you need to buy and what you need to avoid at all costs…

My latest issues, the screen is all messed up. @evil-e I think it’s both, clearly they knew it had issues but just pushed it out as it was delayed countless times.

I’m sure that Chuwi knew about this. They held back the Hi8 Pro for 1-2 months because of the screen issues, and now we have video evidence that it still isn’t properly solved. And I’m guessing that Chuwi knew about the power problems as well…
My Hi8 Pro is on its way back to China (as is my Hi10) to be repaired or replaced with a properly working batch model (hopefully the latter).

    I do know 1 thing : I’m not buying any more Chuwi crap, that’s for sure… 🙁 🙁 🙁

If I remember correctly, the Hi10 also had serious power issues. Is the Hi10 also manufactured with one of these 2 BIOS chips ?

I find it unlikely that a BIOS chip would be able to cause such serious power problems. I think that this is a case of incompetence by Chuwi who don’t seem to have the slightest idea of how to design and manufacture a proper power circuitry for a tablet…

    Hi Chris,

Sorry, I wasn’t home earlier today to provide assistance with the BIOS file. But you seem to have recovered your bricked device beautifully by now…
Congrats on the excellent job done, mate !!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

And thanks a lot for posting the photos of the internals, that is VERY interesting to see (and read). 😉

How could Chuwi not know of this issue? Was it even tested before release?

My guess is that Chuwi doesn’t properly test their products. Look at 2 of their latest products ( the Hi10 and Hi8 Pro) and the problems that buyers have with these devices, as evidenced by the posts in the forum here on Tech Tablets… Chuwi sure took their sweet time to fix that Hi8 Pro screen flicker issue before it was properly launched, for instance. Maybe the end-of-year sales period made them rush the Hi8 Pro and Hi10 design/development phase to be able to grab more money (at the cost of product quality and stability, which of course now shows its ugly head)…

I can only think of 2 reasons why these problems occur in these tablets :
    (1) Incompetent engineers who don’t know how to design a properly functioning power delivery circuit for a tablet/battery
    (2) Chuwi’s top management instructing their engineers to take shortcuts to save time and money at the cost of quality

    or even worse : both…

Chris, do you think that there is a possibility to force Chuwi to pay for return shipping of the dead tablets based on the fact that this is obviously a manufacturing error or (even worse) a design fault in the power circuitry ?

I also find it shocking that our support/warranty requests seem to be answered quite frequently with the standard reply of “we’ve informed Chuwi and they are working on a SOFTWARE solution“, as if these Chinese sellers don’t even bother properly reading what we write… I’ve had this exact same reply given to me for a tablet that arrived with a cracked display/glass. I’d LOVE to see how Chuwi fixes a cracked display/glass with nothing but a software update

Kris : can you please provide the link for the download so that other members can also find the update file(s) ?

Have you downloaded and installed this package ? And if yes : can you please tell us how much free disk space there is available in Windows 10 and Android (5???) after installing ?

Try this, hold the power button down for over 10 seconds. 15 to make sure. Plug it in and leave it for a good 4 hours or better overnight. If it fails to boot, try hold for 10 seconds, then 3-4 seconds, release and then 304 again. If you get nothing it’s dead. My Hi8 Pro is alive again after doing this. No too happy about this, I mean the Vi8 Plus is fine, the only difference is the screen right? And maybe a different bios is to blame.

I’ve tried it all, mate… With and without the power cable connected, with and without the volume buttons. Nothing works… I contacted the seller to see how they want to handle this from now on (still waiting on their reply). So this most likely means sending it back to China and I have to pay for it. And I already had to pay 30 euros customs import taxes on it to get my hands on it. Shipping back to China registered will cost me another 45 euros, I think… This PIECE OF CHUWI CRAP is starting to get real expensive……. 🙁 🙁 🙁 And this is the 2nd Chuwi that I need to send back to China (the other one was a Hi10 damaged during shipping).

The screen is higher resolution compared to the Vi8 Plus (1920×1200 pixels), but that’s why I wanted this tablet in the first place. I guess I’ll have to wait until Cube releases an 8 inch intel/Windows tablet with a Full HD screen…
