Same issue here. Plug a USB keyboard and you’ll gain control of the bios again. I think this Bios is crippled on this setting.</p>
I’m actually thinking of doing this to install manjaro and Refind and switch back to regular “Windows” bios setting. It is the only way I managed to get a Manjaro USB stick to boot.Edit : I confirm this works. I installed manjaro and switched the setting back in the Bios.
October 22, 2017 at 8:26 pm #73791What makes you say it’s Refind ?
Did someone managed to run linux without Refind ?
September 28, 2017 at 12:25 pm #72760This is more or less what I also used.
I’ve purchased this ezBook 3 pro from Gearbest in August and received a V4. By now they might be selling a V5 🙂September 11, 2017 at 9:35 am #71917Bindkey is only for zsh. I’m using Xmodmap https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/xmodmap
Create an ~/.Xmodmap file and it will be loaded automatically on boot. So yes it is system wide.
Also look at the xev utility if you want to try this. Here is the content of my file :
keycode 104 = Return keycode 163 = Prior keycode 78 = Next keycode 95 = Home Home Home Home F11 F11 XF86Switch_VT_11 keycode 96 = End End End End F12 F12 XF86Switch_VT_12September 10, 2017 at 7:21 pm #71902Maybe it’s just my laptop’s hardware issue, but I noticed some minor weirdness/issues
- The ENTER key registers a KP_Enter keycode instead of a Return keycode
- Fix: Remap key
I’m getting the same behavior probably a pooly designed keyboard. This breaks the Enter key in ZSH for example. Fortunately it is fairly easy to remap the correct key. I took the opportunity to remap F11 and F12 keys to home, end, page up and page down. I’m starting to think this lapbook can be usable as a linux machine !
September 9, 2017 at 4:14 pm #71873Ah I don’t fancy KDE that much. I guess I’ll stick with Xubuntu for now.
Here is the link of the custom ISO I built and installed :

Strange. I’ve just tried Manjaro 1703 RC1 and it did not boot either on my Pro3 machine. Which manjaro flavor did you use ?
September 8, 2017 at 6:13 pm #71824Posting this from custom Xubuntu installed on a second usb stick. It all seems fine. The image will install rEFInd by default so you don’t even have to bother to install it yourself. The trick is to boot the Linux kernel from rEFInd and not the Ubuntu grub menu selection.
It’s working so well I am wondering if I am going to bother with Manjaro after all. Now all I need is a proper SSD.
September 8, 2017 at 1:56 pm #71818Hell I’m bored at work here is how to respin your own isos on a ubuntu computer or virtual machine :
Get all the info here : http://linuxiumcomau.blogspot.com/1/ Install a few packages :
sudo apt-get install -y squashfs-tools xorriso
2/ Download the ubuntu flavor iso you want to respin.
3/ In the same folder download isorespin.sh from here : https://goo.gl/ZnUd6H
4/ Then Run :
sudo bash isorespin.sh -i #ISO PATH# --apollo -u
5/ There will be a new ISO generated. You can then copy it to your USB key using dd (replace sdX with your USB drive).
sudo dd if=#NEW ISO PATH# of=/dev/sdX bs=4MThat’s it.
September 8, 2017 at 1:24 pm #71811All right. I’ll try to do it later today or in the weekend. If you could give me the account that would be easier for me. Also, as I’m new around here, Chris if you have a preferred solution to upload big files on the forum let me know.
In any case I’ll also put the command line I used. It is really easy to use if you want to respin your own ISO.
September 8, 2017 at 11:50 am #71790Thanks Chris I’ll try another Manjaro release.
In the evening I did manage to boot a custom Xubuntu 17.04 I created using the awsome isorespin.sh tool. So linux definitively boots on the jumper 3 pro V4. Sound and wifi were working. Firefox seemed a bit laggy. I did not try to install Ubuntu as I have no SSD yet. If someone really needs the xubuntu image I can share it.
I think Linux Arch or Manjaro is definetively doable. isorespin.sh uses rEFInd to boot ubuntu or windows. That’s probably something to look into.
I’ve also noticed that the BIOS gets bugguy if you select “Intel Linux” as your booting OS : the screen has no backlight and the main keyboard is not recognized by the bios. I had to plug a USB cable and turn of the lights to switch back to “Windows”. So except if a bios update is released, stay on the “windows” OS selection setting and use rEFInd.
September 8, 2017 at 11:31 am #71786Hi had the same issue. Windows would not activate and updates were not working. It turns out that the Windows Update Service is not started automatically. Change this in the settings and it will enable windows activation and updates. I hope this helps !
Also there seems to be a few suspicious apps running on startup I advise you clean those up. I’m trying to run linux so I won’t bother with doing a fresh install of windows. But it is also an option.
September 7, 2017 at 2:26 pm #71705I have just recieved the jumper EZbook 3 pro from Gearbest. For me this setting does not work.
If I select HS400 or HS200 in the bios windows won’t boot but display a blue screen 🙁
If I switch back to the original setting it works. Is there another setting or driver I am missing ?
