No worries, my Brother has two many gadgets apparently and is willing to part with an older Surface Pro complete with stylus and keyboard. It’s about as good as I can ask for and comes in cheaper than anything I’d buy new ($100). I would have spent that trying to fix my Hi12.
Keep supporting Techtablets
Bye for now

December 14, 2018 at 6:06 pm #149155This post being a year old, I’m sure you’ve sold it, but yet I must inquire…
I’m looking for a used HI12 or parts including an LCD screen
thanks for your time

July 27, 2018 at 4:01 pm #144844Thank you Andrew, since those posts I have managed to get the batteries I need, but I am glad you’ve made this post and can make available batteries for someone else.
I was able to order one battery through Amazon.ca – it cost more than anywhere else and took a long time to arrive. This delay was likely due to ground shipping instead of air. I also got another with the extra Mi Drone I purchased after a crash which damaged the camera of my first unit.
Currently I have two working Mi Drones but only one has the original camera. The other flies fine and I may experiment with attaching an action camera. I purchased a 3D printed part which facilitates thee attachment of an action camera at the access panel where the original camera typically attaches. Not as good as the original (not nearly) but for some applications it may do.
This leaves me with 3 batteries for 2 drones – a ratio I don’t see as optimal, but at the moment I have spent all I can and should on what is still only a hobby. Moving forward, I may have need for more batteries, but without a plan to split an order with others or resell the units, I simply can’t envision being able to justify a purchase of ten batteries. At least at this time.
Thanks though
sincerely
Kris
May 16, 2018 at 10:58 pm #143081I have learned a bit since this post and although the answer posted here does work, I don’t think it is a complete description of the problem.
I am referring now exclusively to Android devices, although IOS may have a similar feature.
Some phones and tablets will seek out the data connection if Wifi is sub-par. I had this happen at a hotel once when watching a streaming service. I’m sure many others have had this happen. Cost a bundle in overages, but my carrier was sympathetic and reversed the charges with a stern ‘don’t do it again’. Meaning it would be a one-time kindness.
To find this bug they call a feature and turn it off, Android 7 has it under the Advanced Wifi menu where it is called, ‘Auto switch to mobile network’.
Turning off data works and may still be needed with different versions of the OS where perhaps the menu option mentioned here is not available.
I am experiencing a different connection issue now on an Acer 8 inch B1 810 running Android 4.4.4 with only 1gb Ram. Perhaps it’s time I post the question here, or on the dedicated Mi Drone forums.
March 10, 2018 at 5:30 pm #140487I believe I have solved this issue. Once I turned off the phone’s data the connection went smoothly and quickly. I also turned data back of afterward without apparently disrupting the connection. I have yet to fly, because of the cold, but in the upstairs room I call my studio it does connect to GPS and tells me it can take off.
Thanks so much for your time.
Kris
PS; I may better serve the community by posting this issue in a new post with proper description in subject heading.
March 8, 2018 at 5:39 pm #140408I need to followup on this thread because I’ve got the goods now and I’m fairly impressed (with Xiaomi AND GearBest). Due to the Chinese New Year, my package sat for two weeks untouched. I had planned to purchase from Banggood this time because I had one or two less than stellar transactions with GB. However the prices rose daily and instead of purchasing, I began kicking myself for not taking the plunge when the prices were actually quite a large amount less. That’s when I reached out here.
Chris G. – the stand-up guy he is, offered a great coupon which brought the price into my range. Without too much hesitation I ordered the Mi Drone 4K along with the protective blade guards as well as the Gimbal handle.
I expected all this to arrive with the sun another month down the road. I was delighted to find that, not only was it fast, DHL didn’t hold it hostage (avoided the US I guess).
All told I am really digging the gear, but have one issue. Connecting to the WiFi is not working correctly. I get the error ‘please connect to relay WiFi’
I have an old Xperia that does connect to the gimbal handle, but not to the RC unit.
My Axon 7 won’t even do that. Plugging in the USB tethering option works fine however, well enough that in my upstairs studio it manages to get a strong connection to GPS having left the props off I had an “All systems are go!” moment.
Does anyone know how to get beyond the WiFi connection issues I am having? I’ve seen others on other forums asking the same question but the answers simply aren’t there.
BTW, I’ve read some people wondering what comes with the unit re: USB or WiFi dongle, blade guards etc.
At this time, GearBest lists their contents as including 1 x Quadcopter ( Battery Included ), 1 x Transmitter, 1 x Camera, 1 x Charger, 1 x English Manual.
What I received was not quite the same;
No instructions whatsoever (oops, correction. I did receive a well laid out, though slightly breifer version of the English language manual which I had downloaded and printed needlessly)
WiFi Dongle
USB Dongle
North American plug battery charger. I fully expected otherwise as I thought I saw it listed as a CN plug.
To wrap up – very happy with it. Anxious for better weather, hoping to overcome this WiFi bug soon.
Thank you Chris for your help purchasing this- I must reiterate that supporting this site is important, I’ve tried however and clicking the Paypal donate buttons only take me to PayPal – no specifics on the recipient are shown and the transaction stalls. Help me help you :-}
Sincerely
Kris B.
February 13, 2018 at 8:30 pm #79419They appear out of stock but I’ll look into this, thank you.

February 12, 2018 at 3:31 pm #79347Thanks for your post. I’ll look into it. I won’t hold my breath though; it isn’t a DJI I’ve ordered, it’s a Xiaomi. They aren’t sold in a store and parts are even less likely.
Thanks though. I will look into it.
February 8, 2018 at 6:16 pm #79137Hi Chris, that is what I expected (Re; the plug). I have a bunch of those kicking about.
I just now bit the bullet and went for it! Thank you so much for the coupon, I ordered a Fimi monopod to extend the functionality of the camera along with the Mi Drone.
I also have been trying to drop a couple bucks for TechTablets through PayPay, but can’t figure out how. Any options in Paypal ask for a phone # or email. I really appreciate the work you do and use TechTablets on a regular basis.
Once logging into PayPal and clicking ‘Donate’ on the ‘support-us’ page, I’m in my main account and click ‘Send Money’ both options available ask for ‘Email address, phone number or name’.
I want to support the community, perhaps I’m showing my age and it’s easy for anyone under 40 to do. When you have time perhaps you can help or point me to instructions that may already be posted here.
thanks
Kris
February 5, 2018 at 3:59 pm #79027Thank you Chris, that does shave a few bucks off. While that is $533 CAD they do charge for $29 shipping and only send the EU plug. Still that is a better deal than there is anywhere else.
Can you confirm the plug is of a standard type that I could swap out for a North American style one? None of the photos of the accessories are very clear, but it looks like a simple affair.
The information that there is a V2 and/or a foldable Mavic clone possible is the kind of thing I was wondering, even if I’d didn’t specifically know… thanks a bunch.
I’d be putting you on my Christmas card list – if I had such a thing.
Thanks again
Sincerely -Kris
October 31, 2017 at 9:17 pm #74212Can you post a pic of the other side of the Outer touch screen you have posted? You are asking $65 US while Banggood has a similar item for $48.88 US ($63 CAD) I want to know if the part you have saves me from having to use a heat gun.
October 26, 2017 at 3:55 pm #73968Oh ya… I also stopped using the Hi12 keyboard. I think this is a very serious issue. The thread started by Guy was a month ago and the only reply was another person saying they too had this issue.
At the very least, I think Chris could write a post recommending care when using the keyboard. Always be sure it is seated correctly when opening and closing. The tablet is way under engineered for the strength of the hinge resistance.
Has this issue been addressed already?
October 26, 2017 at 3:32 pm #73966I just posted regarding this too. I didn’t look closely enough at existing posts. Yes, this is an issue. I think one needs to be diligent when opening with a keyboard. Perhaps having a case that keeps the tablet seated would help.
Mine is from the old original KB. I see that you are using the black button -newer KB.
Sucks
October 22, 2017 at 2:10 am #73764I have had this issue on and off for quite a while too. I’ve used several different cords and also use a 2a wall charger. The port is rather loose sometimes, allowing the cord to fall out or just not fit tightly. I am starting to think that the plugs are losing their connections. I had tried a magnetic plug to reduce the wear and tear on the internal hardware; that seemed to work for a while, but then suddenly it stopped working at all. Since then I tried a newer cord and it worked right away. Personally I think it is a failing of many devices and a weak spot for phones and tablets alike, across other brands as well. I’m hoping I don’t have to try and solder a replacement…. my soldering sucks.
If there is a higher quality magnetic system out there, I’d go that way. The one I used (two actually) had gimpy wires that were thin and caused, I think, a bottleneck in the current so that it trickled the charge more like a one amp charger
June 20, 2016 at 6:45 pm #41579This is a fairly old post, but I got here on a similar issue. I am learning a new Chuwi Hi12 keyboard and suddenly the touchpad no longer worked. Realizing that everything else worked I assumed that by trying various fn keys I must have disabled the touchpad.
In case anyone else gets here still not knowing what happened, on the Hi12 keyboard the touchpad toggle is on the f11 key…. .: pressing fn and f11 will switch the touchpad off or on. I’d expect a similar switch is on the vi10 and some (Pipo W3F for one) have a dedicated touchpad toggle button on the keyboard.
