Or try to directly charge the battery and flash the BIOS if that doesn’t help.
Just read the thread and the instructions (pdf) of Bill Christiansen.Another option is contact the seller and try to return it for repair.
But in the end it’s call in the game with buying cheap a-lot-of-bang-for-their-bucks tablets (or any other gadgets) directly from China: you don’t get the instant 2 years guarantee with easy return policy.
The big price difference isn’t without any consequences.
September 26, 2016 at 10:39 pm #50828I haven’t done it myself, but I guess the solution is written 3 threads down
September 26, 2016 at 10:34 pm #50825It might be similar as http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/chuwi-hi12-broken-after-airplane-landing/
September 21, 2016 at 8:06 am #50338The issue with both your tablets appear similar to mine, which I decribed in detail in this post: http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/chuwi-completely-dead-no-screen-and-no-charging-led-any-suggestions/
As it happened on a table right beside the desk I was working at, I could follow it (as soon as I started noticing it).
The only “abnormal” activity right before I put it on standby was testing it with the hdmi cable I just had received (which worked). For the rest it was a normal day with a mild temperature of 20-24 degrees (Celcius).
Battery was above 25% when I put it on the charger.I hope it’s the BIOS. I’ve ordered all necessary parts as instructed by Billy Christiansen (many compliments and thanks to…).
Ps. Chris, I think that subject is worth putting a sticky on…Unfortunately the clip didn’t arrive, so I’ve had to reorder it and will have to wait another 2-5 weeks until I can try to repair it.
As extra tip for Grant if flashing the BIOS won’t work: Maybe the chip itself is fried. So as a final resort you can buy the chip for only a few $/€ and exchange it. As a precaution I’ve already bought a set of 5 on AliExpress
September 5, 2016 at 2:38 pm #48897I’d like the anti-glare.
But do you use the Hi-pen on it and is it scratch resistent enough ?
I’d prefer not to have to change the screen protector every few weeks…September 5, 2016 at 2:23 pm #48895I’d like the anti-glare.
But is it scratch resitent enough for using it with the stylus ?
I’d prefer not to have to change the screen protector every few weeks…August 8, 2016 at 1:46 pm #46109Thank you for your reply.
I was afraid of that, hoped to hear another possible cause and solution.Well, let’s start ordering the stuf…
August 5, 2016 at 7:29 pm #45752You can have large sdcards in the hi12 that windows and android can see without root or drivers. Just format the 64gb or 128gb using fat32…
The problem is that you then are limited to files under 4GB. Videofiles in Full HD are f.i. often larger. The same applies to ISO files a lot of the times.
July 31, 2016 at 3:55 pm #45197I can’t take off keyboard during night because I use to fall asleep while watching some tv series on tablet…
I use a stand for that: http://tstand.com/
July 26, 2016 at 9:09 pm #44625If someone would be able to answer your question with certainty, he or she would have.
But apparently nobody here does.
So I suggest you ask this question on the Chuwi official forum.
July 16, 2016 at 12:43 am #43598I use a Toshiba Exceria 128 GB u3 without any problems.
However, because I didn’t dare the rooting/NTSC support for Android yet (maybe over cautious), I partitioned the SD-card in a 32 GB partition (fat32 formatted for Android support) and a (around) 85 GB partition (NTSC formatted for Windows, to be able to store >4GB files).
Both systems only able to access its own partition.
Not a perfect solution, but works for me for now.
July 14, 2016 at 10:53 pm #43517My experience “in the olden days” with the PDA’s like the iPAQs and PalmPilots, is that not the tip of the stylus itself caused the scratches. The scratches were caused by dust, that gets between the screen and the stylus tip.
By being careful by often cleaning your screen and always cleaning the tip of the stylus before using (I remember the disgusting habit of licking the tip like people long ago did with their pencils), you could reduce the risk of scratching.
The problem however is, that once in a while you either forget to clean the tip or the screen, and there will be a tiny hard spec of dust (silicone from sand or clay) and you will get scratches on your unprotected screen.
July 10, 2016 at 5:50 pm #43087I don’t know if Turbo Mode (the 1.84 GHz you’re looking for) is enabled in the default BIOS settings (with Power Technology on “Energy Efficient”.
If you check Advanced – CPU configuration, the default Power Technology setting is “Energy Efficient”.
If you change that to “Custom”, you see that Turbo Mode is “Enabled”, so then you should have it available.
However, what the effect is on performance and power saving when changing this setting, and which P-state and C state settings are preferable, I haven’t got a clue (so perform at your own risk ‘;-)
July 10, 2016 at 2:55 pm #43081Haha, I did the same for this one: http://www.gearbest.com/m-goods-sn-173348302.htm
But I did receive an answer:
Your original question is “Hi, The picture of the gray/silver version seems to show the new metal version, recently announced by Chuwi. Is this correct or is this still the first generation keyboard”
Here is the answer from Our Customer service Team:
“Hello Marc,
This is the new version please. Thanks for your attention.”So good news: better quality but similar price.
So I’ve just ordered it 🙂
July 8, 2016 at 5:57 pm #42938Chris announced it already a few weeks ago:
I didn’t buy the plastic one because of bad quality experienced by users here.
But this one I think I’ll buy. If only with extra battery inside (as the extra weight), then it would be a no brainer…
