Would someone in this thread be able to help me with this issue, regarding the exfat/ntfs driver that is linked here, I’m not getting any replies on the hibook pro forum đ Thank you!
September 18, 2017 at 10:31 pm #72330Thanks for this. I followed this to re-install android and it worked. However, there is a major problem with this android version. When installing it on the hibook pro, it barely registers touches, and its so bad that I can’t unlock the screen or move around without a mouse. Its definitely a problem with the software because when I switch to windows, the touchscreen is fine. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can fix this?? please
September 16, 2017 at 3:26 pm #72198Please help! I got to this step:
- From TWRP, flash UPDATE-SuperSU.zip then reboot to Android
the instructions weren’t super detailed, so I didnt click ‘keep read only’, then I clicked install and clicked the SuperSu.zip file. It installed successfully. I didn’t click the option to wipe cache, and clicked reboot. But now when the tablet reboots, the OS section screen comes up, and when I click android, it just indefinitely stays on the chuwi logo without moving. I’m able to reboot and try again but the same thing happens. And if I try to reboot into recovery, I get an android green bot logo with a red triangle and exclamation mark :/
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get around this? THANKS so much
August 17, 2017 at 6:49 pm #70731I used this guide (http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/tethered-twrp-clean-root-exfatntfs-support-for-hi12/) and it works for me. On the first point, i already had the bootloader unlocked so i havenât lost my apps. IMPORTANT: there isnât any recovery for hibook pro at the moment, so you have to use the recovery for hibook linked there. It seems donât fit well the hibook-pro screen (resolution hibook 1900Ă1200 vs 2560Ă1600 pro) and you have to use a micro-usb mouse, otherwise itâs impossible to use the recovery! Iâm rooted now and all seems to work well!
Hi there, glad to hear you were able to root the HiBook Pro with this method. Were you also able to get exFat/NTFS sd card support?
August 17, 2017 at 6:48 pm #70730Thanks very much for your help đ
Would you happen to have a link to a guide for rooting the HiBook Pro? And just wondering, is there any indication that Chuwi are about to release a successor to this tablet? I guess it’s quite old now and I don’t want to order it and find its immediately been superseded!
March 6, 2016 at 3:33 pm #28182thanks very much for taking the time Sebastian! There’s a couple of points there that my non-technical self is still a bit confused on, but I will wait for my tablet to arrive and I will try some trial and error before bothering you any further!

</noscript>Now i must step to the next thing on my to do list: Looking for a way to get a recovery to work with the Hi8. Always having to use a tethered one is akward. Thank you so much again Sebastian Hi Sebastian, wow, I’m glad there’s a solution that works! I think based off of this post, I will finally go ahead and order the Chuwi Hi8. But I’m afraid, after reading the previous post and link by ImADev and not being super technical, I’m very confused. Would you mind writing out a short guide as to what we have to do to a brand new out-of-the-box Chuwi Hi8 in order to achieve the same result? I would be incredibly grateful.
February 11, 2016 at 7:39 pm #25742Tried several solutions. This android just canât read exfat or ntfs. Making 2 partitions is not supported on sd cards. But it is possible with some hacks. Still doesnât solve the issue that you canât use your big files on the android side.
i’m really disappointed to hear that, it’s the only thing holding me back from buying the tablet. I was really hoping stickmount or this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paragon.mounter&hl=en_GB would work, because they are designed exactly for these types of situations. guess I’ll keep searching for a work-around on forums, please let me know if you come across anything in the future! thanks for the help
February 11, 2016 at 2:33 pm #25706My chuwi hi8 also cann`t read ntfs, exfat on android.Only solution is to make 2 partition with MiniTool Partition Wizard because is free. With minitool delete all partition, create first partition ntfs or exfat because windows will see only first partition created. This partition you will use in windows.2nd partition make it ext2 , if you have root acces you can move app on this partition with link2sd.On ext2 partition you can only move app with link2sd ,this partition will be vizible only in link2sd. don
t forget 1st partition ntfs or exfat,2nd ext2 because isnt recomanded to be ext3 and tablet cant read on android ext4 i dont know why.thanks for the reply Stefan. So the android partition on your Hi8 can recognise Ext2? That’s interesting, because I’ve also read comments from other users saying that the Hi8 can’t recognise either Ext2 / 3 or 4, I guess it is hit and miss.
Am I correct in thinking that Ext2 does not have the same 4gb file limit that Fat32 has? If that’s the case, I might still buy the tablet, in order to play my 15gb HD movies from a microsd.
Also, have you ever tried stickmount to get around the issue of android not recognising exFAT? It requires root, but a user on XDA claims it should solve the issue, and I was wondering if it’s does, because that would be quite an easy way to fix the problem

February 10, 2016 at 9:57 pm #25649Raqtor, and Risto, I’m just wondering if either of you were ever able to find any solutions to this problem?
