Having purchased an array of these OTG+Charger hubs, I discovered while watching a YouTube movie that you cannot charge and use USB devices in any hub under Android, but you can under windows!!!!!!!!!!!

As I wiped windees off my tablet I cannot confirm this, I can only confirm I have not been able to get any Hub to work together.

I remember seeing a YT video of someone doing a Mod to a X80 Pro, by fitting another micro USB port with a glue gun and soldering its wires to the battery connections on the PCB but I’ve searched for it everywhere without success. However wiring a port directly to the battery terminals without going through the regulator is asking for trouble. The regulator not only corrects and maintains polarity on the + & – rails, but also smooths out the power and maintains it to a preset 5V DC within tolerance. Not the sort of thing most transformer chargers bother to do.

I personally would under take the task by wiring the port directly to the USB connectors on the PCB at the regulator side. I suspect that the single USB port is polarity reversing (reverse charge to power USB devices) probably using a switched zeneer diode, when it detects a USB device therefore cutting off the charging potential. It is possible to circumnavigate that and leave me with both the ability to use USB devices and charge the tablet at the same time.

Or Mac OS not porting to use Intel CPUs, although that is explained by the influence in the early years from Billy boy Gates. Hate can do strange things to the thinking processes.

Do you believe that MS will even attempt writing a new OS from scratch?. In my opinion, having stolen the basic code for Dos and renamed it MSDos in the beginning, their greed has done little more than simply grow. They keep churning out variations of the same theme year after year, now they are actually the last horse in the race. Linux and Android have mopped up the market that Windows had clearly overlooked for so many years, simply because they believed that a version of Windows would be the solution.

With the Google full OS on the horizon and looking very swift and will take the market away from Windows once and for all. .Net framework was supposed to have been the mobile platform that Google’s OS now is. I remember hearing Bill Gates himself announcing to the world, that Microsoft would not respond with a Internet Browser, and he considered the Internet to be a ‘passing phase’. It seems MS will become that passing phase.

I’m sure you remember WinNT (Next Technology) was supposed to be the ‘next OS’, yet it was merged with the domestic version which has led us here with Windows 10, which has become hated by the commercial/industrial world because of how subversive it is about how and why it distributes ‘updates’ that cause issues without warning. MS messed up with ME, Vista, Windows 8. Their track record isn’t as good as it would have been, if another commercially viable OS had been around to keep them on their toes.

<puts away soap box> sorry for that.. 🙂

Andrew, no need for keyboard. Once in the bios settings you can “touch” your way around the bios menus!

I appreciate that, however the whole screen was frozen and didn’t respond to any touching, except the one time when I tabbed the Advanced menu, then tabs, back buttons etc etc all disappeared. I could see partial entries but most were incomplete.

The point being, windows as a OS has been around almost as long as Dos, you would think by now it could exist without going into the Bios for anything. Android being the new kid on the block seems to do so with grace.

Go to Control panel , right click on the firmware icon and choose update device. Select automatic update using internet option , it should starts to download version 3.06. Once updated, reboot and wait for the system to apply the new firmware. You should be able to see that SD card can now be read in the file explorer. You must be sure that you have at least 80% of the battery juice before you update.

I have NO idea which tablet you have, but there is nothing like a Firmware icon in my windows control panel, or anything resembling that type of programme installed. I went and searched both the Windows, Intel and AMI websites and nothing, zip, zilch.

The SD Card problem is a bios setting which Win 10 requires and which for some reason unknown to anyone with reasonable intelligence, resets itself every time you switch to Android use! The bios setting you have to change is Advanced tab…..System Component….MS Custom Sdbus Driver….set this to ENABLED and the SD Card should work fine! Access the X80 Pro bios menu via “UEFI setting” in Win 10 Settings…..Recovery menu.

That is valuable information. I did get into the AMI bios once, but with no keyboard in DOS, it is 100% unresponsive. I got into the advanced menu but all the graphics and buttons were totally messed up and I couldn’t select anything. I tried plugging in a Usb keyboard I found but the screen was totally locked and unresponsive, I had to crash out.

Judging how the Bios resets itself when you log into Android, reinforces my statement about Windows (any version) and a mobile device. I am glad I scrubbed Windows, I have a larger storage space for Android+, I can spend much more time using the tablet than ‘fixing’ it, it doesn’t get so hot and the battery lasts longer.

No matter what I tried this ‘IntelAndroidDrvSetup1.5.0.exe’ would simply not run because windows 10 kept blocking it. I even tried running an admin cmd window and running it without success. I turned off every form of potential blocking programme off within the window system, put exclusions into every programe I have, nothing.

However the flash tool saw my device and I continued with the flash, until 85% and it failed. At that point I put into recovery mode and was left with the factory version of android and no windows, giving me the full internal drive. So the end result was what I wanted.

I tried this without result, other than windows no longer booting as it said the host SD was locked due to unknown error. Of course, I cannot do a restore, simply because there is no space to do so, and it is anal about using ‘portable storage’. Windows is really not for tablets or smartphones, the resolutions are wrong, buttons way too small, too many misclicks and bad fudged drivers.

If MicroSoft are truly serious about the Tablet market, they need to focus on making it work right, first time. I mean if they were, why are we playing with unsigned drivers and delving into the backwaters of the system. Tablets afteral are the new PC’s/Laptops… long live Android.

Well after messing about for the longest time trying to get Win 10 to see/use the TF Card, the internal SSD is now locked so I can’t even do a recovery. However it is only locked to Windows, Android can still see/use it perfectly.

I have come to the conclusion, it is not the Tablet but some flawed windows updates installing drivers that do not work. I have decided to not ever use Windows ever again on a tablet or any other device, than my static PC which it works well.

I can do everything I need on Android.

Yes, I have done that and many other things, the only thing that particular ‘fix’ did for me was to break windows, now it won’t load at all as the internal SD memory disk is locked due to invalid driver. I am totally fed up with Windows on a tablet and a smartphone. The only place it belongs is a fixed PC with a large screen in my opinion. The scales are wrong, the navigation is too complex for my fat fingers and it is resource hungry, long live Android.

The whole idea of installing Windows 10, in its current state is little more than a joke.

The way round it for me is:

Load the navigation app on my smartphone and use ScreenCast or whatever to show the results on my Tablet. As I dont need to interact with the phone during the trip and I only need follow the onscreen route, it will work for me.

All I gotta figure out is why Windows cannot see my 32gb or 64gb SDCards, when they are fully usable in Android. I did get the 32gb one to show once by changing the Host drivers to much earlier versions, but Windows kept updating them.

You can uninstall the Chinese programmes and applications that are not directly linked to the system. Which basically means that they have a uninstall exe or bat file with the programme. See below about iObit Uninstaller.

The Intel sound driver is controlling the sound output through the Bios API. Try deleting it from the Device Manager, reboot windows and see if it reloads a fresh one. I did find with my Windows 10 Home setup that many of the Intel and other drivers were out of date, I use Driver Booster from iObit which keeps me updated. They also have a programme called Uninstall, which can create a restore point, so you can roll back if there is a problem. Lastly, I use another programme of theirs called Advanced System Care v9, that is a great cleaner and system update, including any files windows misses. I do not work for iObit or get any form of gain from recommending their products, it is done simply out of experience. They are both free and ad free.

The reason a driver cannot start could be linked to several services not starting or missing, however there should be a error code reported in properties of the driver, try googling that.

I also noticed that when I plug in a sound device (remote speaker or headphones), there is a loud crack like lightening, which suggests a lack of zeneer diodes to correct any polarity issues while the plug is being inserted (effectively shorting out + & – rails). However mine do work once in place and the sound reproduction through good quality drivers is very good.

One thing I would advise, always install a Malware/Virus checker in both OS’s.

Absolutely not, neither the ghosting or bleeding should be happening. You should return the tablet for repair as it is under warranty.

One way round the issue is to use ScreenCast from my smartphone with its smaller screen and the Tablet. That should work as I do not need to interact at all once it is setup and I still have my phone and music options.

Thanks, clearly this is a infringement of the Misinformation and Sales Act. Sellers cannot state that a product has a benefit when it clearly does not.

GPS represented something high on my list of wants from a 8″ Tablet.
