Oh, and I forgot: CHUWI Pen V3 works just perfectly with Surface Pro, and costs just 1/4 of the price of original Microsoft Pen.
April 12, 2019 at 6:26 pm #151221Sorry TnF,
I was doing similar research some time ago. Unfortunately (or fortunately for me :-)), even though no USB-C, I found the ONLY RELIABLE thing is – Microsoft Surface Pro. Even though a bit expensive, lacking modern ports, but TBH I have never ever met a laptop (I use it as my main laptop) which worked so smoothly, starts extremely quickly, everything works perfectly, it recognizes any external device I connect to withouth any issues, simply perfectly tuned machine. Sorry other guys, I really like Surface Pro.
About the obsolete connectors: really no problem to get more or less any suitable hub or converter on Aliexpress for just funny price (Mini Display Port to HDMI converter just 1,5€ and works PERFECTLY…, etc.)
September 12, 2018 at 11:21 am #146825Right now I started to feel the battery of my Thinker (I bought it in May 2017) is getting thicker, fatter – it will probably destroy itself in the short time… I do not think there is something I can do about it… On the other side, it still hold the performance pretty well.
September 12, 2018 at 7:33 am #146822Sorry @Carlos, @majkel_94 for not replying sooner, I was not checking this forum for quite a time.
I am using it via HDMI, with cheapest Samsung 4K (28″ Samsung U28E590) monitor and it works well, simultaneously charging itself via Xiaomi 45W charger.
This is the hub I am using:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/dodocool-7-in-1-USB-Hub-Multifunction-USB-C-Hub-with-Type-C-4K-Video-HD/32793397293.html
Even the internal keyboard is still working (so-so) well. Using the newer one daily (I have 2 Thinkers). But on the older one (one of the very first in production last year) it looks like the battery is getting fatter and does not fit in the laptop anymore, 3 screws on the upper part (below the hinge) are already pushed out of its place with no possibility to be screwed back, and I am afraid one day it will be destroyed, so I am rather not letting it charge when nobody is in the room (to avoid the fire…). Still working and even keeping quite good discharge times, but I am cautious. Bad thing that this older one only lasted some 1,5 years, Chinese guys still have long way to go with their manufacturing quality.
June 26, 2018 at 5:10 pm #144190I got my first Thinker in May 2017. The keyboard was really bad that time, but it did not missed the strokes, it duplicated strokes instead. I had to use small piece of software which corrected that.
I have new Thinker (again) for a week or two and have to say keyboard is much better, but definitely not perfect. It is not duplicating the keys, but sometimes missing them – but quite rare. It usually misses M or N characters… That, unfortunately, cannot be corrected by any software workaround…
Otherwise Thinker is one of the best laptops I have ever seen/had, smoothly working with 4K displays through USB-C3.1 hub, simultaneously charging itself – that is the feature which my other (brand new) HP Envy only dreams of…
January 28, 2018 at 2:28 pm #77856As I wrote previously guys, I immediately reinstalled Windows to the Pro version after I received this laptop. And I never experienced any issues you describe here, even after ALL Microsoft updates. Maybe it is just a coincidence. But maybe not.
(the only issue which started about a week ago (I have it from May 2017… and using it every day as my work compouter) is upper part of display started to release itself from the case (someone already mentioned such situation here. And yes, the keyboard is shitty – but I frequently use the external one). Otherwise great laptop.
September 19, 2017 at 7:18 pm #72362No the H3 pen doesn’t work. As you know I’m using that charger and it works really well.
Hey Chris, are you sure? Today I tried the new Microsoft Surface Book Pen on my Cube Thinker and it worked correctly, so I assume Chuwi HiPen H3 will also work on both – Cube Thinker as well as Microsoft Surface Book. Am I right or not?
August 13, 2017 at 3:26 pm #70521I just recently posted this to your youtube video…:
I have the same notebook and I am not experiencing anything like this even after upgrading to the most up-to-date upgrades from Microsoft. But TBH when I bought it, I immediately reinstalled Windows with full Pro version – the one which came preinstalled on my piece did not had admin account! After such reinstall it runs just perfectly. The only minus is really bad keyboard, but most of the time I am using the external one, though.
December 27, 2015 at 5:32 pm #20087Thank you, Mirek, I did flash it successfully. It didnt even took 3 minutes… 🙂
One important thing before the flashing, though: before entering the DNX mode, X98Pro has to be switched off from Android, not Windows, before flashing. Otherwise it would not be recognized by the PC. I tried several USB cables and all the USB ports that I have on my PC, but with X98Pro switched off from Windows – no success! After I rebooted X98Pro into the Android, then switched it off in Android – voila, everything went smoothly and quickly! Thanks once again, now trying to test the performance and stability, because I was absolutely disappointed with the original ROM…
November 10, 2015 at 8:47 am #15475I also agree with Willy just partially. This tablet has excellent display, and is quite quick too. But, on my side, only in Windows 10. Android is really bad – which I regret a lot, because I need it, too. I own Chuwi Hi8 as well, which is smaller – 8 inch only – and it runs older Android 4.4.4, but it runs OK (it is also dualboot and runs Windows 10 also smoothly).
I am also spamming Teclast on Facebook in private messages daily, but so far no answer from them, which is shame. SHAME. I also could not understand how could they bring newer and newer products to the market and do not care about their best one anymore… To be honest, I would be afraid of buying anything more from them in the future and I also warn my friends.
November 9, 2015 at 3:37 pm #15429Chris, Thank you so much for the fix! I was curious about what causes the spot which my tablet also had, it disappeared and appeared again, then suddenly after one or two days of inactivity again disappeared – now I know what is causing it.
I wrote to the seller (on Aliexpress) but he suggested to do the hardreset, which I wanted to avoid to do – your fix helped!
I applied the glass screen protector to my Hi8, it looks terribly as the display is not completely flat (air bubbles and corners are not completely sticked), but at least it (hopefully) helps again these spots…
Once again, thank you Chris!
November 8, 2015 at 6:18 pm #15314Mine works similarly as Nick’s – terribly in Android.
But at least it could be charged in Android (and powered off), not just in Windows.
I wrote Teclast a message about Android stability to their Facebook page, but no reply from their side. Generally, they do not like to do any customer support at all…
November 5, 2015 at 12:43 pm #14998Hi @TP, same with me. I love TouchPal but it was lagging so much, sometimes did not even started when I needed to write something, so I had to uninstall it and use Google keyboard instead. Pity.
Overall the perfomance of Android on X98 Pro is POOR. POOR! I decided not to use it at all, and wait until they issue the update – if ever. Windows 10 is running OK, on the other side.
October 27, 2015 at 9:20 am #14291@Jean Do Cesari, will try the soft reset although so far I tried to avoid such solutions. Also, I will try to look through the other forums or websites to look after any solution. If you find something to solve this, could you post it here please?
October 26, 2015 at 9:30 pm #14248Yeah Chris, thanks for your reply.
I was also thinking the Android on this machine is still in beta, I have never seen such unstable and laggy OS on any Android device…
On the other side, Win 10 runs OK. 🙂
