Hi,
as I write in more threads here and there on TechTablets, with little experience and effort , you should be able to install and run Linux on EzB 3 Pro.
And on my version 2 (M.2 slot present, without ac wifi), wifi works with custom driver, touchpad works with like 3 commands in terminal, audio works out of the box, special Fn+ keys work out of the box. Card reader works out of the box. Bluetooth doesn’t work, but I live happily without it, but I think it should be possible to make it run, I just didn’t dig deeper, because it wasn’t my priority.
I installed Lubuntu, and after some time I hopped onto Manjaro bandwagon. I use Xface desktop now. Dualboot with factory Win 10.
Check my thread on LinuxQuestions, that should help you or ask here, what I know, I ‘ll be glad to share.
good luck,
U.
August 2, 2017 at 5:32 am #70009@FatEnzo : what Linux distro do you want to run? And do you want to just run live session or install it?
I wouldn’t say, that EZB3 pro is not good notebook to use Linux on, there are issues and install process isn’t as straightforward as could be, but issues can be solved.
I was able to install Lubuntu and Manjaro with XFCE desktop (which I use nowadays and I am very happy with it) and was able to run live session of Arch, Mint, Antergos and Solus.
Check my thread on Linux Questions, that could help you.
If there is demand, I could write more step by step tutorial for installing Linux on EZB3 Pro here on TechTablets.
Good luck,
U.
July 21, 2017 at 6:01 am #69506Briefly – there are like two ways:
With respin:
a) respin iso , boot respun iso from uefi, install linux, install refind to be able to boot installed Linux or win
Without respin:
b) install refind , insert usb with ISO (no need to be respun), edit boot parameters for usb, run ISO from usb, install Linux
Both ways have pros and cons:
With respin:
+custom kernel version (possibility to avoid hassle with wifi driver)
+add custom packages (to be able to build wifi driver, without internet access)
— respin works only for few distros of ubuntu family
Hope this helps.
July 21, 2017 at 5:53 am #69505John, if you are stjo on Linuxquestions, I answered there aswell. maybe that would help you.
July 21, 2017 at 5:00 am #69502Hi John,
to your questions:
a) there is no need to delete any drivers in the refind directory, I kept all and it works.
b) the isorespin script has developed since my installation, I used the graphical user interface, I remember I selected refind boot manager, persistent storage of 2 GB and when it asks for additional packages i entered linux-headers, build-essential, git. In that time, there wasn’t support for kernel 4.12, maybe when you try it, you will avoid problems with custom wifi driver.
The key factor is the refind boot manager, with it manually installed in win, you should be able to boot more distros from usb without the need of respin. But you need to pick one, which doesn’t need internet access for finishing the install process (for example Solus is a no no). Now I run happily Manjaro on my EZB3pro v2 with xfce desktop, it is more resource hungry comparing to Lubuntu (by 100 MB of RAM) but it runs smoothly anyway.
If you want, start here a new thread about Linux on EZB3pro and I will be glad to help and answer any questions.
July 17, 2017 at 5:29 am #69331Hi,
my experience is, there is no dedicated button battery for BIOS (UEFI) iz EZBook 3 PRO v.2. When I disconnected the main battery, the UEFI did reset to factory defaults.

June 22, 2017 at 5:44 am #68393Quick update: False panic. laptop not dead yet! 🙂
It seems like I have problem with power cable, bad connection so unit doesn’t charge. I noticed that the red led next to power socket blinked at one moment, and that sent me into right direction.
June 22, 2017 at 4:58 am #68391Hi guys,
I have unfortunately same problem. I was working on it, when suddenly it did power off and it doesn’t want to power on anymore. Removing the battery cable didn’t help at all.
I am going to write to aliexpress jumper official store, where I bought it, and will see, how they gonna handle it.
I wish your units longer life.
June 19, 2017 at 11:53 am #68305@Norg :
Antergos live ISO boots out of the box into GUI for EzB 3 pro, so for the screen test that would be easiest way to go.
But install would need wifi drivers or another mean of internet access and that’s different story.
June 6, 2017 at 4:35 am #67847Hi sleinad,
it is not Arch, it is Lubuntu.
SSD is like 5 times faster, I moved the system to it.
All hardware works in Linux, but some need some work with drivers or settings.
Check my thread on Linux questions:
May 31, 2017 at 9:13 am #67622I think best would be to remove the screw mount completely or at least make it smaller with rasp or rasper, so it wouldn’t touch the chip at all. But I didn’t want to break anything and it fits this way, so I let it be.
Because unplugging the battery resets the “bios” to defaults, I don’t think so. The ssd immediately appeared in security tab of bios. Because it is not formatted , in win I had to “manage My computer” -> something with hardware -> something with storage and there is the fdisk like utility.
May 31, 2017 at 8:49 am #67621Can you kindly post a step by step guide on how you got linux to work on your jumper ezbook3 pro? I am looking to install elementary os of kde neon on mine. Thanks
Hi Ojo,
please check my thread here, if that is enough “step by step” for you:
There are 2 main problems with ezb3pro concerning Linux installation :
a) 32bit UEFI, which doesnt want to boot 64bit grub bootloader from installation USB sticks
b) missing wifi driver
Both are addressed in the thread above. My succesful install procedure depends on isorespin script by Linuxium, which is capable of make bootable USB image from few official linux install images. Isorespin supports Ubuntu, Mint (maybe Debian, i can’t remeber atm) so you might be lucky with Elementary OS which is afaik kind of Ubuntu offspring. And I think there is always option to install one distro from another running (I have never tried this way).
I went dual boot way, and at one point I wouldn’t be able to easily continue without Windows. But what’s not easy for me, can be piece of cake for somebody more experienced.
Let me know, here or there, if everything is clear or you need more details.
May 31, 2017 at 7:33 am #67615Finally insert SSD chip, fix everything back with screws and I gently taped the end of chip to the bottom so it cannot move.
Last picture shows the disc detected in Lubuntu.

I decided not to remove the socket for screw for fixing 2240, if I ever wanted to go back to 2240 ssd, I just put tape over it, so the SSD chip doesn’t touch it directly.
