Generally the standard MICROUSB 2.0 tablets can be charged as long as you have a powerful powerbank (I mean a beast such as RavPower, these charge any portable device including tablet). If you thinking about a power bank from a dollar store, forget it.

@Roi Danton: If you are OK with the crawl speed of the 8.1 driver on Windows 10 then you should be a happy camper with getting the SD Card working. Good to hear.

Looks like others including Chuwi are still in the sport of chewing and spewing the tablets and the SD Card continues to be an issue. I’m reluctant to pursue Chuwi Hi Pro line after my experience with Teclast. Granted, the new Chuwi is the 8inch version and may be they cram the SD Card reader in smaller tablets to clear up the inventory, but it’s a new model and Chuwi keeps claiming how fantastic it is supporting SD Cards up to 128Gb.

Total nonsense supporting 128Gb cards with exFat on any of Windows 10 tablets.

I’ve seen a post elsewhere where post was saying something like … “if tablet has dual boot, then there is problem with the SD Card reader in Windows 10, if the tablet has single Windows 10 boot, the SD card reader works…”

So now putting this piece of info together with the following one seems to get a bit closer to what is going on:

    http://forum.chuwi.com/thread-3547-1-1.html
    ———

You should really enable MS Custom Sdbus Driver in the bios (under Advanced -> System Component)
This option comes available if the active OS image ID is set to Windows, so boot to windows first and then reboot and go to bios.
    Problem should be solved then.

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/drivers/sd/sd-card-driver-stack
    ———-
I am looking at the BIOS in Teclast but there is no such option to enable the “MS Custom Sdbus Driver”.

I’ve seen posts where enabling this has resolved the issue in the older Teclast tablets, I believe the x98 Air.  I thought the next Windows update will resolve it but now it seems wishful thinking so I guess you get what you pay for.

    <hr />

    EDIT:

Forgot to add one thing – for those who want to try to resolve this through the 6.3 driver, make sure the driver gets replaced. Go to C:/Windows/System32/Drivers and look up the two driver files – SDBUS.SYS and DUMPSD.SYS, when you look at the file properties, they must show 6.3 and not 10. You can see same when looking into Driver File Details in Properties for the device. I came across situation where I replaced with 6.3 and the main Properties window was showing 6.3 but looking on the drivers, were still showing 10 version.

If drivers are not replaced – your best bet is “Unlocker”. You may also need to use Safe Mode Command Prompt to change take ownership of the files.

According to this post from 2015 – Clonezilla has a limit o partitions it can handle on emmc:

    https://sourceforge.net/p/clonezilla/discussion/Help/thread/7f704146/?limit=25

If that still holds true then Clonezilla won’t help.

These two posts promote EaseUS Todo Backup

    Full disk clone backup

    https://forum.xda-developers.com/x98-air/general/teclast-x98-air-3g-tablet-9-7-2048×1536-t2913035/page1235

Apparently EaseUS can do backup of the entire eMMC including all partitions.

    Anybody tried yet?

This post says EaseUS was able to backup and restore but Windows didn’t boot…

    https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/backup-mac-os-x-el-capitan-dual-boot-w-windows-gpt.197801/

However, EaseUS website mentiones GPT backup

    http://www.todo-backup.com/products/features/

    http://www.partition-tool.com/resource/GPT-disk-partition-manager/partition-gpt-disk.htm

The EaseUS site also says it can convert the physical image to a virtual impage (P2V) function and can be attached to VirtualBox.

    http://www.todo-backup.com/products/features/convert-physical-to-virtual.htm

That’s sounds pretty interesting, since it’s an Intel tablet, I should be able to load that virtual image and test in VirtualBox to see if it works??

Sounds too good to be true?

    ——–

Personally, I have tried Casper software from Future Systems, which I use for many years successfully on windows and was able to restore a Windows-only tablet. Casper is low cost, small size and simple to use, but like others, it can see the entire drive but doesn’t see non-windows partitions.

So options exhausted here I believe. In the event I brick one of the operating systems on the dual boot, I just make it single boot Windows tablet and buy a new one. It’s not an easy picture.

I am wondering if having Windows and RemixOS can make things any prettier ..  Chuwi Hibook and Chuwi Hi10 seems come now with RemixOS.

    ====

POST EDIT: I completed the full disk sector-by-sector backup with EaseUS but didn’t have a need to restore. In any case, if you do backup, make sure you select the sector-by-sector option.

    In response to OP:

I believe the tablet was bricked because you connected another phone via OTG?? I didn’t know you can do that b I certainly wouldn’t recommend on doing. The phone or tablet need power and with two of them connected one may have behaved as source and the other one drawing the power. Who knows. For proper connection through OTG it’s best to use dedicated  powered OTG hubs in particular with you plan on attaching anything more than a USB stick.

The experience of the OP can serve as a warning – OTG cables are designed for a reason and the fact they can be used by a 5-years old doesn’t make them a consumer product. As always – RTF applies here too.

Another tip – adding sleep button:

I find the power button on the tablet a bit flimsy. Tried to do software shortcut, but SetSuspendState Sleep or the PsShutdown don’t work, instead it hibernates. So the only option I found is to emulate keypress Alt+F4.

Here is a simple way to make a shortcut for Sleep and add to Start menu in Windows:

You need automation tools such as AutoHotkey or Robotask. Create new task. You need to press the Alt+F4 keys on desktop, otherwise it just closes the topmost window. To do that, add task to open shortcut %windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{3080F90D-D7AD-11D9-BD98-0000947B0257}. After that just add stops .. press ALT+F4, up and up and Enter.

Make a shortcut and Startup button.

    Voila.

(The Hibernation still works via SetSuspendState. )

On my Teclast X98 Plus I upgraded Intel Graphics, Kionix and Goodix drivers directly from manufacturers website. There are newever versions of drivers, and also they are pretty good and I see improvements with the touch, however, I would not recommend to go to do the upgrade unless you are prepared to spend a good part of the day to try to fix the screen orientation and then the touch sensor flip & shift. It took a while to figure out the settings file.

    I post quick summary here:

    http://bbs.51touch.com/thread-141188-5-1.html

Anyways, I would recommend to stick with drivers in the Teclast driver bundle on TechTablets or from Teclast.

Impressive but AFAIK max 2gb RAM. OP looking for 4gb. And Mi Pad is Android only unless you are prepared to tinker with it.

I’ve seen these in 4gb configuration but they seem to be sold out anyways.

I didn’t see many 7-8 inch tablets with dual boot, 4GB ram and the resolution you are looking for. For this size of tablet you will have an issue with the battery. I believe Jumper was with this configuration on eBay and Aliexpress although maybe 720p resolution and standard USB.

If you want all these figures you list you may need to go for a 9-10 inch tablet. More choice and quality – e.g. Teclast.

I tried from regular USB created using Windows ISO but got same message telling me I don’t have enough space. YMMV.. following the suggestions and freeing space will work for sure

It’s not (only) firmware, it’s antenna you would need to change.

Can you be specific? DI’d you just came here because you suddenly have the issue or you had the issue in the past, fixed it with the crappy fix provided on this thread for one particular version of the tablet and the issue suddenly came back?

If you just experienced the issue for first time  it could be because Windows Update updates the drivers.. can anybody wh just experienced the issue – if you can, try rolling back the update, to see if it helps get back the card function. Please report your results after testing a few days (don’t forget to disable Windows updates after you roll back).

Yeah, so who marked it *solved*, would it be the admin (Chris) or the OP (Samuel)?

They should mark it as not solved. Makes only reason for Teclast to drag their feet on this issue.

It’s irresponsible to make give impression to people they should buy this tablet.

I can only tell if SD card is something useful then look for another tablet.

This is deal breaker of won’t get resolved till September.

A6C9, bios 3, stock dual OS and Error 10 / not showing up, SDXC 128gb Samsung Pro.

I started to have the issue after recent Windows update. It worked fine for last few weeks. I deleted Windows backup files so I can’t  go back.

Old drivers solution doesn’t work for me as I need high speed access, huge files (30+ gb each) and exfat or ntfs is the only option. I dont care that much for Android SD access as much as Windows access to SD cards.

What surprises me Teclast not even able to respond on their own forums to users.

Disappointing because the tablet was pretty good till now the only reliable and viable Chinese dual boot tablet.

    Where are using 3G?

3G in these tablets only works in Asia/China and possibly some Europe.
