In reply to: New HiBook BIOS fixes Wifi – May 18, 2016
Has anbody has flashed this WiFi fix BIOS. Anbody used the latest Hi Book Bios (wifi) via afuwin(exe) tool – this is total diferrent than the initial HiBook BIOS via USB Flash Drive.
The WiFi signal/troughput is rather poor. I hoped that Chuwi is a better than the Teclast TBook 10.

Hello,
I just received my EzPad 5S yesterday, after more than 6 weeks (purchased from gearbest). I installed Remix 2.0 OS for PC Beta Version, on a second partition made shrinking the emmc memory, following the instructions provided by remix team. Is working, without sound and wifi (where to find the drivers for android ?).
Regarding the  tablet: stopped to work a few times, I do not know the reason. The Usb 3 port is not working with some of the sticks 3.0, but is working with usb sticks 2.0 !
BTW, the bios is older one, maybe copied from another brand (?) uncleaned (the windows version specified 8.1) and with a lot of params inside that are blocked or not working !

After installing a WiFi USB adapter and disabling the Chuwi one in Windows 10, now I can use WiFi in Remix OS. Screen gestures and sound are still broken, but now I can surf the web.
I’m using the XDA Hacked version installed in an USB 2.0 drive.

ParticipantI found an announced tablet on Gearbest which looks pretty interesting (2 in 1 10.1 inch OGS screen tablet with a Z8700, dual band wifi, Type C USB) if a bit expensive at 379 euros but it does come with a keyboard (type cover). Basically it looks like a decent copy of the Surface 3 at a lower price. Â However I can’t find anything about the brand, the page doesn’t even mention a brand. I wonder if anyone here knows more about it? I know some people here are also on tabao. Anyone know more about it?

You should turn off Intel Power management and don’t use Bluetooth at the same time you’re using your WiFi. Install H264ify on Chrome to watch videos as Edge really sucks! 🙂
I like the keyboard, works really well and it has 2 extra USB ports that you can use.
I installed Advance System Care Free and so far so good!
Be aware that sometimes the tablet will not turn on at the first try. You should try a couple of times and if necessary, plug the charger and try to turn it on.
Keep all Microsoft updates. I also use driver booster, but be careful with the sound and WiFi drivers. The most recent ones doesn’t work.
To improve the sound, I installed Equalizer APO with Peace. The sound is far better than stock!
Charging takes an eternity, so don’t forget to have a second tablet! 😉

Yeah, this doesn’t surprise me at all. It could be worse than the Toshiba chip, as in the less expensive Chuwi’s. But they still cut the corners nearly as much as possible on these things. I just wish USB 3.0 was properly implemented (or fixed if it’s a BIOS problem). Even my 2011-era 5400RPM storage drive is doing 112MB/s read, 113MB/s write in my desktop PC. I don’t suppose it’s possible to mod a m.2 socket into one of these things? LOL
If only those skylake M tablets not that level of expensive, I am surely will buy it. I can’t justify around 450 usd for a Chinese Tablet, 350 maybe.
Both my Chuwi HiBook Pro and iWork 10 Ultimate has broken USB 3.0 implementation, both has same problem, all USB 3.0 device is not detected. I suppose this is Hampoo boards design flaws, or just me having the worst luck.
It has M2 slot without header available, maybe someone very good with soldering can try it. But I suppose it just has USB wired to it since it is for WWAN rather than PCIe or SATA signals.
Now I just wait for tablet with Atom x7-z8700 (same with Surface 3), I will happily pay usd 250-280 for it, but with user replaceable M.2 drive, AC Wireless, M2 slot, and charging using USB-C.
I expect the SD card reader in all these tablets interfaces with the motherboard using USB 2.0, as pretty much every computer’s integrated memory card reader does.
Actually Intel Atom has three direct storage connection, eMMC 4.5.1, SD Card (SDIO 3.0), Â and SDIO 3.0 for WiFi. So the SD Card is directly wired to the SoC. SDIO 3.0 speed itself just around 400Mbps, so the result is just around 40MB/s.

Hello.
After trying every suggestion I found here and in other places, I need to inform that I’m still unable to fix the WiFi. I ordered a USB WiFi to keep testing.
However, thanks to you guys, I read a lot of good stuff. All the installations I did were done with “desktop” versions of Ubuntu, Remix and Phoenix and while I was able to run them smoothly form my USB 2.0, because they’re desktop versions, the touch screens didn’t work. However, the keyboard and mouse track worked perfectly.
The sound issues has to do with Intel not supporting Android and Linux, some patch were done, but nothing definitive yet. I realized that we need “tablet” versions of Ubuntu, Remix and Phoenix with the sound, touch and WiFi modules already build. I think Chromium and Googles Chrome OS with Android apps will change that in a few months.
I found a very interesting site from a guy named Ian Morrison (http://www.linuxium.com.au/how-tos) who has  versions of Ubuntu, Chromium and Android x86 that I’m going to try soon!
They way I solved it was that I sacrificed a usb-port and soldered on a usb-wifi card to it.

Have you tried this?
http://forum.chuwi.com/thread-1252-1-1.html
How to make wifi work on Linux, Android x86, Remix OS:
1. Connect keyboard or doc to the tablet.
2. Reboot your tablet and press del button and go to the BIOS settings.
3. Go to the “Save & Exit” tab and select “SHOW ALL ITEMS” -> “ENABLED”
4. Goto Chipset -> South Bridge -> LPSS & SCC Configuration -> SSC SDIO Support  then select PCI mode
5. Press Esc and go to the “Save & Exit” tab and select “Save Changes and Exit”
6. Boot Linux, Android x86 or Remix OS from your USB deviceMay 26, 2016 at 3:11 am #38634In reply to: Second OS Tested
have you tried a wifi usb dongle?
How is pressure sensitivity on the stylus pen?
May 26, 2016 at 2:24 am #38631I don’t know of any way to fix the Android from the Windows section because Windows can’t access the ext4 Android partitions. You could possibly boot a portable version of Linux from a USB flash drive and access them that way.
I would do a factory reset of the Android section to erase any previous attempts to get Play Store on there and get it back to stock. Then see if it will connect via Wifi. If it will at least do that, it can be rooted and Play Store installed.May 23, 2016 at 3:16 am #38297In reply to: Chuwi Hi12 Wifi card/module
you could use a external usb wifi dongle.
have a look on aliexpress

TECLAST X98 AIR 3G, TECLAST X98 AIR II, TECLAST X98 PRO,CHUWI HI8, CHUWI HI12, CUBE I9May 23, 2016 at 12:43 am #38290In reply to: Chuwi Hi12 Wifi card/module
It’s an integrated realtek WiFi and Bluetooth component that is directly connected to the motherboard. Â It’s not a simple module or standard “card” that one could swap. Â Think of it as having a built in wifi card or nic on your computers motherboard. Â You could certainly add a NEW card or nic but you couldn’t swap out the integrated one. Â The Hi12 is similar, you can’t in any practice way remove the realtek integrated chipset but you can get a USB WiFi or bluetooth dongle. Â Support would be limited to windows or perhaps something like Ubuntu/*nix but I don’t believe Android is capable of supporting a USB dongle for WiFi or BT
May 22, 2016 at 7:43 pm #38269In reply to: marshmallow 6.0.1 (WIP) on HI12
There’s something really weird about the Chuwi Hi12 Wifi. I installed RemixOs, PhoenixOS and Ubuntu and run them with no problem other than Wifi is not working. All of them works good from my USB drive. If I can find a WiFi solution, I will install RemixOS in the SSD as my second boot.
May 21, 2016 at 11:51 pm #38199That’s terrific! Â It gives me hope for an update to fix the HiBook USB ports. Â Someone else in the Chuwi forum has complained about USB 2.0 speeds too. Â Not having any history with Chuwi, right now it seems they’re a good company. Â They’re active in social media (responding to posts, etc) and forums. Â They release firmware updates to fix problems. Â They already fixed a wifi problem on the HiBook, and this with the Hi12.
