Yep. its from androidX86 project download latest ISO and make bootable flash drive with rufus ( Format as FAT32 and GPT for UEFI). then simply boot from usb you can install or try live seasion like many linux distros. works oke but this is not final version its RC1. Wifi and touch screen not working properly. some time can be little bugy but is ok.

Briefly – there are like two ways:

    With respin:

    a) respin iso , boot respun iso from uefi, install linux, install refind to be able to boot installed Linux or win

    Without respin:

    b) install refind , insert usb with ISO (no need to be respun), edit boot parameters for usb, run ISO from usb, install Linux

Both ways have pros and cons:

    With respin:

+custom kernel version (possibility to avoid hassle with wifi driver)

+add custom packages (to be able to build wifi driver, without internet access)

    — respin works only for few distros of ubuntu family

    Hope this helps.

    Hi John,

    to your questions:

    a)  there is no need to delete any drivers in the refind directory, I kept all and it works.

    b) the isorespin script has developed since my installation, I used the graphical user interface, I remember I selected refind boot manager, persistent storage of 2 GB and when it asks for additional packages i entered linux-headers, build-essential, git. In that time, there wasn’t support for kernel 4.12, maybe when you try it, you will avoid problems with custom wifi driver.

The key factor is the refind boot manager, with it manually installed in win, you should be able to boot more distros from usb without the need of respin. But you need to pick one, which doesn’t need internet access for finishing the install process (for example Solus is a no no). Now I run happily Manjaro on my EZB3pro v2 with xfce desktop, it is more resource hungry comparing to Lubuntu (by 100 MB of RAM) but it runs smoothly anyway.

If you want, start here a new thread about Linux on EZB3pro and I will be glad to help and answer any questions.

There are 2 main problems with ezb3pro concerning Linux installation : a) 32bit UEFI, which doesnt want to boot 64bit grub bootloader from installation USB sticks b) missing wifi driver Both are addressed in the thread above. My succesful install procedure depends on isorespin script by Linuxium

I try to install Mint on my EZBook Pro 3 but i did not work ? At first two questions, pls:

    1. On the Installing rEFInd Boot Manager HowTo Point 7 it is written that: “You may want to selectively delete some of the drivers in the <tt>drivers_x64</tt>, <tt>drivers_ia32</tt>, or <tt>drivers_aa64</tt> directory, depending on your architecture and needs. Unnecessary drivers will slow the rEFInd start process, and can even cause the drivers you need to not work or cause a system crash.” Wich changes do you made at this Point?
    2. What is the exactly command you have entered on isorespin to respun the original ISO?

    Thx .

First, I would try it with Lubuntu using the exact steps that Ulric used in his LinuxQuestions thread.  Only after you have that working would I try other distro’s like Mint.  You have to start from a known working state.  That way, you’ll know if your particular machine has a problem – like maybe it needs a BIOS upgrade or something because, note, that multiple people have gotten it Lubuntu to work using Linuxium’s isorespin script and the refind boot manager.

Hello now have i installed Windows too. First i downloaded installation mediatool from microsoft to my desktop pc then i started the media tool and downloaded  win 10 and saved that on a usb flash drive 8GB to do a bootable disk, then i connected  the flash drive to my Tbook 11 and installed  win 10. when win 10 was installed  i noticed that i don,t have any wifi connection so i had to connect a usb wifi card to my Tbook so i could download  the missing drivers and it works perfectly. My Win 10 is also activated with digital licens.

I don’t know, I don’t have a Hi10 Plus, but the latest kernel in arch testing (4.12.2-1) works just as well as the custom hi10pro kernel above sans backlight control. I think it’s likely that if you build the customized kernel above (or even just install the packages I linked) it’ll work on the Plus just fine, but they’re packaged for the Arch Build System / pacman. It’d be far easier to just install whatever 4.12 kernel is available in the Linux Mint repositories; you ought to get battery monitoring, OOTB wifi and a more stable system overall. Maybe try out Linuxium’s latest Ubuntu LiveUSB; I never got around to it but it’s 4.12-based so it should let you test the new functionality.

Thanks for your advice. I’ve upgrade the kernel from 4.8 to 4.12 and as you said, I have the battery indicator, power button and touchscreen (with the gslx680 driver and silead_ts.fw firmware that you’ve posted above) working without issues. But there’s some things that i would like to fix.

    – Before updating the kernel i installed this wifi driver (https://github.com/apinela/rtl8723bs) with which i could scan all the near networks but when i tried to connect to my network  it’s stayed on “connecting” (I also enabled SDIO Support – PCI Mode on BIOS).  After upgrade the kernel this issue is still there however, i can use a external wifi or pair the bluetooth without any problems.

    – I would also like to be able to change the brightness level.  With xbacklight any changes that i made have no effect and with xrandr i got a error “need crtc to set gamma on” so none works. What else should i try?

After all i think i might make a fresh linux install and after that upgrading the kernel.

The new bios should work. At least that’s the bios most people who got the ssd to work should have I think. I got a feeling my bios version was for the 1st Ezbook pro without dual band wifi and m.2 ssd slot. You could try to dump your bios using the AptioV Firmware Update Tool. I’m not sure if that’s the right tool but no harm trying I guess. Thank you in advance!

Anyway I got the bootable usb  to work by using the media creation tool. Now left with the ssd… 🙁

hey guys, i recently found a bug, that i cant really pin down.

randomly i see ghost touches/not properly working touchpad of the dock, lately i saw that even sometimes the touchscreen makes ghost touches.

interestingly enough this happens almost exclusively when i have an usb 3.0 2,5″ hdd connected to the tablet through an usb c – usb a adapter (tried two one from aukey and one from juiced) and normally i have to connect the second only power cable from the usb 3.0 hdd to the micro usb 3 to normal usb 3 adapter so that the hdd starts.

while transferring data, for instance copying something from the internet over wifi with a speed of max 2MB/s i often see these touchpad/touchscreen glitches.

    did anyone see someting similar/comparable.

im thinking its either that the usb hdd draws too much power (its a standard 2.5″ hdd…) and something overheats and causes the touch controller to go foobar, or perhaps that the drivers for usb are still sketchy on windows 10 and bug out after a certain amount of transferring data? perhaps even my cooling mod with the copper plate somehow interferes (overheating the motherboard? or emi interference?) or just because i have set the tdp substatntially higher in the bios to 22,5w that this simply overheats the board, though while transferring the data im not doing anything compute intensive and the cpu is mostly on the lowest frequency…

    any ideas?

After a few weeks on a clean install of Windows 10 Home, I am finding the Intel Ac8260 wifi card is unstable.  Stutters and then stops working. drops connection and then completely removes itself from windows network. only a restart fixes it. I think I am using latest available driver (19.20.0.6).

So now I am forced to use up a precious USB port with a cheap (but faultless) USB wifi dongle.  Any suggestions on a fix?

The only other minor issues I have with this netbook are a little light leak on the display and when it wakes from sleeps the screen flickers at full brightness for a split second then returns to set brightness which is a tad annoying.

UAU!!! I knew it!!! I wish mine wasn’t bricked 🙁

And yes I would like very much to know if sound is working, and perhaps bluetooth as well?

    Best regards

It only works with USB UEFI boot and I wouldn’t trust Rufus…

I remember that I used dd command to make a UEFI bootable ubuntu iso

    sudo umount /dev/sdX
    sudo dd if=/path/to/ubuntu.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M && sync

where sdX is your usb device (this can be verified with lsblk).

The sync bit is important as dd can return before the write operation finishes.

I looked around the forum to see if anyone here had purchased this tablet, but I couldn’t find anything, so here’s a very short review of a recently released Onda tablet. My goal was to find an inexpensive tablet with Android 7.

    Onda V10 4G

    • CPU: MediaTek MT6753 octa-core (ARM Cortex-A53 @ 1.30GHz) / GPU: Mali-T720
    • 2GB DDR3 RAM / 32GB eMMC storage (about 25GB available)
    •  10.1″ 1920×1200 screen
    • Dual band Wifi (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.0, FM radio, GPS, 3G: B1/B2/B5/B8, 4G: B1/B3/B7/38/39/40/41
    • 2 full size SIM slots (not tested), 1 MicroSD slot (tested with 128GB Samsung EVO)
    • 6000mAh battery (5200mAh on onda.cn)
    • MicroUSB port (charging and data), headphone jack
    • 2MP front camera / 5MP rear camera
    • Android 7.0

    Links

I bought the tablet from onda-tablet.com since it was the cheapest option. Shipping was either $11 for slow or $16 for DHL 3-5 day. I chose DHL. I used PayPal and got a generic order confirmation email right away. However, after waiting 3 days for a shipment confirmation, I did some searching about onda-tablet.com only to find many reports of problems dealing with the company. So I decided to use the PayPal dispute system and asked to cancel my order. The next day, I got a shipment confirmation. The tablet arrived 3 days after that. Ultimately I feel I got a good deal on the tablet, but I think that if I hadn’t resorted to submitting a PayPal dispute, I would still be waiting to hear from the company.

The tablet arrived well packaged with a layer of bubble wrap and a layer of foam wrap. It powered up without any problem. The tablet had been pre-configured for English, so I did a factory reset. There were no issues after changing the language to English. There were a few Chinese applications which were easily uninstalled. Google Play was installed and I was able to install a few apps from the Store just fine. The one problem I had was Chrome which installed but showed an “Enable” button instead of “Open”. I couldn’t figure out how to get it to work, so I installed Chrome Beta instead which worked.

The screen looks quite nice to me with decent brightness and viewing angles. There is a large gap between the glass and the display as is the case with many cheap tablets. There were 2 screen protectors pre-applied. (I removed the top protector.) The back is all plastic. There is a slight seam where the screen joins the back which is sharp on the corners, to the point where it is uncomfortable to hold. I filed down the seam along the corners with a nail file and now it’s fine.

The browsing experience is decent. I think the launcher is stock Android 7. (I typically use Nova launcher.) Antutu gave an overall score of 38600. Geekbench 4 scored 597 single-core/2472 multi-core. (Screen captures in the Links section above.) I suspect 3D gaming will not be the best on this tablet.

Using A1 SD Bench, I found that the MicroSD slot is USB 2.0, resulting in 51MB/s reads and 48MB/s writes with a 128GB Samsung EVO card. The internal memory was slow at 125MB/s reads and 77MB/sec writes.

I tested both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi bands with success, giving read/write speeds comparable to what I get on my Samsung S7. I didn’t test the 4G speeds as I don’t have a full-size SIM adapter. GPS worked just fine as well.

There are 2 speakers on the back, but they are not stereo as both speakers output L/R mixed. They get fairly loud with some distortion at 100% volume. The headphone jack sounds good without any noticeable hiss or static.

The cameras are predictably lackluster. The front camera is angled weird resulting in my face appearing on the left half of the screen. The rear camera gives about 5 frames/sec in low light.

Overall, it’s about what I expected for a low-end tablet. I just wanted something with Android 7.0 for less than $150US.

Hi everybody! Today i tested Remix OS Teclast x98 plus rom on my Iwork10 and happened what i expected: Some functions didn’t work. I’ll try to port it from Iwork10, but i need some help about what files change. What didn’t work:

    • Screen starts upside down;
    • Cameras didn’t work;
    • Touchscreen didn’t work.

All other functions worked (Wifi, bluetooth, usb and type c ports).

    Someone can help me?
