For those that are looking for a cheap 1080p media TV play with KODI, the LinesTV Box might a good choice. Recently released this S805 quad core powered media unit comes with Kodi 12.2 preinstalled and has 1GB of RAM and a 4GB rom. While the onboard storage is definitely lacking, you can add an external drive with it’s USB 2.0 port or MicroSD card slot.
The media player is small too at only 10 x 10 cm wide and 2.2 cm high.
It has a full-size HDMI port, a RJ45 Lan port and Wireless N.

I’m personally more interested in Intel based units since you have more OS options, potentially in the future for low cost TV boxes. Since Linux is already running on a stick (reportedly) it’s just a matter of time before they get it running on other TV-box devices (and hopefully tablets too).

I have a very interesting fanless PC coming hopefully tomorrow. It’s got an i5 5257U with Intel Iris 6100 GFX. It has 2 x sodimm slots for up to 16GB of Ram, Sata3 2.5″ drive support and two msata slots for raid 0 or 1 even. And it even has HDMI 2.0 spec ports x 2. The best part, it’s fanless and $293 (much cheap latest Intel NUC i5 or i7 5550u)

Chris, this one looks interesting too for the low cost and ability to add a hard drive. A less powerful CPU but enough RAM. If Linux could be run on it, would make for a nice mini-PC, though Windows 10 might be OK too.

One thing that differentiates it a bit is it has a built in camera, albeit low rez 2MP. Also supposedly runs cool with built in fan.
