As I reported in my Surbook unboxing video I noticed that the touchscreen wasn’t quite 100%. And after talking to Chuwi support about the insensitive touch issues I was having with my Surbook, they were aware of this issue on some first batch units. Mine was affected, not every touch input would register, resulting in a lot of typos using the on-screen keyboard and frustrating use. Well, the...[Read More]
Chuwi Surbook drivers, bios updates, EC updates, WIndows 10 image and touchscreen drivers. Touch screen fix.
This weekend has been a bit hectic, I’ve moved from the studio apartment in the center of town over to another apartment with air conditioning. The move was necessary for two main factors, the old place was far too expensive for the site & channel to support and lack of Airconditioning meant it was very hard with up to 35 degrees C temps indoors. And under the studio softbox lighting was...[Read More]
The Surbook arrived at the studio, most of the orders of the 128GB model have shipped if you’re one of the Indiegogo crowd funders. 64GB models to follow. The tablet has the typical Chuwi brown box packaging for the type cover and tablet. The stylus as I suspected is the same model as the Hi13’s the HiPen H3. Below is my unboxing and preview while I work on using it for a week or two b...[Read More]
The Chuwi SurBook is a 12.3" Apollo Lake Intel Celeron N3450 Windows 10 2-in-1. It's based around the Surface Pro 4 screen, a premium top tier IPS screen with 450 cd/m2 2736 x 1824 resolution. It has 6GB of RAM (2 x 3GB LPDDR3 chips) 64GB eMMC for storage and 2 x USB 3.0 ports (Full sized) It has a kick stand an optional type cover.
Update#2 – According to Chuwi France, the N3450 is just the initial CPU used in the Lapbook Air, so there is some hope still of a Core M3 version. Update: Specs updated and first hands-on video of the Lapbook Air shows a very nice looking design and build. Looks a lot like the Mi Notebook Air. Anyone understand Polish? Is it that a mini HDMI port or Type-C? I can see just by looking at the k...[Read More]
Some good news on the Chuwi Surbook front and some bad. Well, it’s not really bad. The shipping date has slipped to late July or August. Chuwi’s has produced a few units but still further tweaking is required hence the delay. So not a bad thing at all really, I prefer a more refined product than a rushed one with issues, anyone would. And the good news is they are going to use a copper...[Read More]
Chuwi posted today a video of the Surbook in action, this is the T2 prototype build. So not the final version, so it could be a little different from the final product once released. Here we get a good look at the type cover keyboard which looks a lot like the Surface Pro 3 one with the keys closer together. Personally, I like the island or chiclet style spaced out keys better as you’ll get ...[Read More]
Chuwi has sent through a couple of updates on the SurBook via IndieGoGo to the backers that ordered one. The new prototype is expected to finish this month, they have just added a Chuwi logo on the rear kickstand made from nickel sheet stamping method. The housing as seen in the photos looks good, still no word of if that screen is fully laminated or not. Specs of the Chuwi SurBook: 6GB of RAM, Wi...[Read More]

Update: The SurBook campaign is now live here. Edit: The Indiegogo page is in draft mode. My order was refunded. Chuwi told me they have some issues with the crowdfunding page and they will launch it again as soon as possible once they sort out everything. I’ll let you know when it’s live again. Seems like it wasn’t quite ready. Chuwi also said in the email that if you subscribe ...[Read More]
