Maze Alpha – Another Bezel-less Mobile

Maze Alpha – Another Bezel-less Mobile

This one looks very similar to the Doogee Mix, but with a larger 6″ screen. It’s another attempt of a bezel-less screen phone. Sure there is a bezel, you can clearly see it but less of a bezel than normal. Like the Doogee Mix it’s powered by a MediaTek Helio P25, 2.5Ghz Octa-core CPU. 4GB of RAM and a 64GB eMMC. There is also a 6GB and 128GB Storage version coming soon.

The screen is 6-inches as mentioned, 1080p (the Doogee Mix is 720p) and covered with Gorilla Glas 4 spec scratch resistant glass. The battery is a large 4000mah hour one and a dual camera arrangement on the rear that has one Sony IMX214 13MP camera and 5MP camera. No idea with they work together or if that 5MP camera is just used to get bokeh like blurred background shots using the two lenses and software?

It’s also got fast charge support (MediaTek Pump Express) And the front home button acts as a fingerprint reader. The frame is all metal and it runs Android 7.0, 4G support does include Band 20. So spec wise and the design of it looks okay for the $179 price. Any interest in me reviewing this one? So far my biggest concern is just how thin will those bezels really be in real life? I’m sure these images have them slimmer than they really are?

And the front camera location is in the chin, just like the Xiaomi Mi Max. Not the greatest location.

  1. 15.98 x 8.25 cm… Bezel-less… I don’t think so.

  2. I was about to buy it but came across the Elephone S8 that seems to be better in every aspect. Though at a higher price range (280$ +/-)

  3. Will be waiting for review

    • I need to lock down on my spending, but I will ask around for a review sample since it’s under $200 I might just get lucky.

      • How is that either banggood or gearbest doesn’t provide samples for any phone whatsoever? IIRC Gearbest embed your videos at some point as product reviews. And it would make sense they had some marketing team that would hook you sometimes.

        • I’ve asked around and Bandgood said they didn’t have any review units of this one. Since it’s under $200 I should be able to get one from Tinydeal or Gearbest. I’ll keep trying.

          • I’ve seen on the Maze Alpha question section on GearBest someone asking for a phone to review and they redirected him to a mail [email protected] maybe they could hook you up. And with your portfolio you have at least a decent chance.

  4. Hi Chris , I’ve just ordered one during the pre-sale, and this one looks promising, indeed.
According to their site, the Sony IMX214 sensor should be replaced by a Samsung S5K3L8 sensor.

    • Ah okay, they have changed the rear 13MP sensor to a Samsung. I’ll try and review if I can, just worried that the bezels might be 3 times thicker when I get it. NO real life images of it around as far as I can tell.

  5. I’ve been keeping an eye on the Maze Alpha ever since I came across your review of the Maze Blade, and would love to see a review of it! I wonder if it could trade blows with the Mi Max 2 in terms of performance, build quality, camera etc…
