Teclast X98 Plus Dual Boot Bios and Firmware Released

Teclast X98 Plus Dual Boot Bios and Firmware Released

Teclast has today released the dual boot bios for existing X98 Plus Windows users. With this bios and the Android Rom and Windows 10 image, you can now convert your own Windows only machine to a dual boot unit. It’s for the X98 Plus (A5C8).

Teclast hesitated releasing this as you’ll lose your embedded Windows 10 Home license flashing the bios, so proceed with caution and back up your Windows 10 license before you flash. If you’re looking to buy this model and want dual boot, it’s easier to just buy the dual OS version as flashing is a bit of a hassle.

Android 5.1 X98 Plus Rom and Windows image.

I’m currently downloading the files to mirror them but Baidu is sooo slow!

  1. After installing the OTA on Android, i can’t boot into Android anymore. Windows is working fine
Do you have a solution ?

    Thinks ,

    t

  2. I updated bios according with o site instructions and I ended with a dead tablet . After searching and searching… I try a lot of “solutions” but nothing worked ( for about one month). I have Teclast dual boot A5C8 with bios chip GD25LQ64CVIG.
I succeeded to resurrect my tablet by flashing bios with a programmer ( based on chip CH341A at 3V) ,using the clip ,on another bios chip bayed on AliExpress ( same type like the one on tablet) . Software of programmer V1.13 using Windows 7, 32 bits, on windows 10, 64 bits didn’t work despite of programmer being detected an all drivers installed. With resistance dividers and logic level converter from 3 V ( programmer) to 1.8V ( chip) didn’t work ( soo programmed directly at 3V). After programing the new chip I solder on tablet ( replace the old one) and tablet started like nothing happen 🙂

    • Hi Florin,

Good that you unbricked ur device, My tablet chip also “GD25LQ64CVIG” but when i connect it to CH341A from software it says “unknown device” if we click on detect. I am running on 3v. Can you tell me please whether for you also same as well. or doeas it recognized properly as gigadevice chip?

  3. I contacted Teclast when it happened but did not get any reply so I contacted Banggood and told them as I only had the tablet for a couple of weeks. Their first response was to do all the usual things like charge battery, power on with Vol + or Vol – etc, etc.
Don’t know why these people can’t understand that ‘dead means DEAD’
Anyway I have now requested my money back as this was the second time I had problem with X98 Plus. The first tablet had faulty screen and was returned day after I got it. I have had enough of this junk.

  4. I’ve asked already but no reply, my windows 10 in stuck in a loop trying to reset the os, its stuck at around 96%. Everytime I turn it on it loops back. Is there a way to reboot the whole system in the android os or the windows bios?

  5. Hi Chris, my A5C8 had a firmware update via device manager in win 10. During restart it stuck at boot and then switched off completely. It is not starting again. Please help..

  6. hi,update the bios with no errors and now didnt boot up any solution pls?

  7. When the tablet came, I turned it on(in Android).
When I connected it to the wifi network it asked me to do a Teclast update.
I did as it said. After the tablet restarted, it asked me for a second update from Teclast.
I did the second update, and the tablet stopped working/booting in Android.
After that I started Windows 10. Went into Settings and tried to do a Hard reset – Erase all/restore to factory settings.
The tablet started resetting and stopped at 55%. After about 30 minutes, I restarted the tablet.
The tablet started booting and went back to 55%, it was stuck once more.
I decided to restart it again after being stuck at 55% for quite some time.
While trying to boot, the tablet went to boot menu and began to restart itself over and over in a loop.

    I download the file from

and the instructions in chines from

I have a few questions about flashing the ROM
    1. Does it works
    2. How do I connect the USB hub – there is only OTG plug, or is it better to use the plug for charging
    3. Can I use TF slot to flash, instead of the USB hub

    Please Help

    • Could some body tell me how to start flash if only BIOS is working. Android and Windows are not working

  8. After installing the OTA on Android, i can’t boot into Android anymore. Windows is working fine.
How can i reinstall the Android partition?
Can anybody help me? Thank you 🙂

  9. Hi Chris, any chance to find time to upload the files and to a tutorial on how to update to dual boot?

  10. Anyone succeeded in upgrading her/his A5C6 to dual boot? On the Chinese forum I see quite some people that are experiencing issues with the upgrade and their tablets hang at step 13, which is holding me back. Another thing;
I tried finding how to backup the windows 10 home license, but I’m unable to find anything valid..

With a normal pc, I know there are several disk cloning options, but I have got no idea where to start if I brick this tablet. I would normally dive into the bios and change the bootable device to USB or something.

  11. Finally, I want to see if it makes it more snappy , Now I know what I’ll be doing tonight 🙂

  12. I’ve just spotted a tutorial on how to convert A5C6/7 to dual boot… It’s in Chinese bur google translate is quite accurate…

  13. Hello, I have a question. There is the possibility of installing this ROM on a tablet Cherrytrail Onda V919. Especially the possibility of Android in the tablet. Greetings and thanks.

  14. Will this work with the A5C6?

  15. Can’t wait to hear your review for the android side man…
