Update #2: My Xiaomi M365 scooter review is here.
Update: Just my luck after I bought it, the price is now $379! I found this new coupon: GBXMSTE add this on checkout and it lowers it to that price. The listing is here. I hope to be receiving mine next week, so look for an unboxing of it and later review. It’s going to be my new around town transport.
This one I’ve been asked to review a few times, it’s Xiaomi’s electric scooter the M365. It looks well built and spec’ed for wit ha range of about 30kms on the flat and max speed of 25km’s per hour (Legal requirement) Inflated air tires, dual braking system, front and rear lights and it even works with an application to monitor your battery and distance etc. Since Xiaomi products seem to be so popular, I think I’ll order one to review. Might be a nice change from the typical Notebook, mobile, and tablet. I can move around town with ease on this. Would you like to see me review it? Or review the Xiaomi 4k Drone?
Gearbest I found to have the best deal: $449 with free shipping with coupon MiM365FES
And if you’re after a robot vacuum I found Xiaomi has one for $319 with coupon XIAOMIVAC . I have no idea if it’s any good and didn’t know they also make vacuums. Is there anything they don’t make with electronics? (No don’t worry I will not be reviewing this one!)

€450 at banggood with code caa793. This includes all taxes. For UK, its £385.
On the Banggood website it says:
“Please Note:
1. The above prices are already inclusive of customs duties,
so customers do not need to worry about paying extra customs duties.”
Chris G
Well, I order it, got it for $449 with the coupon. Gearbest’s method looks via EU shipping service and tax-free too. Might take a while to arrive. So look for an unboxing and later review of in here in a few weeks.
Pete
Bangood have the scooter for $38 more with a coupon from the blog above, but claim aon the ad and their forum that it includes customs, which might work out a bit better depending on what the hit on customs from Gearbest is likely to be, if any.
Chris G
I think I’ll not have to pay taxes if I use the free post method, it comes via the Madrid hub then to me and in the past no taxes to pay. But you never know, never got something as big as this it might be stopped.
Chris G
Well me review is up, range is not as good as claimed (I suspected as much) https://techtablets.com/2017/05/xiaomi-mijia-electric-scooter-m365-review/

Thanks for the comments. I’ll get one, it’s something I’ve been looking into because parking is a massive issue where the new office is in town. This way I can park further away and just use the scooter.
Paul M
my employer will move offices in a few months, and there will be more competition for parking; also, I work in Cambridge and we have nationally famous bad traffic congestion. I can now ride to work in the same time as I’d drive. It costs me 0.1 euro to charge the battery, as opposed to 2.5 euros in fuel!
Chris G
That’s great, I’m really looking forward to getting this and testing it out. I’m just worried about how long the cells will last for and if I can replace them easy enough.
Paul M
if the battery is a string of Lithium Ion cells, then the same rules will apply as to phones, laptops etc. I imaging you will be able to change the cells one day, though it will void the warranty.
I found some videos where people have dismantled the scooter to see the battery pack

it looks like it takes 18650 LiIon cells.
Chris G
Thanks, looks like it will be easy enough to replace all those 18650 cells with some decent LG chem ones once it wears out after a few years I hope.

I bought an electric bike for my 7 mile commute (14 return) to work, and I’m sold on electrically assisted vehicles that are road legal and don’t need special licence, tax etc, and you can ride them into places that cars and motor vehicles cannot go.
Chris G
They are interesting, I’m not sure on local laws in Spain, but I think I’m fine as long as I’m not knocking down old ladies. And it is limited to 25 km/s I think over this is needs a permit and all sorts of paperwork.
Paul M
there are different rules in different countries, but as I understand it there’s some European harmonisation. I imagine the law in Spain will be somewhat similar to the UK, but I am not a lawyer, and I am not your lawyer 😉

Chris G
Yes, basically the same as Spain and most of Europe. 250W max and similar limits. And I have to use it on the road, not footpath which is obvious but I still see kids on the footpaths with their scooters.

Chris, you should definitely review both the scooter and the robot vacuum! You can go for a spin to the shops and come back to a nice clean home? What’s not to like!!
Chris G
I’m not sure if I need the vacuum in the office, would be nice. But I have no idea about reviewing vacuums haha. And it’s a bit pricey, so for now just the scooter because I want a new toy 🙂
Jerome
$449 is a great price for an electric scooter as sturdy as that Xiaomi one. Look forward to the review.
I’m more interested in their electric bike personally, but it’s significantly more expensive and looks very weird – scooter could be a good alternative.

Hi Chris,
I would really appreciate a trustworthy review of this. I’m looking at solutions for the last few miles of my commute in NW England, this seems like a really good deal, but too pricey to be a gamble.
Chris G
I’ll held off ever since the announcement, but always been thinking about it and watching the price drop. It was a lot more expensive in the beginning, I’m sure I saw it around $599. Seem there is interest, so I’ll review one. Hopefully, it will get a few views so I can make back on the investment. Little worried about taxes on this one being so big and heavy it’s going to be held for sure.
