Some of you got lucky i think. I tried for days to get the laptop to boot from kingspec 128 gb ssd sequentially. Sometimes it boots a few time in a row as it should…. And then all of a sudden the bios doesn’t recognize the ssd anymore and boots into efi shell….. This happens completely random. I tried cloning the emmc with 2 different tools. I deleted the boot partition on emmc…. I fully wiped the emmc … I made bootable usb with rufus and did fresh install…. I manually formatted partitions before installing windows and at last i flashed the unlocked bios. NOTHING WORKED. Now i have a clean windows on emmc and ssd for backup….. Snif snif

Exact same problem here. I’m at wits end. SSD works fine in other systems. I don’t want to boot off the EMMC because it is significantly slower than the SSD. I have tried a 128GB and 256GB Kingspec M.2 SSDs and the results are the same on two different Ezbook 3 Pros.

Hello guys! A few days ago, I bought some unknown to me ssd. KINGDIAN of 240 GB, it was a relatively inexpensive around $60 on Amazon, it was delivered within 2 days. Using the instructions that I read on TechTablets, easily downloaded software for cloning, followed the instructions, and it was all over in 15 minutes. Thank you very much TecgTablets on very detailed instructions. My sincere recommendation for anyone who wants to install the ssd. to use, follow the video and instructions, that won’t be a problem.

Upon upgrading my new F6 Pro to a 512 GB SSD (Transcend MTS400S) I stumbled upon a weird issue. I attached the new SSD in a M2 casing by USB as I usuall do. It showed up in Windows 10 (diskmgmt.msc) and the cloning software did find it too.

The cloning process ran fine up to about 20-30% then exited with a error ‘timeout / device not available’. This happened both for the Easeus Backup Lite and the Transcend SSD Scope clone software and a noname USB3 M2 casing from Aliexpress. With another external USB3 M.2 case from Inatek it did not work at all, the SSD even never showed up.

I have used the same hardware for upgrading the SSD of a Jumper EZBook Pro V5, so I was a bit dumbstruck at first. Finally I noticed the USB power the F6 Pro provides is much less than that of EZBook, a USB voltage/current sniffer showed a voltage drop to < 4.4V when the external M2 casing with the SSD was attached and accessed. So the USB ports just have enough power to drive a common USB stick but beyond that a powered USB hub is the way to go. I attached a powered USB3 hub and was finally a happy camper.

Otherwise the upgrade to 512GB using the Transcend SSD Scope software (which can auto-resize partitions, I prefer it to the Easeus Backup way) went without further hick up. Also I can report the Transcend MTS400S does a great job in my F6 Pro. As usual YMMV.

First: Thermal pad looks ok, but still no needed. Thermals on this machine are fine. After applying thermal pad to exterior, it will become very hot! Good luck keeping that on your knees…

For cloning emmc to ssd I use MiniTool Partition Wizard 10. Every single time it WORKS! No problems whatsoever! Try that.

I’m in the exact same boat with the kingspec 256Gb. Great when it boots but a pain when it decides to dump. Using EMMC and SSD for backup.

    Day 3:

The touchpad is pure evil.   I’m going to disable it.  I use a mouse all the time now.  The keyboard is not very good.  It isn’t terrible either.

    TN display confirmed.

No problems with cooling they way I use the machine.  I’m seeing core temperatures in the mid 30s.

I installed the 4 April 2018 build of Ubuntu 18.04 beta on a budget M.2 SSD card.   That went smoothly.  The card just worked.  No BIOS issues at all.    18.04 installed easily. The computer now dual boots Windows and Ubuntu

The internal WiFi does not work with Ubuntu.   The Realtek RTL8723B driver is not included with Ubuntu.   There is a driver that is known to work though.

I tried cloning the source code for the driver but it doesn’t install.  The current code doesn’t appear to be compatible with 18.04.

I doubt this is going to work anytime soon.   Even if it does work this is going to be a pain to use.  I’d have to recompile the driver on every kernel update.

I’ve posted on ubuntu forums.   Maybe someone there can help.

Yesterday I had a similar problem with the Windows 10 sign out. I have a 128gb SSD installed in my EZB3P. After I clicked sign out, the computer was stuck in the sign out blue screen, with the circular wait icon rotating. So I hit the power key and turned off the laptop. Then, when I restarted again, thinking everything would be back to normal, the computer suddenly did not recognize the existence of a SSD and could not boot into Windows, saying that Windows needs to be repaired and the startup file is missing. I don’t have Windows 10 on the internal EMMC drive after cloning the image to SSD. I’m using the EMMC for storage. I also went into the bios and found that the option for booting into the SSD has disappeared. After numerous tries of restarting and resetting the laptop, I still could not see the SSD in the bios.

Today, I opened the bottom panel and took out the SSD. Then I put it back in again. To my surprise, Windows 10 booted up properly. However, I noticed something odd. Whenever I screwed the bottom panel back into place, the laptop would experience the same problem previously. The SSD cannot be found in bios and I cannot load Windows 10. But if I leave the panel off, everything works as it should. I’m thinking perhaps the panel is in contact with the SSD itself or the screw that is holding the SSD in place. I will place some non conductive tape on the inside and see how that goes. So far, I’ve been running without the bottom panel.

Bought the eMMc version from Geekbuying. Added a 128GB  Transcend M.2 SSD (MTS 400). Cloned the eMMc to the SSD. Reformatted the eMMc but hten laptop would not boot saying some files not found. I must have done something wrong during the cloning or reformatting.  Luckily, I have the Win 10 ISO disc and used it to reinstall Win 10. Funny thing is, the reinstalled Win 10 has a different product ID and is activated.

My thought: Do not buy the 128GB version.

Lots of Jumpers having problem cloning the emmc to the ssd. (never the ones who were s***t and got a 3s what has a 256GB SSD already installed) That might because you do an inside cloning. Try an outside cloning via the USB3 port and an adapter, you might have more luck this way. I never clone inside – never had a cloning problem. Afterwards change the boot sequence in the bios to the USB drive. Should work OK. The rest is explained over and over here in the forum. If the Jumper still gives you trouble, you can just velcro the little case with the ssd inside to the backside of your screen and boot from your USB SSD. hope that answers your question Pascal. The case is around 6 Euro plus shipping USB 3.0 to M.2 NGFF B Key SSD Adapter Card External Enclosure Case Cover Box

After 2 days off jerking around i finally gave up…. Jumper won!

I did 2 clones to be sure that my problems had nothing to do with bad cloning. 1 clone with minitool to SSD and 1 clone to SSD with Macrium.

Afther both cloning ways i first deleted the boot partition on the emmc. The jumper nicely booted from SSD…. Yes! When i restarted from windows all was fine BUT when i shut down the laptop and restarted the laptop went in efi shell….. ahhhhhhhhh.

Okay. Then completely wiped all partitions on emmc….. same thing!! Restart from windows was fine but shutdown and then fire up…. the damn thing went into efi shell.

So….. I did a clean install on emmc and left it that way.

I almost think it is indeed a hardware failure or a bad bios.

I give up as said.. . Grrrrrrrrr

so many problems here with all the Jumpers cloning and slow SSD´s, take a look how easy it can be.

Remember clone outside via USB3 (much less problems – why? ask Intel and your bios manufacturer), remove the black plastic m.2 2242 holder completely ( in case of warranty it is easy to reinstall unharmed).
Ductape the mounting screw where the 2260 or 2280 sits on), slot in the already cloned SSD, fix with some heat resistant tape at the end.
After closing the case put a thick (1mm) silicone heat transfer pad on top of the SSD to have thermal contact with the lid, it also keeps it secure in place.
My setup works like a charm, remember SSD and other high speed memory chips get quite hot and are thankful for some thing cool to be attached.

I got my 512GB Kingspeck (without the k but I could not resist, it´s a German joke) and after a simple outside USB3 cloning the 512 went into my Jumper 3s and the Foresee 256GB went away. Today Homer Thomson with the gigantic memory of 4/32GB got his upgrade.

Reading of all the problems  the Jumperianer having in getting their emmc cloned and working, here is how it went with Homer.
Removed the bottom, removed the cooling metal. Took a picture of the stellar work to nearly find the processor when placing the themo pad.
Circling on the picture where I put new thermal pads, the cooling metal was screwed back and the plastic for the m.2 2242 was removed (one screw and loosen the cable to slip the plastic off. The screw for the 2242 was removed and on the thread was a piece of ductape stuck. Then the 2280 m.2 Foresee was stuck in and fixed with more ductape. On top of the cooling metal were several stripes of thicker cooling pads (silicone type) installed to connect with the full metal back and also where the door for the ssd is was the same thick thermo transfer sillicone pad installed to connect the ssd with the case.

Oh yes and I unplugged the battery at some point when fiddeling inside the pc.

Feeling lucky after everything was screwed back I just started Homer to see what surprise was waiting for me.

Now remember there are now 2 bootable mediums inside one original and one from another computer with mostly similar specs.
    waiting
    waiting
    TADA!

Homer booted from the SSD without me even being near the BIOS.
All my programs were there and everything was running …
OK on closer look there was one driver missing in the device manager and Windows was not activated, also my wifi was on strike.
Now where was my driver dump?
Hmm, I am sure getting old lot´s of CRS syndrome (Cant Remember Shit).
So reboot, enter BIOS tell Bios please boot from EMMc – done.
Double Driver makes a backup, reboot, enter BIOS tell Bios please boot from SSD – done.
Double Driver makes restore, as usual 1 driver fails (it´s an Intel, who cares) – reboot.
Everything works, wifi, the precision tablet (worked even before the Double Driver  restore) and all my little programs. Even Windows activated itself -uh oh, should have taken that hint.

So how fast is my 500/500 SSD now in this new computer – well would you believe 500/500.

Did I fiddle anywhere , NO just what I wrote here and everything works with programs what are installed on another PC I even got rid of the Creators Fall since my Jumper had just Creators what I prefer.

And now back to the uh oh. If you recall from earlier posts my Windows is general set up to NOT update anything. With the help of ShutUp10 and ather nifty programs you can make windows behave like you want. Now with activating itself windows also deactivated my block telemetry and do not  update anything and also I am on a metered wifi connection.
That bloody windows deactivated all my settings and plastered over my whole screen: do not turn off we are just regaining ownership of your computer.
    Hell NO.
Disable wifi, run ShutUp10 see what all is again enabled, disable all again,  check installed programs, find several sneaked in windows trojans (with best wishes from microsoft), remove and check installed updates, grrr – found you suckers,  delete.
Had to do some of it 3 times including setting wifi back to metered until win 1703 now behaves.

Believe me Bill Gates and his software was bad, I know I am fighting with this shit since it was named IBM DOS. But 10 is pure evil, Facebook style.
